Learning electronics is nice, but I think UA-cam channels like ours have an even more important mission. Nowadays people should learn again that these things are repairable.

I learned first how to disassemble and reassemble laptops by going on eBay and buying several junk laptops that didn't work, dirt cheap and so what if you break it. In a few weeks you will understand how they are built. That was around 2012 or so and by watching these videos I have learned even more.
I ran a nice little computer sales and repair business from my camper first, then a shed that I bought from the landlord in the campground, paid my bills for 4 years. If I can do it,so can you.

These lenovo ideapad laptops have very weak hinges, i bought one for very cheap (almost free) because it had a broken hard drive and right hinge, i found a clever way to repair the hinge, its good as new, i drilled 2 holes where the posts are on which the hinge sits, i made a small metal plate with 2 holes, exactly where the 2 posts are, i took 2 long screws, not too long but long enough to accomodate the length of the hingeplate, and i screwed it down from the outside, i made sure the hinge sat flush like it was before, i putted some washers on the screw to make it level so the laptop could be assembled again, the only thing you see now on the bottom side is a black metal plate with 2 black screwheads, that's it, its almost not noticable. I am glad i found this system, if i get a lenovo like this in the future i know how to repair them and yes, its a long lasting repair, it is way stronger than before. the stress is now put on 2 metal plates and screws instead of the thin plastics.

Whilst I agree either you love electronics or not & I've been in business for over 40yrs (My father since 1946 He was the first TV tech in our area in 1956) & I'm not broke I've, done quite well out of my business, but I guess it depends on where your located & the quality of your repair standards & mine are very high, no dodgy repairs here 80-90% new parts used depending on what's available & required.
I also VERY strongly agree that people that DON'T HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH laptops/computers & phones DON'T start jamming high voltage/current into places on a motherboard when they DON'T have any idea what they're doing & what catastrophic damage they can cause due to lack of knowledge (JUST DON'T DO DO IT), I do however have a problem with your repair quality/dodginess level on many repairs & don't take me wrong but back in the 70/80's I have done this also to quickly fault find but learning & knowedge is the key to at a QUALITY ( I can sleep at night) repair!... YES, I HAVE HIGH STANDARDS & am not judging you!

Its nice to see you back in action Sorin, and I totally agree with you, to learn electronics, one should experience being electricuted, one should suddenly start to smell something burning, like rubber of a test probe 😂, or a burning component. Sorin, the magician says there's no magic, but he turns ordinary wire into calibrated fuses, melts hot glue on engineered hinges and removes but does not replace exploded capacitors, and dead things work again. No school teaches this magic, it comes from understanding what that fuse or capacitor is doing and how to safely (for 3 months) substitute the function. The magic of being dodgy.

Hi Sorin with all respect to you !! mention at 06:42 ,with a little bit more explain &a little bit more teaching the person who in level 10 or 20 can easily become level 50 or 60 !!let me give you an example: you are explain about shorting on mosfet and you want to jump the mosfet you are explain good but not enough why ??? because you didn't tell us on which pin we must make a short and connect them with the wire !!! if you explain pin 2 and 3 - and pin 6 and 7 must short in solder and connect them with wire ,we have jumper mosfet !! look with a little bit more explain all people can understand more and people in level 10 or 20 can reach to level 50 or 60 . !!! or another example , we have short to ground on the motherboard you explained we must check first mosfet or then second mosfet and then current resistor if we didn’t have voltage we can use power supply and inject the power on the mainboard but are didn’t explain on which component we must inject the power to find the short on the mainboard , if you explain a little more like this: for example we don’t have voltge on second mosfet so after second mosfet you have to inject power on current sensor on plus side to find the short !! that’s it . I mean with a little more explanation more people can understand and learn more from you . you are perfect and professional with a good heart ,and your explanation are very good just little bit more and little easier that’s it . thankyou to try to teach us a lots of things . take care about yourself
