Warning: do not use a GameCube on 1080p mode with this thing as it will alter the colors. If you are using it for a GameCube, you have to switch it to 720p mode
Great tip!
TerminaVelocity is just on this or by every HDMI Adapter
Trevor Fanck I believe just this one, but I haven’t tested it with a lot of others. Best to just go with an eon adapter with GCN.
TerminaVelocity ok thanks!
Does it works great in the gamecube? I have the default cables and i cant read any text....
this guy looks like a young verision of Steve Buscemi :)
Ooh not this again, haha
That was literally my first thought after clicking on this video
@Andrew Kim lmao
@Andrew Kim I think that is the best compliment I can get in this topic xD
Tested my old xbox and theres no noticeable lag but there is an annoying horizontal pinkish line on the upper part of tbe screen and since Im using composite to hdmi in 720p, the graphics are grainy and blurry which is expected on modern tvs. The only way to get better signal is if the console is compatible with component or hdmi. The AV2HDMI will do fine if you dont expect better resolution.
Or s-video to a lesser extent.
actually the no signal isn't from the elgato, it's from the converter itself!
Yes the blue 'no signal' screen comes from the AV2HDMI. The no signal screen from the Elgato is grey.
Is the image clearer than simply using the AV cables directly on the TV? How is the upscaling?
Did you ever find the answer to this ?
@@Dannyfr33sh Yup. The image quality is better if your tv still has AV inputs. I did end up with a newer tv that doesn't have them though and it works fine. Your tv's upscaling still plays a role in the equation. Using it on my new tv looks better than on my old one. One thing I noticed though on my older tv is that sometimes, there will be some weird "flashing" lines on things that light up and try to emulate a scanline effect, like Star Wars holograms or Samus' scan visor in Metroid Prime for exemple. Although the image is blurrier, that weird thing never happened with the converter, giving a more genuine image.
Thanks for this video! Now I can play River City Ransom 2!
You're welcome
Like the intro/outro you made btw ;-)
I got the same cheap one. It does the trick.
Does it work for ps1?
I got one of these and it just flickered constantly. From reviews it works or it doesn't...
Was it on NTSC Or PAL? If you live in the US, Switch it to NTSC, If you live in Europe, switch it to PAL, if you live anywhere else, look up if your country uses NTSC or PAL
@@mrsquidward3569 PAL, the device was sold as "PAL" aswell
Some devices put out signals that are different to standard NTSC or PAL signals. Older CRT TVs handled this without a problem, but some digital devices struggle with them.
Help!!! I’m using a Sgyer 5 in 1 HDMI switcher. All 5 ports in the switcher are hooked up to game systems. Three of them are using a mini AV converter. The problem is my Sgyer is only toggling between two AV systems (using a mini converter), and the other three aren’t even registering. Is this an issue caused by mini converters??
just got mine today. effin work for my ps1 :) just had to fiddle with it a bit.
How is it holding up?
@@bustergundo516 stored the ps1 about 2 mos back since i got bored of the games. but had no issues with the converter.
not sure how much ull get it in the u.s. but i got mine for 100php = 2$

I bought one for my tv for my snes I get the picture but no sound any advice that could help?
Would there be any noticeable input lag if I just want to plug and play onto my modern hd tv? was planning on using this on my gamecube
Nope, and if there is most new TV's have an option to fix it in the settings
Nope works fine in my 4k tv
I just hooked this up. No sound. wat do, how fix?
check if there's something wrong with the red/white output of your console.
I have the mini hdmi and for every 30 mins to hours it shuts down not sure why?
Maybe because of a small power surge or a sleep-mode that you activated in the console/device that you're capturing/converting from?
@@Dosgamert Sleep mode and its a av2hdmi mini?
@@cyrex6519 what are you connecting it to?
@@Dosgamert samsung i did went to see the options for sleep time it says its off maybe i have to reset that as well?
Nice... what do you use to capture / upscale msdos games ?
I use DosBox internal capture ([AVI]- ZMBV codecs), then upscale/resize to higher resolution using Virtual Dub with H264 codecs!
Dosgamert thought I saw a capture of a pc booting in your intro... that wasn’t dosbox I think :)
@@RetroSpector78 pure After Effects haha
This converter. does not work. All I get is audio, but no video, only a
blue screen. Tried cables sold as a unit from the same manufacturer.
Tried switching the yellow with the red cable. All to no avail.
I made a new video of a device of a bit higher quality. Maybe that's better?
Why couldn’t he use a full screen to show us the quality..
Check my newer video, link in description.
I can't get mine which I bought off ebay to work on a ps1
just got mine today. it work. just unplug plug na power cable and restsrted na tv
I have brought a black av2hdmi and all the other consoles work well but the only problem is my nintendo 64 it flashes only on 007 game also its extremely bright when I play the game. Is there a way to fix that problem?
The brightness could be an issue with the AV cable, if it's an unofficial one. Many cables missed a resistor inside which could cause excessive brightness/washed out image.
@@DoubleMonoLR n64 composite cables don't have any resistors inside
It didn't work on my hdmi splitter to my tv and cheap capture card to my pc using obs to record. But did not work regardless what I do. Anyone have same problem?
try to mess around with the settings of the capture device/source in OBS.
Can I plug the USB cable to my smart Tv, will it power the device?
Some will, some won't. Not sure if it requires 5V or 12V. And not all USB-ports on TV's remain powered when not used as input.
@@Dosgamert 5V, which is the traditional standard for USB, it won't use 12V(which is quite likely to damage the device). Albeit modern USB PD chargers(which can support 12V) automatically set the voltage, and will drop back to 5V for 'dumb' devices like this that don't have a chip to negotiate a voltage.
it doesn't work for my ps1
Idk why but for mine I get a small screen on my ps2 like even if I go on display settings it’ll only change sizes in that box
I got the same converter no problem regards for display but theres no audio or sound for it
Numb.....I wanted to plug in my ole but goodie ALTECH LANSING speakers with the RCA Audio , to my cable box using HDMI , stumped. ...no sound HDMI /CABLE BOX/MINI converter/ OUT TO RCA plugs CONNECTING TO MY ALTECH speakers ....nada nada ...?

@@Dosgamert yea it was turned on

@@crankqsa1112 does it work with another av device? If yes, try on a different screen to change the output of the Wii in it's settings.
i keep using a nes snes combo and i get no signal
so you're able to plug it straight into your pc and play?
I did it on my monitor and it worked... but old monitors are vga only... for windows you might need an hdmi to usb adapter and some programs to output video and record it if you want. I use obs for that
Is the Elgato necessary ? I plugged the HDMI direct from the box into my laptop. Next question is ....what software do i need ? I use NCH VideoPad but it gets no signal from the HDMI somehow. Any comments / Advice on that ?
That hdmi is probably an out only
@@Dosgamert I mean I have that Mini AV2HDMI also and from the output goes the HMDI cable direct into my laptop. But no software captures this..I am using a VCR as source to set VHS into digital format.
@@Ollever312 yes but you need a capture device for it, the HDMI port on your laptop is probably an OUT and not an IN.
@@Ollever312 You can buy very cheap USB HDMI capture devices that work fine.
Do this work good for modern tv? I wanna hook an original xbox to my 4k tv but it only have hdmi port to it
Yep
@@Dosgamert how about GameCube on a modern Tv?
@@peytonlong5573 sure!

Hey there and welcome to an L...
oh wait ...
Dosgamert thingy!
Thinking about getting myself one, also I like your decal stickers, where did you get those?
Those are no stickers, they're plywood, lasercutted and handpainted by Maxi. You can order one if you like. Btw, I just made a new video on a simular device!

Hello where do you plug the usb cable? Only in pc you can not use it on a adaptor on phones etc for power? Or this is just for pc us only?
It's just for power
@@Dosgamert thanks. Tried using a powerbank anyway do you think whats the watts if possible to ise android charger?
@@zzr400cc not sure if a phone/tablet charger will work since that might transfer more power and there's no adapter in between. I'd stick to a 12v usb port. You can try though, but not sure if it will keep the device intact. Maybe read the manual about the max. Power supply
I bought one from eBay and I get no signal.
Is there a different device with less delay?
There's no delay in the AV2HDMI. The delay comes from the Elgato HD60. There are other HDMI capture devices that don't have delay like some internal PCI-E cards from Avermedia, though their products aren't that good and support is extremely limited.

How do you fix that? It's been turning off 5mins in?
i bought this thing but mario kart double dash on the gamecube plays slower... like it's playing at 90% speed. Anyone had this problem as well?
This device won't slow the performance of the imput device (your Gamecube)
@@Dosgamert thanks for your fast reply. I have the exact same device you have, but mine DOES slow it down, very strange. I played MarioKart double dash and the timer on my phone outruns the timer ingame.
I might have a defect one I guess :(
That's weird! Check out my channel I just made another video of a same kind of device a few weeks ago, maybe that works better for you! Look for SNES to HDMI
@@KnownStrangerr That's all but impossible, the converter can't buffer an infinite amount of video(which it would need to, to slow down a video) It's theoretically possible it somehow confused the console into running at a slower rate, but I can't see any way that would work.
does it look nice on wii please anyone answer
Not nicer, just as it should look.
With this converter the games that run at 60Hz on consoles such as dreamcast for example, are seen in black and white. A shame
60hz is normal for NTSC video, so there's some other issue causing that.
Question if I use it with ps2 do I get better quality then the ps2 component cables
No. I don't think so.
It can't make the output better than the input video. Component video is significantly better than the common yellow plug connection (composite video).
You can buy Component to HDMI converters anyway, for better quality.
Don't really think you should be doing exclusive content when you're small growing channel just put yourself out there full on
Thanks for your tip.
Steve Buscemi😜
Does it have input lag?
Nope, only the Elgat HD60 does, which make me record the signal
Does this work for PS4?
Works for every device with a AV output. Don't think this device will turn or convert the signal magically to HD.
2:10 im done watching... 🥺
Since i keep watching.. 😉 the belgium version of tintin? you do realize that tintin is from belgium right 😅 hit that 720 switch if im correct that switch is 16/9 (1080) and 4/3 (720) the chinese just name it strangely. Nice outro! Oh en dont say sorry to marty, marty blows his cartridges to 🤫🤭
