Hey everyone! I have been getting a lot of reports of people having issues with moving the on screen controls at all with the new update. I have been doing an immense amount of testing, and it seems that anything that is not exactly a 16x9 project is being affected. I am digging deeper to see if there's some sort of fix I can implement. But in my testing, it seems to be directly related to FCP 10.8., at least as far as I can tell. Unfortunately, I am very limited in what I can do for fixes, as I did not program the plugin controls. Everything that is in the plugin has been published over using Apple Motion. All of the controls you see are created by Apple. So when there is a bug, I have to wait for that same bug to be fixed for everyone. I will keep on trying though and hopefully get you back up and running!
Hi Dylan! In this update When I use the pro zoom on a 9:16 project and a want to duplicate using option key, the plugin doesn’t preserve settings.. only preserve when I use Comman + C / Comman + V. Do you know what could be happening?

I was about to run through and explain how this update is going to improve my use of the plugin drastically, but you've added so many features that once I started writing I thought, this comment is going to be WAY to long. Even the simple thumbnail change is going to help out because I'd often grab a pan when I meant to grab a zoom. Awesome, awesome update, Dyl.
massive update. one little note i'd like to share: the installer. it might seem small for some, but installing plugins (finding the folder, checking if the names are alright, etc) is a massive headache for me. you included an installer that updates the plugin with 2 clicks of a button. i love it brother ❤

Amazing update! I can't tell you how much time this has saved me in my videos, where I use subtle zooms/pans a lot. I used to keyframe zooms and pans manually, and now I use your Titles and you've turned hours into seconds. Keep up the great work! Cheers!

I don't know if anyone has ever asked you about this: Would you ever consider making effects that animate text. I use Tap5 a lot, but I'd be really excited to see what you would create for content creators alike! Also, you are my favorite content creator for anything Final Cut related. 😀
Looks fantastic. I think I'm going to pull the trigger. Simon Ubsdell did a quick video on the Kalaidotile effect in Motion which gave the illusion of more photo etc when you are rotating (so it fills the corners. I thought of this when you were doing the demo on multi pan. I have no idea how hard it would be to implement but it could be cool addition. Thanks Dylan.
I actually was considering implementing something like that! I have that extension effect in my Handheld plugin. The only issue is that it drops resolution on whatever it’s applied to. That’s not a big deal on shots that are staying the same size. But it’s super noticeable on zoomed footage. I’ll keep toying with it though and see if that is something that can be added!
I was definitely feeling it in that very moment 😂 I had so many things go wrong right before the release of this update. I was feeling so defeated. But here we are!
That was a multi-day project in it of itself to figure out! Turns out all I needed to do was link a new 3D camera to the old 3D camera position, and it fixed all the issues. Only took about 5 minutes once I figured that out 😅

Just bought this plugin but there seems to be a slight error about it - the pro zoom tool doesn't apply the build out effect if the layer is less than 2 seconds long, for those fast paced ins and outs it would be perfect if it worked! Maybe it can be patched? Otherwise the plugin is perfect, thanks!
Unfortunately, that’s an issue with how FCP treats Motion Templates and isn’t patchable. But it’s a super simple fix! If you just cut the title in half, and select build in on the first title, and build out on the second title, it resolves that issue! Unfortunately because I’m only designing these plugins using Apple Motion, I’m limited by whatever Apple has enabled in the software. So I can’t do anything more than that. Hope that helps!
AddMotion has way more easing functionality than this! If you’re looking for animation, I’d 100% use AddMotion. This is much more designed around easily moving clips around the screen. AddMotion doesn’t have a way to easily reset the clip back to its original state, which is why this plugin is helpful for clip movement. But AddMotion has far more more options when it comes to dynamic animation!
Hi Dylan, my Pro Zooms seems broken after installing this update, I can no longer adjust the zoom level (how much you want to zoom in) with the box inscreen. Any solution?

For some reason, I'm still seeing all the "socials" titles etc. I think everything just duplicated into the effects/titles folders. I can't differentiate the new titles from the old ones. Are we supposed to be deleting the old version? Not sure why it's still showing the socials and everything
All the social titles will stay there. That’s so that it doesn’t break old projects that might have used them. As for all the other versions, like the regular Pro Zooms, those should be automatically overwritten! You’ll be able to tell they are different if the Blue is a bit darker than the original Social Titles. More like a 10 hour build video 😂 let’s just say the link parameter behavior is the absolute most powerful behavior in all of motion. 95% of everything in these plugins is driven from that.
Great update! Only issue is that when I installed 2.0, there was no Pro Burns added under Titles, just the Pro Burns Pan. The Effects were fine. I was able to go into the package contents & see that the Pro Burns folder under Titles wasn't listed...
Woah you're right! Thanks for the heads up. I just did a deep dive, and it looks like the app I am using to create the installer is having a hard time with the Pro Burns plugin. I am working on getting that addressed and will have a fix out shortly!

Yes! Even if you did previously use the Social versions, you would still take those same steps. It's more so just saying don't go in and delete the old social tools, otherwise that might break them. But this plugin will automatically install everything for you, and it will leave the social tools completely alone!

Hey there! Just purchased pro zooms 2.0 and this is a gamechanger! Just need to ask you what am I doing wrong, because the pro zoom effect's build out animation don't work. Maybe I'm missing something
That’s due to how FCP works with Motion Templates. Unfortunately, for me to enable the animation speed slider up to 2 seconds, that means the title needs to be at least 4 seconds long, so it can have a build in and build out animation. But that said, it’s super easy to get around! Just cut the title in half, and then select build in on the first half, and build out on the second half. I’m limited by whatever Apple enables in the software, since I build it all just using Motion. I’m not actually programming anything. And that’s a direct limitation with Motion templates. Hope that helps!
Hi. Thank you for building these. I have FCP 10.8 and Pro Zooms 2.0 and have a problem scaling the Pro Zoom using the handles like you show in this video and the tutorial. I also tried Multi Pan and position B is somehow locked to x=0.19 and y=-0.05. I can neither move the on screen control nor change the values using the Inspector. As I don't know which button to check/uncheck in Motion, I haven't figured out a solution yet. Am I using it correctly? I can share a screen recording if needed. EDIT: I downloaded 1.4 and I could scale the box in the Zoom text effect and move point B in the PAN text effect.
Yes there seems to be an issue with FCP 10.8 for some users! Previous versions have worked for some, so I’m glad you got that figured out! I’m hoping FCP 10.8.1 can resolve the frustrating on screen controls. Unfortunately I have to rely on Apple to get that fixed, as I’m not a programming developer. You can pan with the zoom tool! I just found it easier to have a smaller control for panning. But if you prefer using the zoom tool, it works just as well!
@@TheFinalCutBro Thanks! I guess it's more technical, maybe I don't have the best understanding of the difference between Pan and Zoom. When I use your (amazing) Zoom tool, doesn't the tool automatically "pan" to get to that zoom point?
@@vdweck1 yes it does! The only major downside is that the zoom is set by default to actually zoom. So you would need to offset that zoom level every time you want to pan. But that’s not a huge issue.
Unfortunately not yet. Still waiting on Apple to make 3rd party plugins usable on iPad! When they eventually do, I’ll definitely do my best to port this over.

Anyone else in 2.0 unable to move the A and B position controls in Pro Focus title? Also can't move the B position in Multi-Pan title. 🤔 M1 Max Mac Studio and FCP 10.8
10.8 is posing lots of issues for people with On Screen Controls for all sorts of plugins, so I think you’re likely running into that. Several people have said not using the trackpad resolved the issue for them. Also not using external displays as well. Unfortunately it’s an FCP specific issue, and we need to wait for an update from Apple to address it :/
@@TheFinalCutBro Oh boy, Apple🙄! I saw a video about those odd Trackpad issues. I managed to dodge it (I'm on the old, battery Trackpad) until now. No issues before this. I also use two monitors though and that does give me USB issues. I'll bring out the old Magic Mouse and see if it helps. Thanks.

Woah you're right! Thanks for the heads up. I just did a deep dive, and it looks like the app I am using to create the installer is having a hard time with the Pro Burns plugin. I am working on getting that addressed and will have a fix out shortly!

Yes! Even if you did previously use the Social versions, you would still take those same steps. It's more so just saying don't go in and delete the old social tools, otherwise that might break them. But this plugin will automatically install everything for you, and it will leave the social tools completely alone!

Hey there! Just purchased pro zooms 2.0 and this is a gamechanger! Just need to ask you what am I doing wrong, because the pro zoom effect's build out animation don't work. Maybe I'm missing something
That’s due to how FCP works with Motion Templates. Unfortunately, for me to enable the animation speed slider up to 2 seconds, that means the title needs to be at least 4 seconds long, so it can have a build in and build out animation. But that said, it’s super easy to get around! Just cut the title in half, and then select build in on the first half, and build out on the second half.
I’m limited by whatever Apple enables in the software, since I build it all just using Motion. I’m not actually programming anything. And that’s a direct limitation with Motion templates.

I have FCP 10.8 and Pro Zooms 2.0 and have a problem scaling the Pro Zoom using the handles like you show in this video and the tutorial.
I also tried Multi Pan and position B is somehow locked to x=0.19 and y=-0.05. I can neither move the on screen control nor change the values using the Inspector.
As I don't know which button to check/uncheck in Motion, I haven't figured out a solution yet.
Am I using it correctly?
I can share a screen recording if needed.
EDIT: I downloaded 1.4 and I could scale the box in the Zoom text effect and move point B in the PAN text effect.
Yes there seems to be an issue with FCP 10.8 for some users! Previous versions have worked for some, so I’m glad you got that figured out! I’m hoping FCP 10.8.1 can resolve the frustrating on screen controls. Unfortunately I have to rely on Apple to get that fixed, as I’m not a programming developer. I only use the tools given to me inside of Apple Motion.

Question, for regular panning in pro zoom, why would I use the pan instead of just using the zoom? The zoom will essentially pan, no?
You can pan with the zoom tool! I just found it easier to have a smaller control for panning. But if you prefer using the zoom tool, it works just as well!

@@vdweck1 yes it does! The only major downside is that the zoom is set by default to actually zoom. So you would need to offset that zoom level every time you want to pan. But that’s not a huge issue.

Unfortunately not yet. Still waiting on Apple to make 3rd party plugins usable on iPad! When they eventually do, I’ll definitely do my best to port this over.

Anyone else in 2.0 unable to move the A and B position controls in Pro Focus title? Also can't move the B position in Multi-Pan title. 🤔 M1 Max Mac Studio and FCP 10.8
10.8 is posing lots of issues for people with On Screen Controls for all sorts of plugins, so I think you’re likely running into that. Several people have said not using the trackpad resolved the issue for them. Also not using external displays as well. Unfortunately it’s an FCP specific issue, and we need to wait for an update from Apple to address it :/

I saw a video about those odd Trackpad issues. I managed to dodge it (I'm on the old, battery Trackpad) until now. No issues before this. I also use two monitors though and that does give me USB issues. I'll bring out the old Magic Mouse and see if it helps. Thanks.
