- Thanks to the person who recorded this piece!
Not without difficulty, I unearthed a score of this transcription (by Boris Gitburg) of the Allegro molto from Shostakovich's Eighth Quartet. But it's not exactly what Yuja Wang plays. What she plays is more difficult than what the score suggests (she often plays octaves where the score indicates single notes). And I confess that even as a page-turner, I'm not always sure of myself... Despite this, I'm posting this video to give an idea of the incredible virtuosity of this pianist…
I'm not too crazy about this transcription, but the Yuja performed it more than makes up for it.
Chostakovich?
famous soviet composer
@@yat_ii I was referring to the spelling. It is Shostakovich .
@@mackiceicukice it's a russian name, there are multiple different ways of transcribing it
@@yat_ii It’s Shostakovich in English. There are no multiple ways of spelling that surname in English. The sound “ ch” in English doesn’t correspond to Russian “ш” as in “Шостакович”. It’s ok to make a mistake . Enjoy his music.
@@mackiceicukiceIt's the french spelling, french "ch" is equivalent to the english "sh"
Love the wide variety inimitable Yuja brings to the fore. So many sound worlds to enjoy
I love Yuja's willingness to experiment but I much preferred the string quartet with Jansen and Maisky
Shostokovich?
Yes, Eusebius et... you are right. She plays way more than what is written in the score.
Magnificent Yuja Wang 👍👏🏻👏🏻🎶🎵🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
How about spelling the name of the composer correctly? Shostakovich
Шостакович
You're welcome.
J'ai recouru à la transcription française du nom, qui évidemment s'écrit en russe, comme l'indique la réponse ci-dessus.
Maybe you can share the score of this? So that it would be possible to read it closer?
I found it on the site of musescore. You'll also find it here.
Fabuleux!
