On short runs I’ve been known to not gate calves. But on longer ones they tend to crowd forward and if one goes down they will crush it. Long run for me is 900 - 1400 miles
Hey my man, I have another question for ya. Lol. I know being a cattle hauler takes a special breed of man to do and its not for everybody. What are those characteristics? Long hours? Irregular hours? Working with live cargo? Im not really interested in hauling cattle but just curious. Im a driver in the oilfield in 🇨🇦 and I know my job isnt for everybody and takes a special breed of man also. We work in horrible weather, snowstorms, torrential rain, piss poor roads, chaining up several times a day, mountainous terrain in the absolute middle of nowhere and I know thats not for everybody so I'm just curious. Thanks dude!
Hauling cattle would feel like a walk in the park compared to hauling in the oil fields in Canada. Definitely long hours also very irregular schedule. Some people can’t get past the fear of working with animals either. Or are just to naive about the strength of livestock etc. These days it seems like it takes a special breed to just be willing to work for starters.
@@VaughnDallasVance Oh ok. That makes sense. I'm pretty intimidated by horses, just casue of their size but I can easily see a city slicker being scared of cows and such. And holy sh*t yes!!! Around here, you drive 5 blocks, you see 25 help wanted ads but on every single corner there's somebody trying to panhandle. 🙄🙄

For me... Loading the top floor was the most stressful. The nose and the dog house was easy, but getting that top floor I always was on (extra) guard.

Why do you center gate all the time? We just put the whole lot in the top and bottom. Just curious. I don’t go very far if that is the reason.
