I don’t plan on coming off of Mounjaro. I plan to be on a maintenance dose once I reach an optimal A1C and weight. Diabetes and obesity are chronic conditions similarly to high blood pressure or cholesterol. We don’t take people off of those medications once they see normal levels; we credit the medication for keeping those levels under control. Mounjaro should be viewed the same way.

I have been on Montero since April 1st, they started on the two-point dos and then went up to the Five Point for the second and third month. I started to help my blood sugar's go down and to lose weight. It's doing a great job with a blood sugars that I am not losing much weight and since going up to the 5.0 I feel sick all the time! Any helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I did Mounjaro from last September to the end of January. Moving up a dose each month. I hadn’t had any of my other medications adjusted after losing 60 pounds. Didn’t think or know they needed to be. By the time I got to my last 15 mg dose a few days later in the early evening my heart started palpitating (I do get PVC’s) where my 3-4 beat is abnormal sometimes. I do take medication for high blood pressure . It was very noticeable and I started to panic and felt like I was going pass out. I called 911 and they came. I was on the verge of fainting when they got there, and my blood pressure was really high and then within seconds it dropped really low. I thought I was going to die. It was terrifying. When I got to the hospital, they did all the tests on me and my heart was fine, but my potassium level was low so they gave me potassium. We still don’t know what caused that episode if it was the mounjaro or not or just a low potassium. After that episode, I had stopped mounjaro completely. for the following couple weeks. I did not do well still having palpitations and bad panic attacks. My doctor had immediately adjusted my other medication‘s that I have taken for years. Around that time you couldn’t get Monjaro at your Pharmacy because the manufacture was so backed up with orders. I waited about six weeks and found out that you could get Mounjaro again so I started all over on 2.5. I had no nausea this time or any symptoms but after the first shot in the first three days in the evening, it’s always in the evening I started feeling panicky a mild form of when I had my bad attack in January and had to call an ambulance, so I stopped taking it again Since then in the last week I’ve started on potassium just in case that was the culprit. Since stopping the 15 mg I’ve gained back 25 pounds has anybody had this reaction? Or anything similar? I’ve tried looking at reviews but haven’t really found much. I went on Drugs.com to see if there was any interactions with the medicines that I take.I didn’t have any reactions to any of them, but a few of them had reactions to each other. They were both in a depressants in the same family. One of them I was able to wean off of and I’m feeling fine I got another box of the 2.5 this last week it’s sitting in my refrigerator. I’m hesitant to start it again but I want to because this weekend is very upsetting. I didn’t say but, I was a type two diabetic when I started this last September when I got tested in February I wasn’t anymore. So technically I didn’t need the medicine except to just maintain on it like most people do right now. My insurance does pay for it so it’s like liquid gold. Any thoughts are welcome. Thank you for your videos. I appreciate them very much. If any of this text doesn’t make sense. It’s because I’m talk texting. Thanks again.

My suggestions: talk to your prescribing physician to prevent further episodes. This drug is so new that enough data isn’t available as to what adverse reactions could occur. Any social media isn’t appropriate place to get your information. Please go and talk to your doctor. Maybe ask for blood test for weekly for the next few months to monitor your potassium level as you start back up on Mounjaro injection. Potassium is one of the important electrolytes in your system for your heart. It has to be in the certain level - too much too less both equally bad for your ❤. Your doctor should make the call to supplement potassium and it’s dose. Or could talk to a cardiologist. Sounds like your heart had some irregular rhythm issue that caused your palpitation feeling and panic attack. You need to follow up with appropriate doctor on that not just ER doc. As your weight drops your other medications needs to be adjusted. Like blood pressure medicine. Start logging in your blood pressure every day before your doctor’s appointment so that your physician can see your trends of BP and know how to adjust your medication.
Good luck to you!!! Hope your weight loss journey goes continues and be successful 🙏

Well, people regain weight when they go off a diet, so that's not in itself unique to Mounjaro. I agree that the cost of these drugs is outrageous. This may be one of those areas where the government can actually do some good: giving people a voucher, or maybe working with the companies involved to help lower the costs. Here we have a drug that actually works for most people and would save the government a lot of money in the future.

I've been on Mounjaro, the lowest dose, for 11 months, now. I did have to stop for a few weeks about 6 months ago because my insurance suddenly stopped covering it because I am not a Type II diabetic. They refused to cover a higher dose. Suddenly, I received a letter from the ins co saying they will cover the lowest dose for a period of one year, and will then reevaluate my coverage. I have lost about 35 lbs. but have not lost anything in six months. The medication is helping me hold steady at my current weight but I hope someday the ins co will allow me to advance to the next highest dose.

@@jdsim9173 I understand your position if you are having trouble obtaining it, but seems pretty plentiful to me nowadays. For your information, I was off it for a year because of my ins. Co no longer covering it. I am back on it now because my A1c ballooned and I have now been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. I have also had 3 hip surgeries (replacement, then a revision 13 years later). So iti is in my and the ins. co's best interest that I achieve a healthier weight. They didn't do any favors for themselves by denying the coverage over the past year.
