I've seen some general summaries of the video, but here's the full story for anyone interested (SORRY LONG POST): The opening scene is Deft walking to high school and sitting in class, the kid sitting all the way to the left at 2:01 with the glasses is Faker, the best League player of all time. They went to the same high school in Korea, but were never actually in the same class together, so they didn't know each other very well. The next scene is a sort of training montage taking place in 2013 - the first year Deft and Faker are both pros, where Deft is playing one of his most famous champions, Ezreal. He kills the blue buff - an NPC in the game that's very easy to beat, then looks over and sees Faker killing the Baron Nashor - the hardest NPC to kill in the game that gives your team a massive buff that can sometimes win the game for you. Faker is on Zed in this clip, his most iconic champion. The scene in Deft's bedroom is because he didn't qualify for the 2013 World Championship (Worlds) and is watching Faker win Worlds 2013 as a rookie, and begins practicing for next year. The desert scene is Deft playing Lucian at Worlds 2014 Semifinals on Samsung Blue, fighting against Pawn playing Jayce (from Arcane) on Samsung White, who would ultimately go on to defeat "Blue" and win Worlds 2014. The jungle scene is Deft on his new team, EDG from China. He's playing Sivir standing next to his support player Meiko playing Thresh. They're in the Worlds 2015 Quarterfinals against a European team led by Rekkles who is playing Kennen. They lose 3-0 getting swept in the series, and Deft falls yet again. In the next few years Deft lost again in the Worlds 2016 Quarterfinals, he did not qualify for Worlds 2017, lost in Worlds 2018 Quarterfinals to the eventual winners iG, did not qualify for Worlds 2019. None of these years are portrayed in the video. The next scene in the video after the jungle scene is the tundra scene. This is Worlds 2020 where Deft is playing Senna alongside his top laner Doran playing Jax, and support Keria playing Braum on Korean team DRX. The team they're playing against is Damwon Gaming, who would end up winning the whole tournament. Damwon's jungler and mid laner Canyon and Showmaker are playing Graves and Syndra, and would both become legendary players winning multiple Korean domestic titles, Worlds 2020, and making the finals of Worlds the following year. Deft qualified for Worlds 2021 but got swept 3-0 in the quarterfinals by T1 (They're basically the Yankees of LoL) with Faker playing mid lane. This is not shown in the video. Deft falling into the abyss represented his struggles after losing at the World Championship for the 6th time, 3 of which were to the eventual winners of the tournament. In 2022, DRX got a new roster: Kingen, Pyosik, Zeka, Deft, and Beryl. Beryl had won a World Championship on Damwon Gaming in 2020, but the rest of the team was considered average or inexperienced players. They were kind of the reject pile from other teams who didn't want them. Throughout 2022, DRX looked average in the Korean domestic league, finishing 5th in Spring and 6th in Summer (out of 10 teams). Their team got the lowest seed for Korea entering Worlds 2022. Among the 24 teams at the tournament, most people thought they were probably around the 8th-10th best team. His teammates pick him up out of the abyss, and when they get in the arena, they see Meiko - Deft's support player from EDG all those years ago in 2015, and who is currently the reigning World Champion support player from 2021. DRX defeat EDG in the quarterfinals. This is Deft's first time making semifinals at Worlds since 2014. They come up against Gen.G - the number 1 seed from Korea and joint favorites for the tournament. Their top laner Doran, another ex teammate of Deft, is playing Renekton whose ultimate makes the champion bigger, which is why he looks so big in the video (this is kind of a meme now). DRX defeat Gen.G in a huge upset win. They move on to the Finals against T1 and Faker. Back where it all started, Deft faces Faker 10 years after his debut season, and another former teammate Keria playing Viktor and Karma respectively. Deft is playing another signature champion of his Caitlyn, who uses the sniper. In the best finals that the World Championship has ever seen, DRX beat T1 3-2 to win Worlds 2022. The final scene are the players who qualified for Worlds 2023, which is currently ongoing. Following the tournament live, it was literally like a movie. The script was so perfect for Deft to finally get the win he'd been chasing for a decade. Facing former teammates at every step along the way.
Deft, the main character and winner of last year Worlds after losing for 10 years, said that the scene where he was in the depth of an abyss and his then team DRX picked him up is one of the scenes that touched him the most because they literally did that: Picked him up, when no one wanted him because they wrote him off.
I know NOTHING of League of Legends and the story that unfolded here which was from last year and I have goosebumps. When I researched the story and I rewatched this again, I almost cried. I am so emotionally invested now in these characters in this event, and I am clueless about League of Legends!!
In one line the song went “heart, unbreakable”. It got me so bad when I found out that this is basically what he said when he was interviewed about losing, again. (Something about having an un-breakable heart).
This video actually shows the story of the player Deft who one the Worlds Championship for the first time ever last year. He and the world's most known LoL player "Faker" where in the same school (first scene) and both became pro players but Faker won the World Championship several times with his team. just adding few small facts. this whole video depicts Deft fighting with and later against former teammates. (Meiko, Keria). Keria is special, its the guy that dies to the purple balls so deft survives but still looses. Keria promised an championship title to deft but he didnt manage to. Last year Keria joined SKT (Team of Faker) and in the final, Deft played against his former teammate keria and destroyed him. The last scenes where he fights 2 guys in black and red dresses, those players are keria and faker. Also since 2 of u watched arcane. the final scene depicts deft playing caitlyn and faker playing viktor. You should know these names from arcane.
@@ceadeusx Didnt SKT LoL team rebrand to T1 at the end of 2019 season? Additional info you didnt mention - Deft team was DRX , he left them straight after Worlds22 and is now with DPlus KIA (his 10th/11th team) [Edited mispelled team name].
Towards the end of the scene, I have learned since, that Keira (?) his team mate who sacrificed himself for Deft, and saw Deft as a mentor, moved at Deft’s encouragement to a winning team, with the long time champion Faker. At the end there it was Faker who protected Keira. That’s a double blow. Failure not only in games but as a senior member, his forever competitor ended up being the one who protected Keira, while Keira “died” in the game for Deft and they still lose that year. Once again, until a few days ago I don’t know these guys existed!!!!
