    Some of these comments are so disgusting to read. I know Leigh-Anne as a lighter skinned woman was getting some backlash for doing this documentary, but there are so many lighter skinned women that would never use their privilege to speak on issues like colorism because they benefit from it. So I am very proud of Leigh-Anne for being aware of her privilege as a lighter skinned woman and using that and her platform to raise awareness on these issues

    Some of those comments are actually disgusting. What Leigh is addressing in this documentary is something that is needed to be SHOUT about. And if this makes me uncomfortable that mean you’re part of the problem.
    I’m proud of her to speak up about it and can’t wait to watch the documentary.

    • @ohwellwhateverr
      @ohwellwhateverr 3 роки тому +3

      If you’re unwilling to acknowledge the facts and choose instead to rely on anecdote and manipulative sob stories, then YOU are the problem. I believe in racial equality and equal opportunity. And lecturing black people that they’re oppressed, they’re inferior, they have no chance of being successful in this world, yada yada, only serves to further marginalise black people.
      The hard left (where woke/identity politics stems from) has got this totally wrong. That’s why people are moving in droves to conservatism, which doesn’t judge your worth by your appearance but instead by your willingness to work hard. People like Thomas Sowell, John McWhorter, Joy Villa, Ayishat Akanbi, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Coleman Hughes, Inaya Folarin Iman, Candace Owens, etc... they get it. Not these privileged, multi-millionaire celebrities (however talented they may be, and I really like Leigh Anne and LM, this isn’t a personal attack on her).
      Culture, class and socio-economic demographic are bigger predictors of your status in life than race is. White working class boys are the lowest academic achievers in this country, they’re also most likely to remain in poverty or end up in jail. Yet where are their scholarships to Oxbridge, or high profile solidarity campaigns? Instead they’re bombarded with messaging that tells them they’re privileged white males with unearned status. How do you think that feels for a kid sitting in a cramped 2 bedroom flat in a shitty council estate?
      At the other end of the scale is South-East Asians, who outperform the rest of us academically and out-earn us too. There’s also a huge difference between West African diaspora (more likely to have 2-parent households that encourage scholarly pursuits) and Afro-Caribbean blacks (more often single parent households which don’t hold those values). This is far more complex and culturally-determined issue than the single-dimension narrative that the media is presenting.

    This conversation is definitely nothing new because the issue is older than dirt wherever colonialism has touched down in human history. I absolutely commend her for taking a stand and trying to help others understand. Only obstacle there may be is well, the people who need to watch it won't and the ones who already know through and through will watch it out of moral support. This needs to be taught in homes, schools, churches on how to uplift each other out of the muck we've been forced to play in for so many centuries. Racism is real and a subsequent heirloom of that is self hatred for the oppressed. If your parents agree light is right, dark skin , coily hair, larger features is bad and media is making money off the same...then that's what you'll worship, not just believe. Even if it's spitting at your own heritage in the mirror. Thank goodness I had better examples to follow before there was ever such a thing as "social" media creating and or exacerbating all these anti social disorders.

      yes i agree with u people who care will watch this and people who don’t won’t so it may not change much but since she has such a strong fanbase and such a young fanbase people who don’t know much about racism or may even be internally racist may watch this and learn something from it. also i feel the fact that she’s bringing up both colourism and racism will also enlighten some who are more educated about racism and less about colourism and vice versa.
      overall i think this documentary might not change the world necessarily but any change that it will bring will definitely be good :)

    I get what Leighanne is trying to do, especially wanting more diversity in the creative teams, and it takes courage to make this documentary. I was a bit disappointed with the solution of “the black fund” though, because for me it just fights racism with racism. We need to highlight the issues and remove all barriers right at the bottom in order that people get there on merit and not because of the colour of their skin. Littlemix were manufactured on a tv show so inevitably there were choices made for “marketing” reasons that could be taken all sorts of ways. It would be nice to see this come about organically without any intervention. Hopefully by raising awareness of the issues, discussing them fairly and honestly to encourage better representation in all walks of life this might just happen one day?

Love to see her so comfortable in finding her voice and her WELL EARNED self confidence it is the most beautiful thing .
