look forward to seeing how you get on, and how well you do selling the ones you do end up selling. I believe from watching other videos the theory of the baking them in the oven is to re-solder any dry joints on the pcb, not sure if it will fix the chips on the pcb themselves hence it being hit and miss as to if it works.
Watching your videos reminds of the days when I first got into PC gaming this was around the time of HL2. @RandomGamingHD. I have had much success using a heat gun and an infrared gun to monitor temps. And use the infrared gun to monitor temps making sure the whole board is even temp by slowly going across the whole board do this between 5 to 10 minutes you should see solder look a little liquid if you do not after 5 to 10 minutes increase them by 10 deg until u start seeing it shiny that means its hit the correct melting point which boards from 90's to nowadays can be different. Use alot of flux and use a soldering iron and some extra solder, the flux will make the solder adhere to the other existing solder basically making a better connection. You can never have to much flux :) If u have 2 of the same cards and they both artifact you could use the soldering gun and just move the memory chips back and forth because usually, artifacting is due to memory.... Under my main PC resting place (still a beast 2 years later) rests a magical setup that includes a Core2Duo E8500 resting inside the 775 socket of an EVGA nForce 750i SLI and my beloved GTX 260 with a whopping 2 GB of that famous purple label DDR2 ram at an astonishing 800 mhz. This particular setup still holds a Sound Blaster audio card from the times before, slotted in a PCI slot. This setup holds so much sentimental value and is dripping of classic PC so hard I can't possibly bear to do away with it. How many of us remember being able to barely run Crysis with the hacked DX10 setting not that long after the game released? The nostalgia alone is worth a whole lot more than money could ever account for.
@RandonGamingHD, I been a subscriber for 2 years now and I never see you do this, so here is some tip for you. when you clean those cards, do not just air them off. Unmount the plastic and fan connector, remove fan, on the back of it you will find a sticker, with finess, peel 3/4 of the sticker to reveal the (optional) rubber ring, put rubber ring out, pour 2 drops of fine mechanical oil like the one ur grandma has in her sewing machine (do not use WD40), spin fan by hand, 2 more drops, wiggle the fan and spin some more. Put sticker back on, asamble all back. Then you will see how silent everything becomes. ;) try it next time one QuadroFX 4600 with my method one with yours. Cheers!
Around 3:55 you say something about the metallic fan, and I immediately think about my old Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro, with its copper fan. Sadly, when I looked for it and found it, I found out it's just a plastic fan with copper-coloured paint... I absolutely love the aesthetic though!
Oh man I have a 8800 GTX with the same cooler as your GTS, and it even works. My old workplace just had it sitting around and they allowed me to take it. At the moment it's just the best ever shelf decoration. It's just too nice to have an iconic card like this
A couple of tips : - Spray some oil in-between the gaps of the fan, the lubrication might get rid of the noise. - Instead of the oven method try using a heatgun to reflow the GPU die first.
I've yet to encounter graphics card I could not fix with the oven method. Remove cooler, make some tinfoil supports so pcb won't touch oven plate, 200C 10min. Tried on 100% dead cards only, artifacts usually are memory problem.
I'd like to see tests of the FirePro V5800! That was the first graphics card I ever bought, and I slapped it into a Dell Optiplex 780 as my first ever "gaming rig"
The oven method isn't necessarily horrible. Depends on what you're using it for. If you get the oven hot enough to reflow all of the solder joints, in the event you had a bad joint it would fix your card. It doesn't happen too often in new components but I don't know how many old TVs, Monitors, and old 386s and 486s I've seen with cracked joints. It's one of the easiest ways to try and repair a cracked bga solder ball.
Rather than using an oven, how about a heat gun. And you can shield the rest of the components with the use of a cut up fizzy drinks can. This will help direct the heat to the points of bad solder joints. The problem with an oven is the heat goes to everything like the capacitors, ect. Its just an idea I had so don't just take my word for it. I just wondered if this would help you 😊.
Instead of replacing the fan no matter how bad or noisy it is, take it apart, clean it and put a few drops of low viscosity house oil. As long as the pcb(if it has one) isn't fried it'll restore it as good as new. :)

An interesting bunch, hopeful for the next video where you will likely test their performances and such.
i would LOVE to see that 5970 working bro good luck!!

Haha that's an amazing tagline 😂
Instead of replacing the fan no matter how bad or noisy it is, take it apart, clean it and put a few drops of low viscosity house oil. As long as the pcb(if it has one) isn't fried it'll restore it as good as new. :)
