      Dirty School of Skate I am a beginner and find your videos extremely helpful, fun and inspiring.... in fact, I literally summon your voice giving words of encouragement while I practice hahah! Have you ever considered filming informal small space practice videos? I have been trying to spend 20-30 min a morning doing scissors and balancing etc.....it would be so great if you lead one to work along with you!

    I am a lifetime skater, a rink brat . My mom was the beginners class teacher here in Springfield Illinois and you have taken what she taught to a whole new level. Things I do because I do them, you have given me the words to help others get their skate on. I was also a bit of artistic skater but cost did not allow me to further my artistic journey when my instructor left. THANK YOU for your knowledge and love of the sport that will always be my first and forever love.

    One your lesson one you stated put your weight over the front of your skate. If you got your knee's bent and your chest over your leading foot all I can do is apply the weight over the whole skate. Because I have high arches not flat feet I have a hard time rocking from the inside edge to the outside. I only wished I came from a skating family and started skating before I could walk but that was not in the cards. I am old but not that old to skate. I have seen older people in their 80's skate and turn and spin. That really suck's that I can't really skate forward without no form or control. I'll work on it in my hallway inside for now.

    • @Dirtydeborahharry
      @Dirtydeborahharry  3 роки тому

      You can do this, even with high arches. You may want to make sure that you are skating on a boot that has a figure skating heel. It will help put your foot in the right place naturally.

      If you don't want to turn you can tighten the trucks on your skates so your wheels don't move together as easily. The other way to not turn is to be more cognizant of your body-weight tilting.

I tried this back in the 70's. I gave up . My timing was all wrong. I worked on my career and life and now retired for the last 40 years. Now I am starting all over in skating but like then I could never go heal to heal. Any video's on beginning rex moves. Ok so I know I'm super late... lol I spome to you about the lower priced skates... I got the $60 skate as a starter... I found that the boot, plate and the trucks are actually a good quality... The wheels are horrible and the bearings suck... I watched your wheels a d parts video..IT WAS SUPER HELPFUL!! I looked at the specs on the skate and the bearings were ABEC 5, and the 83A but they have no grip, don't handle anything well... I felt like a cat on roller skates... I ordered the Sure Grip Motion 78A wheels you described in the video.. I will let you know how it turns out 😊

      @@melaniehaynes8619 You can get balance easily; dash side-to-side in grass. Move on to left-over-right in grass, then left-over-right on concrete.

    Hello. I know this was posted a long time ago, but I'm a new skater but kinda up in years. What suggestions do you have for beginner skaters but have bad knees? 😬

    It's my second day skating. I do in front of my house in the street. It's too slow. I feel insecure and thinking i will fall. How can i improve? I heard some people do better in the first day. I see you like flying so smooth, i feel like im an idiot....

    I do not know now to ask a question about skating in the now. I have been watching and watching your Q &A time after time. I know this question is not public comment but here it goes. In rolling backward in beginning skating how do I travel backwards on one foot. I skate only 4 hours at a rink that caters to the older skaters two mornings a week and I practice there but I an not getting anywhere fast. I just practice going backwards in my hallway but that is only 8 ft. long. Whats the deal of balancing backwards on one foot. At this time I can not do edges.
