I absolutely love the corries. My grandad introduced me to their music when i was a little girl. And now, as an adult, i understand exactly whats going on 😂 and now im lucky i have a partner that loves them as much as me 😁
This is a good performance of this song. What pisses me off is that (maybe I am wrong here, please correct if so) the singer does not attribute the song to the composer (JAKE THACKRAY). He introduces it as if it's his song.
in fairness both the Corries and Jake Thackray were quite known in similar circles at the time, it's not also uncommon for the corries to have made funny quips at the start of their songs, most would have known it to be satirical .

My gran used to let me listen to this!
Never heard it set to music, but had heard the joke (lyrics with suspense) many years ago.
Only previously heard J Carrott cover! This Song Is Friggin Hilarious!!!!!!!!!!
renaklaas,
You're not wrong. Jake Thackray was a genius.
thackray!
Superbly funny song. Well performed but do like Jake Thackray's original version.
Anyone got lyrics?

Yes. Very naughty indeed.
But he didn’t say he wrote the song, so you’re wrong
