I was in junior high back in the 90's when the P99 was the pistol of the future. It was the new gun of 007 and there was something about it that completely captured my imagination. I was so sad to see it finally discontinued but it's awesome that it had such a run and Walther even gave it a proper send-off with this Final Edition. I still think it's a cool gun. The paddle mag release is my favorite, the ergos are solid and the functionality is perfect. I wish DA/SA was still trending because there deserve to be more DA/SA poly frame striker guns out there, I prefer this over the pre-cocked striker for safer carry every day. Great video, cheers! 🍻

One more thing: Canik makes a DA/SA poly frame striker pistol called the TP9DA (which means it's the DA version of their TP9 pistol, not to be confused with the single action only TP9SA). Everything that people love about the Canik's was plagiarized from Walther. The crisp trigger with short reset was practically Walther's calling card and Canik just swiped it. Now that we're in the era of the pre-cocked striker, Canik's SFT and Mete guns are still just ripoffs of newer Walthers like the PPQ and the PDP. I guess for those who are still interested in a striker pistol in DA/SA format but somehow completely missed the boat on Walther's P99 (which will be remembered as a masterpiece by those who have tried it), the TP9DA might be a good option. But that's kind of like when you order a Coke and the waiter says they only have Pepsi, it's not exactly the same.
To answer your question, yes, there are still some P99 Final Editions floating around but they won't last forever. There will come a day when they'll run out and these will go up in value. Will it be enough that you should deny yourself the fun of shooting it now? That just depends on whether keeping your collection is pristine is more important than a fun range day. I will say that if you want to get a beater P99 to keep your Final Edition perfect, make sure you get a P99 AS. The "anti-stress" trigger was the P99's defining trait. The P99 QA (which stands for "quick action") is a P99 iteration that came out as people were transitioning away from DA/SA to go to pre-cocked strikers and it loses what made the P99 special in the first place.

Exactly, the P99 QA is just a pre PPQ, better to get the P99 AS. There is a reason all the Final Editions are the AS version.

I've been eyeballing that Canik but I think I would be happier picking up an older Walther . Thank you again for watching and commenting!! APPRECIATE YOU!!

Nice firearm. I owned one for a while but could never get used to the trigger. Walther makes great firearms. I like my Walther PPS M2 a lot.
