Very interesting . So I'm assuming the line is still being used. Would like to see a train going through them. Well done . Incredible history.
The ATN has tunnel motor SD-40's and SD-45's on its roster. That would make sense and be a sight to see coming out of these tunnels.
Awesome..My last name is Hardwick!
There's a old abandoned train tunnel in the woods right off hwy 174 between Odenille and Pell City
Where exactly?
Hardwick tunnel is just a few miles north of me. It would be cool for you to do a video about the nearby Coal City area. I know where some of the coke ovens are.
Grew up about 2 miles from Hardwick and spent a great deal of my childhood wandering the tracks there. Have you ever been out to the old racetrack on the other side of the tunnel?
I live about a mile (as the crow flies) from Roper now and I’m planning on checking it out as well, I’ve never seen it.
