      This encourages me soooo much. Thanks Ali for putting the bloopers in. Seeing how great your videos are, it's easy to forget that mistakes are a natural part of the process. You don't have to do the whole video in one clean take. Ok, I'll start and stay with making videos and growing my channel. Your content is great. Your humanity and good will are even better. Cheers my friend!

    Happiness and success are highly personal terms, and yet, so many people allow others to influence these concepts (I'll be happy after I'm successful enough to buy x).When really at the end of the day we should be taking the time spent trying to please others and putting it towards figuring out who we are and what we believe

    1. Understand the happiness equation
    > happiness + positive mindset → success
    > waiting to be happy limits our potential
    > meditation, smth to look forward to (the anticipation), being kind, exercise, signature character strength
    2. The fulcrum & the lever
    > BOTH our power/potential and our mindset are important
    > our mindset shapes the world around us
    3. The tetris effect
    > negative tetris effect: the tendency to finding negative patterns
    > positive tetris effect: looking for opportunities
    > it is possible to change it: write down 3 things you are greatful for daily
    4. Falling up. Turn your failures into learning opportunities
    5. The social support network. Our social support can prove the difference between succumbing to the cult of the average and achieving our fullest potential

    "Just writing down a list of things that you're grateful for each day has more of an effect on your personal happiness than doubling your salary at work"
    That's one of the best happiness pieces of advice. I've already gotten started on doing that before I saw this video but now it makes me even more encouraged to do it every day!

      you know most of that is just hard work? Sure you need decent genes to succeed, but then it's just reading tons of books all the time, and making those small decisions all the time like, I will have a decent sleep/eating pattern, exercise a bit, learn new things all the time and work on my career so it's not some horrible dead-end street. Most people who complain they can't keep up with Ali, I guess they just do none of the above but spend their whole life on Netflix, FB and such. Sometimes you just need to make yourself do stuff if you don't wanna be a couch potato whole life. And then things don't seem that horribly out of our reach/understanding anymore. But it's years of good habits

      L K well i guess it depends what you want to get out of your life. Some people want to be successful and productive, others want to do as many sports as possible while others prefer the party and Netflix life. And the only thing that matters is that you have chosen the reicht path for yourself. I‘ve spent 7 years travelling the world for example. I currently live in Australia even though I am from Germany. As a German I love to be productive. Many thoughts and things he shares I‘ve actually experienced and learned along the way. No, you don‘t need to read 1000000 books in your life, you actually need to get a life and live a life. So no, I don‘t think there is anything wrong with him wanting to be as productive as possible. He just sees the value and opportunities that come with an existence on earth.

    Constructive criticism Al: i found the stock footage you use to illustrate certain sentences jarring and playing to an imaginary idea of production value. For example the clip where you are talking about psychology tests and show a stock clip of a painfully staged, phoney and unrealistic science lab, it detracts rather than adds to the content - IMO! I am not adverse to looking at your face while you are talking, you are the face of your brand. I do not require visual aids. Keep up the amaze content tho

    • @DeepuAsok
      @DeepuAsok 4 роки тому +7

      I agree. I think we have this tendency to think that people do not want to see our talking face for too long. We have this narrative that we need to constantly amuse the audience with fast-changing visual images with variety and novelty. If that was the case Joe Rogan's show would not be existing in our world. Also, recommend the book "Amusing ourselves to death" by Neil Postman. It will change your philosophy of "good content". As a "content creator," it's a must-read for you. Keep up the great work!

    • @LucariosOnlyFan

      Deepu Asok i agree. i’m a big advocate of “show me or tell me, but not at the same time.” i also have never had someone write back to me on a comment before so i’m kinda fan-girling ...

    • @hanami741
      @hanami741 4 роки тому +5

      totally agree, i was saying the same thing a few videos back, those stock clips are horrible distractors because most of us recognize how phony they are in the first second since we've been fed with them for the last decade or so. It's seriously better to just watch a talking face, with a few self-made B-rolls. Seriously content is wayyy more important than some silly visuals.

    I'm in the 'bit extra' chapter of this video, and I want to share something.
    I recently started filming myself and I trying to record my own music, and I realised that rushing through takes is not a good idea. Like notice he's not taking a breath and continuing with that same flow and making mistakes again and again and again. If there's a mistake we should take a breath and then start a fresh, that way we can reduce the number of takes and thus the total time elapsed to shoot.
    It's just a personal thing I noticed, it's alright if you don't agree with me.

    the outtakes were brilliant to share. I have wondered how Ali manages to speak in his videos so smoothly...apparenlty he's just like us !

    The whole video is great, inspiring, helpfull and more. However, in the last part where you included the failed footage is very very inspiring. It shows all of us on how much work that you have put into this video. This really helps my lack of confident. Even you go through same problem. Thank you, sir.

    Isn't 'happiness' in itself a highly ambiguous notion though ? Tim Ferris in his 4HWW argued that 'Happiness' is vague and a better word would be 'excitement'.
