A similar thing happened in my country, Mexico. A wealth of oil in the 1970's and 80"s turned out to be a curse as the proceeds were grossly mismanaged and ended up in the hands of corrupt politicians and union leaders of the state-owned oil monopoly, Pemex. Today, Pemex is the world's most indebted, corrupt, and inefficient oil company and is a serious drag on the economy. I sincerely hope that Uganda manages its new-found wealth wisely to help its people get ahead in life.
That is the least of Uganda's problem. Just wait till America and NATO shows up. First they will accuse your Government of genocide and crimes against humanity. Then next comes the shock and awe bombings disguised under the title of Regime change. Trust me they are coming for Uganda.

All Ugandan resources should be pegged to Ugandan shillings. No shillings, No gold. Enough of selling your resources in dollars and shortchanging yourself. If they are afraid seeing what they did to Ghadaffi then let all East African Federation come together with one currency and demand that all resources from EAF must be paid only in that currency. Ummmm, the math doesn't work here. I run a mine in Nevada and we hope to get 1/4 ounce per ton of material. Certainly there are amazing grades but those are confined to extremely small bodies of ore (usually less than 100 ton). This is implying there are 30 ounces of gold per ton spread out over 31 million of tons of material. If that were actually true, the price of gold would drop 95%. Silver might become more valuable than gold (assuming silver was not discovered in proportionate grades).
It depends how Uganda handle itself and to certain extent how the useless African leaders support Uganda, if things did not go well in favor of the USA and its Western allies, we will soon hear that Uganda is a dictator, they need democracy, human right,…..and so on; then we know what follows these. Let hope the best for Uganda
And sadly they'd still be better off. I hope both scenarios are false and Uganda as a country and the people who are there will benefit. But I can't be optimistic. Every time there's some great discovery it's always exploited and average people get fucked over.

If thats the case, that amount would exceed all the gold that was ever mined throughout our human civilization.... and you would practically be picking up boulders of fucking gold everywhere in that location... pretty sure if that was the case everyone would be on top of it and it would have been on the news decades ago.
The following needs to be reviewed.
1) drill results and verified by 3rd independent body.
2) survey results published and verified
3) Ore samples
Otherwise, I think it's just a way to attract foreign investments but hey maybe they are really sitting on top of a gold mine, who knows. Im a man of science and I need solid proof.. so far I ain't seeing any just word of mouth. Should it be proven wrong, no one would trust the government and it'd have a opposite effect.

The WGC estimates the entirety of all gold ever mined is about $7.5T, it’s a total sham to claim $12T backed up by a few picks and shovels and crude Chinese equipment in this video. Nonetheless if there is any mineral wealth the Ugandans will do well to keep it as far from the politicians as possible.
