Pleased with Rodon but what niggles me is the profit and sustainability rules encourage clubs to sell homegrown players as it’s 100% profit. It’s no doubt unintentional but it’s the fans that suffer.

Thanks Ger. FFP makes it very hard for clubs to rise from the lower leagues, and when they do most are destined to return back to whence they came. The big clubs have it sown up, they don't require major rebuilds, they don't get their big name players poached and they share the silverware between them. Not gaining promotion to the prem comes at a cost and that cost is losing Archie unfortunately! I’m happy if we get good money for kamara, I like him but think we could replace him first a more goal scoring threat in his position!
I'd be well happy at Kamara leaving, we need a complete change in that midfield, it was one of the main reasons for the wheels coming off ,at the end. With Gray gone as well, you'd imagine this area is gonna have a revisit with regards to reinforcement/signings? Imagine having a nosebleed at Elland Road, the stares and suspicion would be so overwhelming?!

I remember some fans being up in arms a few years ago when we sold Jack Clarke to Spurs and he was around the same age. His career stalled after that because you are buying potential and that potential is not always realised. If you're getting Premier League money then maybe you can take the risk. Until we are back in the Premier League all our players will be at risk although the 49ers can now say no to any requests for other players. While some may say this is modern day football it has always happened, remember Jordan and McQueen to Man U and that was pre Bosman.
Not sure Rose and Lennon reached their potentials at Spurs, seems like a club that doesn't take young players to the next level, Harry Kane had go through several loans before he came good for them and Bale was injury prone, maybe its their training/fitness regimes that knobbles them much like it used to at Arsenal

Not many come back, we've been saying the same about James Milner since the Bielsa days but it never happened. David Batty was one exception and Sam Byram another.
For me if we will really want to make a move next season when we will play teams who want to sit in we need to ditch the two holding mids and transition much quicker
Having got through the sadness of losing Gray to Spurs and having read a bit more about the circumstances now I'm annoyed. Remembering all the upset last Summer when some players used clauses in their contracts to get away from the club and not fight for the cause (including threatening legal action). Less than a year later in his first professional contract he asks for a release clause to be put into that contract if we didn't go up. He only got his chance because of other players having release clauses and he claims he loves the club, but he was quite happy to do what others had done less than a year before. If we had, had realistic bids for others we may well have sold other star players only for him at the first chance to kick in his release clause.
If Gray wants to go then off he goes. personally i never really saw the potential that others see, if he develops as he gets older then fair play to him. Doubt he would ever be welcomed back at leeds tho. Rodon staying is a good thing, of course that was part of the negotiation for gray.
Sad to lose Archie - he's going to be a superstar along the lines of Gareth Bale if he fulfills his potential. Shame he couldn't stay. Delighted Joe Rodon is coming permanently. Absolutely gutted. We should have just broke the P&S rules and laughed in their face when we got promoted. Archie will be 80m in a couple of years and would have been a mainstay in our European team in five. People thinking we got a good deal will be the same people moaning when Joe Rodon is put on his arse by every half-decent winger in the Prem.
Just hope we don’t have to wait too long now for incomings. If all the players rumoured to be going do go alongside those already gone from loans or end of contract then we could be looking at easily 10 incomings to get the balance right. Not convinced we will. As for the kit, it’s generic and prob give it a miss. Understand the red issues but Leeds did have an all red kit once upon a time so not too fussed that a sponsor has red in it but maybe that could have been thought through.

No point selling Kamara for that. We only paid that much and he’s a great utility player. Big fan of his (he needs to shoot more) and he certainly has his place in the squad with Archie leaving. Needs to be 8mil or more like 10mil imo to make it worth considering imo.

I would love Kamara to go and keep Gruev. Not a big fan of Kamara. Not sure what his position is. He sure isn’t a six and he is not really an 8. At least with Gruev who I think can get better you know he is a six. He can alternate with Ampadu for that position and Ampadu can also fill in at centre back like last season. With Kamara he just does not do enough for me going forward. I would prefer swapping him out with AO Tanaka and bringing in another attacking midfielder as well if necessary.

We need to remember that besides the PSR aspect, Leeds have to make good on transfer instalments. The overly high transfer fees for low quality players have to be met. The investment money is there. As was said it helps with the psr but leeds always said it would have th make trade offs and a big player sale was expected. The investment money and the archie sale now put leeds in a much stronger position when it comes to Summerville sale. Leeds are down 150 million in prem TV money, the parachute payments dropped 30% this year and leeds wage bill is one of the highest of not the highest in the division.
Sad to learn Archie has a release clause after his new contract in Jan… it’s now starting to look more like he wants to go rather than the initial narrative that he was “forced”
got to remember 49ers 'INVESTMENT' arm means investors and investors want to make a profit, they aren't in it for football they are in it for money no matter what they say, hence not wanting to fork out for police abroad, selling a lot of players, lets see some actual investment in the squad now.

If we pay more than 4.2M for Rodon we will have been ripped off, so I don't hold any hope that this deal is going to be favourable to Leeds. We need to offload Cree and Gnonto as a matter of urgency, we need to have a more balanced front 3 or four even if we keep the serial medical chair tenant in the squad! This would make the Brentford deal much better...... but that ship has sailed.

The way he get the ball and does little fades and movements and creates spaces for himself is quite incredible at times .

Not many come back, we've been saying the same about James Milner since the Bielsa days but it never happened. David Batty was one exception and Sam Byram another.

It was a release clause in the contract Archie signed. Brentford met it but not in the appropriate structure.

Having got through the sadness of losing Gray to Spurs and having read a bit more about the circumstances now I'm annoyed. Remembering all the upset last Summer when some players used clauses in their contracts to get away from the club and not fight for the cause (including threatening legal action). Less than a year later in his first professional contract he asks for a release clause to be put into that contract if we didn't go up. He only got his chance because of other players having release clauses and he claims he loves the club, but he was quite happy to do what others had done less than a year before. If we had, had realistic bids for others we may well have sold other star players only for him at the first chance to kick in his release clause.

If Gray wants to go then off he goes. personally i never really saw the potential that others see, if he develops as he gets older then fair play to him. Doubt he would ever be welcomed back at leeds tho. Rodon staying is a good thing, of course that was part of the negotiation for gray.

Sad to lose Archie - he's going to be a superstar along the lines of Gareth Bale if he fulfills his potential. Shame he couldn't stay. Delighted Joe Rodon is coming permanently. We can now bring in a few other players - I would love to see Callum O'Hare and Sammie Szmodics come in, plus I think if Meslier goes, we should push the boat out and go for Caomhin Kelleher from Liverpool in goal.
Think the Archie deal has changed and Rodon is now part of the deal in a cash plus player swap. Think this means Rodon is registered as a freebie on the books and sorts out PSR for next season? Also most of the Archie cash is up front 👍

Hi Ger excellent update, still not happy with Archie leaving but that's football and we move on, would be great if we could loan him back for this season, but also being an Aussie I am glad he is going to Spurs rather than Brentford

Our home shirt Red bull are usually advertising marketing mad so I'm very surprised it's just the logo with out Red bull which.ive only ever seen the complete logo and Red bull name, presumably Red bull.is bound to be on 2nd & 3rd which I always prefer. Absolutely gutted. We should have just broke the P&S rules and laughed in their face when we got promoted. Archie will be 80m in a couple of years and would have been a mainstay in our European team in five. People thinking we got a good deal will be the same people moaning when Joe Rodon is put on his arse by every half-decent winger in the Prem.

Just hope we don’t have to wait too long now for incomings. If all the players rumoured to be going do go alongside those already gone from loans or end of contract then we could be looking at easily 10 incomings to get the balance right. Not convinced we will.
As for the kit, it’s generic and prob give it a miss. Understand the red issues but Leeds did have an all red kit once upon a time so not too fussed that a sponsor has red in it but maybe that could have been thought through.

No point selling Kamara for that. We only paid that much and he’s a great utility player. Big fan of his (he needs to shoot more) and he certainly has his place in the squad with Archie leaving. Needs to be 8mil or more like 10mil imo to make it worth considering imo.
If Kamara goes to Rennes I think we should get O’Hare from Coventry to replace him
O'Hare is a 10, Kamara a CDM. Not like for like replacement. I'd argue to get O'Hare anyway. And then look for an 8

I would love Kamara to go and keep Gruev. Not a big fan of Kamara. Not sure what his position is. He sure isn’t a six and he is not really an 8. At least with Gruev who I think can get better you know he is a six. He can alternate with Ampadu for that position and Ampadu can also fill in at centre back like last season. With Kamara he just does not do enough for me going forward. I would prefer swapping him out with AO Tanaka and bringing in another attacking midfielder as well if necessary.

Release clause for Archie, Villa talked to him first, then Brentford now Spurs. Really important to be quiet. All that matters is the team we have at the end of the window. Everything is just noise.
We need to remember that besides the PSR aspect, Leeds have to make good on transfer instalments. The overly high transfer fees for low quality players have to be met. As for Archie. £40m for a 18yr old is good business. Yes, he's a Gray, and sentiment and emotional anger will be there. But it's a business, and we will move on.
Selling our best players and replacing them with players who are not good enough for the premier League isn't ambition the amount of dead wood still on the books at Leeds United is unbelievable when Summerville goes we are done and left with a team that wouldn't challenge for the league one title we are so far away from being a premier League team now than we have ever been and going in the wrong direction

The investment money is there. As was said it helps with the psr but leeds always said it would have th make trade offs and a big player sale was expected. The investment money and the archie sale now put leeds in a much stronger position when it comes to Summerville sale. Leeds are down 150 million in prem TV money, the parachute payments dropped 30% this year and leeds wage bill is one of the highest of not the highest in the division.
Sad to learn Archie has a release clause after his new contract in Jan… it’s now starting to look more like he wants to go rather than the initial narrative that he was “forced”

The strip looks well..... "awful" (don't mind the RB logo but is should not be that big), as far as the Germans are concerned, then just have your pre season elsewhere I' am sure the tourist industry there wouldn't mind the loss of business? Now about the Ag deal is the deal for "cash" £40m upfront or is it 15M for Rodon and 25 million for AG, if that's the case then that is an incredibly poor deal to negotiate and my suspicion this is what's happened we have given in to sentiment! If we pay more than 4.2M for Rodon we will have been ripped off, so I don't hold any hope that this deal is going to be favourable to Leeds. We need to offload Cree and Gnonto as a matter of urgency, we need to have a more balanced front 3 or four even if we keep the serial medical chair tenant in the squad! This would make the Brentford deal much better...... but that ship has sailed.
