I took the plunge and did the free health test. I was most impressed with the service. I would recommend it, better to know and be able to do something, than it be too late.

Hi Marc, we had a neighbour like that. She was very comfortable asking for our help but was never available to return the favour. We started to say no to her and she got the message and stopped asking. I found it difficult to say no at first but when I did work up the courage it felt really empowering.

Happy New Year Marc. Say yes to the medical-better to pick up any problems early or get the all clear I say. I would also say maybe start to decline helping those that offer nothing in return!

Hi Marc. Your property looks lovely. I actually found a cabinet almost identical to yours years ago and for a long time used it for myTV. It’s a good piece of wood furniture. Eventually I put my TV on top of it, got a few baskets and used it for some storage, magazines, extra blanket, odds and ends. Works out well. Take care now. ❤

Yes, have a health MOT - worts and all.
Some folk take, take and take. Drop them as they're not good friends.
And, good fences make good neighbours - keep going. x

Happy 2024 Marc! Like you I do not have a TV but I do have my parents old TV cabinet: Mahogany w Chinese carvings on the doors... very beautiful. It is in my office with one shelf and I use it for my office supplies. Maybe you could use it for your UA-cam equipment. I would paint it white and keep the original hardware. Some white paint has a subtle blue tint. That would complement the light rug that has some blue flowers.

Welcome to france, its the way out here I have learnt, i have got sick of being used by people and have distanced myself from so called friends that are selfish and users and I have begun saying no, or to be more precise not offering to help in the first place without being asked like I used to, I know one or two people that help me without thought but we are a rare breed.
Re the medical, it is offered out her by the Government at special places because they are keen to be ahead of issues, usually it is for the elderly 😂😂, I've never been offered one, my mum has got hers soin and I know plenty of friends that have had them, its wirth having it done, they are very thorough I believe and do eyes and stuff. I have had all my cancer tests this year, letters sent to me for appointments, have it done,

It would depend on what the favour is, and why they cannot help. Personally I help friends out whenever I can because I want to help, not because I want something in return, if they can help me out sometime, great, but if not, it is not worth losing a friend over. I I would have the free medical check up, if they can detect something early than then it is cheaper for them and you to get it dealt with sooner rather than later. (f your garage always finds something wrong when you take it your car in for a check up, change garages, the mechanic I go to is very honest, and often does little bits and bobs for nothing as I am a returning customer).

Those people are what I call “users” and I have no qualm to distance myself if I feel I am being used or had enough. Orchard looks good, you could edge it with some soft fruit bushes or thornless blackberries or something like that and it will benefit you.😊

Favour's ? a very difficult subject. I have quite a few "friends" that just knock on the door and " have you got ? Can you do this, I cant do that can you. Its usually electrical or computers or sometimes even a little lathe or milling job. As I am retired it seems to be getting a lot more regular. The only time I asked someone for a favour it was "sorry not got the time". Well where the heck do think I get time ? Maybe I am just a miserable old git. Had a chap ring me 3 times today to sort out his printer. I live 16 miles from him. Managed to fix it over Teamviewer. That was 2 hours out of my life I will not get back. Always interested in your life Marc. Sometimes think I should have moved to France when I retired 15 years ago. Did think about it but the wife was not so keen. Oh well to late now. The fencing looks like hard work. A BIG dog would be my choice. 🙂 Have a great New Year. ATB regards from the UK

Number one ,it depends on what favour you are asking in return. If you have cut their grass a bit and then ask them to paint your house lol, not surprised they say no😂 and yes it would interesting to compare electric bills. As for the cabinet lol, not a clue 🤗

My monthly electricity bill in Thailand is around 85 euros. The household has a washing machine, 2 refrigerators, a small oven, a slow cooker, a kettle, a ceiling fan and a standing fan. air conditioning runs 12 hours.

Well in my opinion if you are happy to help someone for at least 3 times as a favour then ask for help for you and they say no.. First I would ask is there a problem with the help that is needed for you... if they say no ,I know what I be doing not doing them a favour again. Nice job on the fencing Marc getting there. Do you really need to fence off the orchard? Loved watching

Hello Mark don't do any more favours Mark for this person stop now as you have already been very generous. It sounds like they are a taker not a giver in return. Sometimes you just need to say no and this is one of these times. Don't overwork your body take a rest with the fence posts let your body recover for a few days. It was good to see a. Vlog popping up from you.

Would wood be cheaper! As you have loads around you, rather then using electric to heat your home. Medical yes, catch anything early enough…. No more favours sounds like a one way street! Help goes both ways.

Cancer specialist and that is it so make sure you get these tests done I worked until I was 71and I felt ok until thenxxxxxx

Morning Marc, I want to get a camera for UA-caming, can you possibly tell me what camera you’ve got or can you just use a smartphone, and I’m bringing my car over to France when the weather’s better, when I’m over there I’d love to swing by to say hi, would you mind, say no if you want to, best regards, John

Paint your cabinet the same colour as your cute kitchen shelf? New hardware?
As far as trading help goes, it would depend on the reason. If they didn’t have a valid reason for saying "no", then just stop helping them. Or, you can also give them a second chance. If it happens again, with no valid reason...then definitely stop. Some people are just "takers".

I suppose it depends on what the favour is that is being asked for. If a meal was supplied when you did your favour then they may feel they are not beholden or they may have something else going on that prevents them from helping at the time or they are not capable of helping? Don't know enough to really have an opinion on favours. I personally don't keep score and I never expect anything in return. So many different possibilities for the old TV stand. From a desk that closes up, to a kitchen cabinet, or anywhere you need some extra storage or side table. I've seen some really cute Shetland ponies for sale in France - just saying. Some are already trained of course they cost a bit more but they help with yard work, pulling wagons etc. great for harvests pulling the fruit/veg wagons, moving fire wood, tree trimmings, compost, they like to be busy, they live outside all year with a wind and rain shelter, they just need a wild field to live in, never mowed and the field needs to have the manure picked up - the horse will haul that for you too. The horse will haul it's own water. It would have hauled all those fence posts ;) Mark needs a pony to help with chores and for company. I bet you could build a wagon. I wonder if you could build a mini horse trailer, you could take the pony to work with you, might even attract more customers. I'm rambling. It's up to you, but some of your subs may help with cost of a pony.

I’m the sort of person who would help anyone who asks but unfortunately not everyone is the same, but if you get into a situation where you really need a hand your’ll most likely find someone who will help you but not necessarily the person or people who you helped previously, I think, there’s always someone who will help you and their the people who you want to keep friends with, I’ve got friends’ over here in the UK who l’v worked really hard for & saved them a fortune and they’re always too busy to return to favour, don’t be too quick to say yes Marc, John
