A similar thing happened in my country, Mexico. A wealth of oil in the 1970's and 80"s turned out to be a curse as the proceeds were grossly mismanaged and ended up in the hands of corrupt politicians and union leaders of the state-owned oil monopoly, Pemex. Today, Pemex is the world's most indebted, corrupt, and inefficient oil company and is a serious drag on the economy. I sincerely hope that Uganda manages its new-found wealth wisely to help its people get ahead in life.
That is the least of Uganda's problem. Just wait till America and NATO shows up. First they will accuse your Government of genocide and crimes against humanity. Then next comes the shock and awe bombings disguised under the title of Regime change. Trust me they are coming for Uganda.

Ummmm, the math doesn't work here. I run a mine in Nevada and we hope to get 1/4 ounce per ton of material. Certainly there are amazing grades but those are confined to extremely small bodies of ore (usually less than 100 ton). This is implying there are 30 ounces of gold per ton spread out over 31 million of tons of material. If that were actually true, the price of gold would drop 95%. Silver might become more valuable than gold (assuming silver was not discovered in proportionate grades).

Ummmm, the math doesn't work here. I run a mine in Nevada and we hope to get 1/4 ounce per ton of material. Certainly there are amazing grades but those are confined to extremely small bodies of ore (usually less than 100 ton). This is implying there are 30 ounces of gold per ton spread out over 31 million of tons of material. If that were actually true, the price of gold would drop 95%. Silver might become more valuable than gold (assuming silver was not discovered in proportionate grades).
Think about it: there is a total of $2.07 trillion US dollars in existence. Uganda’s find is more than six times the amount of dollars in the world.
