Good overview, but a little biased towards coilovers. For example, Fox 2.5 and 3.0 options for JLs offer excellent ride quality and articulation for enthusiasts without the cost & hassle of a coilover conversion.
You can, but depends on if the ball joints are bad. You can replace them with upgraded ball joints. We just found some made in the USA by apexchassis.com/ that we really were impressed with. Very well designed. Or go with a ball joint eliminator kit.
everyone wants a coil over? How can you trust someone that only wants to sell the most expensive parts? I have much GR parts, pretty much regret money spent after hindsight research. To each their own, not knocking GR, but you can for sure do it cheaper.
My thoughts exactly. lol I have outwheeled many a guys with coil overs. Don’t get me wrong, they are in the future, but I would say I am a Jeep enthusiast rolling on a coil and a shock.
I definitely have a problem with the term 'true enthusiast'. If someone has deep pockets they're obviously going to be able to afford gear like that. People just want to wheel and not get caught up in all this 'true enthusiast' garbage.
It’s tough to say a “true enthusiast” because there are a lot of them but not everyone can afford Coilovers cuz they’re freaking expensive
My coil spring Jeep rides a whole lot nicer than my coilover Jeep. The coilovers' only true advantage over coil springs is adjustability

Is their anything else that may need changing like ball joints once you replace coilovers or struts & shocks?

Good stuff
Every jeep should come with coilovers. But no one can afford them.
