It's just amazing how you breathe new life into these old things that I would never think I would want in my house but after you've touched them it's incredible they just look so much better
My husband and I use to make magazine racks, but we haven't made any in yrs, when people went to baskets for everything, they quit selling. So I may have to make one just to destress it. Lol, fantastic job. I loved them all but the white French one is my favorite.
I, too, have fallen in immense like over the Durham water puddy. However, I've learned only black paint covers it. That puddy is a wonderful product! Those racks turned our so beautiful. The rack with the knobbies and french design took my breath away!!! Thank you, Yvonne. Beautiful results! Joy.
Thanks so much for this video! I saved it Have 2 different racks as well sitting there staring at me. I'm now inspired to give them a whirl. Love all y'all do❣️😁
The magazine racks all turned out perfect. Thank you for the tips of using masking tape and applying the multipurpose paint with the cosmetic sponge. I have tried that with stencils and it now is my preferred method. Also the biggest tip of using the hair dryer when removing stencil vinyl. I used to get so frustrated when I would spend the time to prepare my surface for stenciling, only to have the paint come up when I removed the vinyl stencil. Not anymore! 😉
Thank you for sharing that some of the steps I do were helpful. Of yes.. frustration is real having tape remove paint.. I always hope I don’t forget that step.. it’s all those little tip everyone shares💕
Molly Brown wants to know if you use less paint when you use the sprayer? I told her that I think so, because the job would go faster and smoother 👍🌈🐕🤠
For as long as i can remember, my folks had a rack just like the one that you had to add the knobs to. At least 50 years. Love seeing it updated so it can be loved again.
Even though Chris doesn’t care to be in front of the camera, it’s great that you always acknowledge that it’s a dual effort. The success of your channel and businesses is a dual effort.
I adore all you both do one of my favorite sayings is “perfectly imperfect” and another one is beautifully broken! I have been working on sobriety for almost 4 years now I have thrown myself into crafting and learning how to upcycle items I have learned so much from watching you you definitely inspire
The magazine racks came out great. I had a magazine rack in my booth, I was going to pick it up tomorrow and bring it home to redo but found out it sold today l! Time to find another one!
Thank so much I have a magazine rack downstairs that I've been talking to my husband about doing and you gave me some great tips love you show your great works of art have a great day God bless
I redid a magazine rack similar to the one that you put the French words on. I use it to store some of my many vintage rolling pins and cutting boards. The black one with the greenery is beautiful 😍
Your daughter is on track. Storing vintage vinyl albums in magazine racks is trending. Mid century modern metal racks lend themselves to that hip aesthetic. Plants are a great idea. I had one in whicht I used to store coffee table books.
Couldn't sleep other night and was scanning UA-cam, came across young lady that liked Boho style and was decorating her home and parents bathroom, but the amount of tags she either painted over as in her words ' it's on the bottom no one will notice' and on newly brought pieces didnt cut of the plastic tags on her reveals.... I'm with you and could here you in my head saying' scrape off those price tags and cut of the plastic ones' it's just so frustrating. Great job this week think I liked the create one as it could be used as a cleaning products box. Xxx
Everything is beautiful! You and your husband do wonderful things. Thank you for showing us how you do things. I love the grain sack look, it takes patience.
She has great music ! Love that Neil Young album too!!! Beautiful job on the magazine racks too. My favourites were the grain sac one and the black one❤️
They all turned out great! I bet they go quickly. I’d like to have one for my laptop and kindle. I got a giant lazy Susan today at a thrift store!! So thought of you!
Thank you for your wonderful video. I have a couple of magizine racks, but you gave me some ideas of ways to use them. I use one to hold blankets and throws.
I had a “bread box” that was double decker and I would put English muffins/bagels in the top and loaf bread in the bottom. I ❤️ all your pieces!! Great job.
Hi Yvonne and Chris haven't seen magazine holders in years thrifting are garage sales they all came out lovely thanks for sharing. Prayers Blessings to you and Chris and both of your families Hugs Mildred!
My UpCycled Magazine rack, turns out to be a perfect charging station for my laptop, Chromebook, and tablet! I keep it beside my bed and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Some of the best videos on UA-cam. I would like to learn to work with greenery a little more as well as ADD feet or legs to low items to give them a higher profile.
Yes! I DO have 3 magazine racks that I had NO idea what to do. I actually have the exact same thing in the one that you painted plain black with no emblem on it. But, it’s got SO much wrong with it; missing veneer mostly. I have it put away just wondering how to redo it. It’s an antique too and belonged to my great aunt. Can you make a suggestion on what I can do with it? Thank you and Chris for showing us your talents! Love your thrift flips!
Oh.. thank you for sharing.. Are you wanting to paint it? May need to glue down any veneer that is lifting. Fill the veneer that is missing with Durham Water Putty.. if is available in your area . Or wood filler .. Sand smooth.. Primer paint or something to even out all the porosity. And paint you favorite color .
@@GingerChickRehab thank you so much for the info. I may need to order the putty that you use. We live in South Carolina. I’ll look on Amazon and see how I can order it. Yes, it looks like I may just paint it. Yours turned out beautifully! I do mainly small things, haven’t done furniture before. I still haven’t found a bread box. Lol
I love those magazine racks, you get them really cheap there. The pricing around here in marketplace is usually around 20 or 25 way too much to pay to resell I think. Those turned out beautifully
When you don't use a whole sheet for your stencils...do you ever use the remaining space for extra stencils? You could keep them for another project or sell them to people (like me☺) who don't have the machine to make them.
Not sure if it was your lighting, or my computer, but when you were spray painting black it looked dark grey. I was like, "What has she done?! Is she doing grey now??" As I continued to watch I could tell it was black then. I was worried about you for a minute, lol
Tell your daughter thanks for the record album holder idea! I am trying to decorate 2 rooms in a facility for my parents and I was wracking my brain for album storage. Thanks to you and Chris, I have thrifted and repurposed virtually everything in their rooms. You made it look so simple and achievable, that I tried my had at it. All of the pieces are perfectly imperfect....have you thought about merchandising that phrase? I'd buy a shirt!!
You might consider a 3D printer for your knobs-my contractor needed to replace some knobs and went to a place that could make them with a 3D printer cheap.
Great work as always, Yvonne! I'm obsessed with grain sack stripes too lol. I appreciate all your tricks and tips. Hope to have a booth of my own one day :)
Another enjoyable video. I do love the rack that has legs. I'd like to be close enough to run by your booth and grab it up. But living here in KY it's a little bit too far away😉 I do have one with no legs. I redid it after watching one of your earlier videos. It turned out really good since I followed your directions. I use it for my yarn caddy when I'm crocheting.
I’m sorry to say.. some how I forgot to add it.. I did just post it to my community post.. and a full reveal on Instagram.. so sorry.. can’t believe I missed it..
Always the professional! I can only hope that other flippers watch your videos to clue in on removing price tags and finishing the whole piece, including the bottoms! Your videos are well planned and don’t waste our time on deciding how a piece is going to be designed. Just curious what items didn’t turn out as you intended, and what did you do to fix it? Did you try to sell them and the didn’t sell? Perhaps a blooper video with items like this.
Thank you for your kindness. I try not to thrift an item without a vision. Or work though it until I love it. And share it all right in the video I’m doing.. but I like your thinking.. Food for thought
I’m so glad you taught us about the Durhams wood putty! It has saved my sanity when repairing a large piece I’m redoing.
I’m glad you found it helpful. Thank you for watching
So sorry that I forgot to add the reveal of the little cubby box.. I’ll post it on my community post... and Instagram.. My apologize 🖤🤍
Oh no, here too, please! I don't do Instagram or FB.
Is your Instagram the same name as UA-cam?
Yes .. Instagram is the same
Such beautiful transformation of items!!
Thank you
It's just amazing how you breathe new life into these old things that I would never think I would want in my house but after you've touched them it's incredible they just look so much better
Aww.. thank you for sharing that 🤍🖤
I also bought a similar peace that was missing a knob. I ended up making one out of air dry clay. Worked out pretty good.
Oh.. thank you for sharing that.. I’m definitely interested in trying that out sometime 🤗
Another option is know (Fancy or not) off of a perfume bottle. Just my five scents worth 😊
Just wanted to mention, you can saw a screw off shorter rather than drill out the wood piece. Just FYI. Love all ya'll do!! Beautiful!!
Thank you for sharing that tip
My husband and I use to make magazine racks, but we haven't made any in yrs, when people went to baskets for everything, they quit selling. So I may have to make one just to destress it. Lol, fantastic job. I loved them all but the white French one is my favorite.
Oh.. what a talent to make them. When we days our first few I was sure how they would sell. But surprisingly the do sell.. and basket to.. 🤍
This video showed some great transformation of thrifted items, thank you for sharing your techniques
Thank you for watching
Thank you! I love these! I have walk by magazine racks in the past, but won’t make that mistake again! They are awesome painted in GCR style. ❤️
Oh.. thank you for sharing.
I'm with you on the Price tags......I hate them. My grandmother taught me to use lemon oil. It actually works great
Thank you for sharing that 🤗
The sprayer is a time saver for sure. And a hand and back saver. Look forward to seeing the finished desk.
Oh.. that it is🤗
I, too, have fallen in immense like over the Durham water puddy. However, I've learned only black paint covers it. That puddy is a wonderful product!
Those racks turned our so beautiful. The rack with the knobbies and french design took my breath away!!!
Thank you, Yvonne. Beautiful results!
Joy.
Thank you for sharing that.. since we usually under coat or use prime to even the porosity out .. guess we never noticed that🤗
Great job all round
Thank you
Thanks so much for this video! I saved it

Aww.. thank you for sharing that 🤍
I love those magazine racks. They are so pretty!
Thank you
Those old magazine racks are also great for children's books.
Great idea. Thank you
I love the flips and just love the one with the legs!
Thank you
I learn something every time I watch one of your videos…..thank you for the step by step instructions. You are one of my favorites!!!
I love all your work on the pieces. I wish I had you for a neighbor... I would never get bored. I need motivation. I give your things a A Plus!🌹🌹🌹
Aww.. thank you.. we like neighbors 🤗
The black magazine rack was so beautiful! Good job on all of them.
Thank you 🖤
All nice flips! I like the caddy best. Using it for records is brilliant.
Thank you.. that was my daughters idea😉
Really nice work! Glad you are successful with your creativity!
Aww.. thank you

J'adore the French one! The text and the scroll stencil are a bit different than your go-to's but really elegant.
You make me so happy!!! I love watching you as I’m working on my pieces. You are incredible and you show how much you care 😊
Aww.. you are so sweet.. thank you ( love hearing that your working on projects...🥰
Nice work! Love your grain striping. I love when you say, "You don't know where these pieces have been." I always get a chuckle out of that!
Lol.. well if they talked, we’d probably not like to know anyway 🤗
Molly Brown wants to know if you use less paint when you use the sprayer?
I told her that I think so, because the job would go faster and smoother 👍🌈🐕🤠
That tall black one is my fav for sure
Thank you

I think I would like to take a magazine rack and flip it into a caddy for my crafting stuff!👍 Love your ideas!
Love them all.
The one you put the plants in would be great for a crochet or knitter too.
Oh.. love that idea
I like to use magazine racks for storing cookie sheets & cutting boards also.
Great idea.. thank you for sharing
The magazine racks came out great. I had a magazine rack in my booth, I was going to pick it up tomorrow and bring it home to redo but found out it sold today l! Time to find another one!

I really like the way you group similar items together for a group redo.
Thank you
I redid a magazine rack similar to the one that you put the French words on. I use it to store some of my many vintage rolling pins and cutting boards. The black one with the greenery is beautiful 😍

I have seen them use the magazine racks on the counter top in the kitchen to hold the smaller cookie sheets.
Thank you for sharing that
You're such a great teacher, Yvonne!
Aww.. thank you for your very kind compliment
You guys do such wonderful work. I do some redoing, thanks for all your tips. Love watching your videos.

Aww.. thank you
“The things” in French definitely sounds more fancy! Haha... Great job as always guys!
Lol.. yes I thought so too
I love those magazine racks, you get them really cheap there. The pricing around here in marketplace is usually around 20 or 25 way too much to pay to resell I think. Those turned out beautifully

Neil Young! 🤘 😁
Beautiful work. You have the best ideas 😍

Love how you customized each one to make them all a little unique! They are beautiful!
Thank you
Very inspiring, as usual. Thanks.
Thank you for watching and sharing that 🤍

Each one was done differently and each one is beautiful. Did you show the finished bread box looking one? I backed up the video but couldn't find it.
