So this is the story of the video: Deft (the main character in the video) is an ADC who had always struggled trying to win Worlds. He went to the same high school as Faker (who you can see in the opening scene at the school) and viewed him as a rival of sorts. Imagine watching your high school classmate become the greatest league player of all time while you're struggling to even make the Worlds tournament. We see Deft's defeats throughout the seasons, including one with his former teammate support Keria (who dies as Braum in the video). He gets wrecked but he tries again and again to eventually reach the Worlds Finals in 2022, where he has to overcome his lifelong obstacle, Faker. He even goes up against his former teammate Keria in the finals, who has now teamed up with his rival Faker! You can see Deft playing Caitlyn towards the end of the video, which is the champion he played in the deciding match which he won. Defeating his lifelong rival and bittersweetly his former teammate too. Simply poetic.
@@rachbirt no worries! I'm arguably a bigger fan of Newjeans than LoL now but happy to share my little knowledge. Also love your reaction vid! Very genuine and straight to the point :D
It gets even better, apart from Faker and Rekkles, every player in this video is a former or current teammate of Deft, not just Keria. Faker was Deft's idol (in terms he had the success Deft always wanted), Deft was Rekkles' idol. So: Deft 2014 lost to Pawn (teammate the year before) This was also the year were Deft's team was supposed to be the best in the world and win. (2018 too but that's not shown in the video) Deft & Meiko 2015 lost to Rekkles (who managed to beat his idol way before Deft does) - also a year where his team, EDG, was supposed to win (as they won the prior tournament against Faker & his team) Deft & Doran & Keria 2020 lost to ShowMaker and Canyon (Deft's current teammates) 2022: Deft / DRX defeat Meiko and his former team, EDG (and Scout, also former teammate), reigning world champions, in quarters, Doran and GenG (and Chovy, also former teammate), best team in Korea, in Semis, Keria and Faker and T1 (the most successful player and team in history) in finals. You couldn't write a better story even if you hired the best writer in the world. Plus DRX was considered to be the weakest Eastern team at worlds and their chances to win were probably close to 1% or even lower. It's also a nice lesson. The years he was supposed to be the best and win, he lost in quarters and got tons of hate. The year no one believed in him and there were no expectations, he won the worlds trophy. Sorry for the essay lmao
@@rachbirtThis is the Anthem for the League of Legends World Championship (also called WORLDS) The music video portrays a pro player named Deft and his journey into becoming the Worlds Champion. In the first part, he went to the same high school with Faker, who achieved glory early on in his career and won 3 World Championships (seen as him slaying the bigger monster 'Baron') The next few scenarios are him trying to win the championship with some of his former teammates • In 2014, he was knocked out by Samsung White (Pawn who holds a long hammer) in Semis • In 2015, He and his former teammate Meiko (the one with lantern) was knocked out by Fnatic (Rekkles with Electic shurikens) at quarterfinals • He then goes fast forward getting barraged by attacks as he gets kicked out multiple times (2016 - Quarterfinals, 2018 - Quarterfinals) • He was knocked out from Quarterfinals in 2020 too with his former teammate Keria (with the shield) who promised him they will win the trophy (They lost to eventual champions Damwon Gaming) • Deft was thrown down deep and his new squad raised him up as they rise from the bottom as the underdog who had to fight through play-ins up to Finals. • He meets his former teammate Meiko in Quarterfinals in a reverse sweep with his Draven (spinning axe) • He also meets his former teammate Doran (giant) • He finally meets Keria again, but as an enemy in the Grand Finals, with Faker, the undisputed GOAT and whom he went to the same high school with. • Deft's team is shown in their final picks in the final game of Worlds that led them to their trophy (The Trophy Deft has been chasing since 2013) Trivia: 2022 League of Legends Worlds Championship Finals received Sports Emmys for "Esports Championship Coverage" for the Cinderella run made by this team. Fun fact about it. The other players he defeats in the final tournament are also all former Teammates of him. Meiko (Renata) back in EDG (also seen in the video against Rekkles on Kennen), Doran (renekton) which he played together with in KT (couldn't reach worlds) and of cause Keria
also to add that the mv is great in showing deft's development as a player, his failures, and his 2022 worlds cinderella run in which he battles his former teammates to win it all.
For anyone wondering the MV, Here's the context: The video follows Deft's journey through his career. Here's context: So Deft started back in 2013 along side with Faker who was much better than Deft. In 2014 he got his first big break for success. He made it to the semifinals where he would then fall to his sister team in Samsung White. (As seen in the desert fight.) In the follow year he left his home country of Korea to join EDG who was located in China. He would then fall in quarterfinals with his teammate Meiko (a chinese player) to a European team in Rekkles who was also young in his career. Deft would then sit back and get barraged by random attacks which is a reference to the same thing every year. Then it cuts to the 2020 Run with his two other teammates in Doran and Keria. He would then fall again in Quarterfinals with Doran and Keria both leaving teams (Deft also left the team for a year). Deft later returned to DRX (the 2020 team) for his final year (Cause he said at the time, he was going to do his mandatory military service in which a graduate male Korean student is forced to do. Deft did graduate on the side while playing the game competitively.). His 2022 run was his last dance on a team that struggled domestically. But barely qualifying for the Worlds as the worse team from Korea. Deft and his team had to go through so many champions of regions (Europe Champions, Korea's Champions, Winners Tournament aka MSI Champions, Vietnam Champions, Defending World Cup Champions, the perfect season champions.) Then Deft and his 4 other teammates had to go through the defending Worlds Champions in the first round who is none other than his old team EDG with Meiko. Then had to go through Korea's Champions who had 2 of Deft old Teammates in Doran and Chovy (Chovy was also on DRX in 2020). And finally his ex teammate he had to take down is Keria. But Keria was with the same guy at the start of the video. The same guy Deft went to school with, Faker. 10 years after both walking difference paths with Faker always being better than Deft. And Deft making the miracle run for the ages. Deft then complete his last dance as he took down the same kid who was better than him 10 years ago.
When I first heard it I was *SHOOK* because like Newjeans always have an energetic type songs and this is different so I was in love with it I still love it

If you listen to their covers they have the ability to do soo many genre it's just what their company limits them to
