Thanks mate Merry Christmas to you too. Used the knife a fair bit last night and it needs a secondary bevel as the edge rolled pretty bad when cutting out paper and laminated stuff on a cutting mat. But i am proud of it.
Very cool knife, I it a lot, and I find that it performs quite well on leather I'm stunned that it took you that much time to go from 600 to 2000, the entire process of handsanding takes me a lot'less time to go'up to 5000 grit
Thanks. Yeah the flats didn't take too long. It was more getting the curved edges sanded and the curve under the blade shaped. I think i mispoke because it was about 2 hours including the shaping. I couldn't do it all before heat treat as i was in a huge rush. So i had to do it after which takes longer. Also i can only seem to get up to 2000 grit locally. One day i will order some finer stuff. But i am really fond of a satin finish over a mirror finish. Merry Christmas too.
@@scottshobbyz5416 maybe I just misunderstood, I also prefer satin finish but sometimes a mirror finish is very satisfying Also be sure to use sandpaper intended to be used on steel, it gets the job done a lot quicker Maybe onenday I'll make a video on how I handsand my knives, maybe it could be interesting Merry Christmas Scott !
No you didn't misunderstand i remembered after i had finished the video. I am gonna make a cooler kiridadhi later but will use my sanders so it will be faster. I would love to see a video of how you do the handsanding. I have never been big on mirror finishes but most i have seen aren't done properly. People leave some deep scratches in there and they don't buff out. So you have shiny scratches everywhere.
@@scottshobbyz5416 The issue is that my laptop is currently broken, so I can't upload videos.. Well it's not an'easy finish to acheive, but it's just a matter of patience
Yeah a proper mirror finish with no scratches left in any spot no mater which angle or lighting you use is a rare sight. I haven't even bothered to attempt it. Most peoples mirror finishes aren't like i described. Not to mention if you like to use your knives they might get scratched. Is your computer easy to fix or expensive to fix. Or completely dead? Mine still works but it keeps playing up and is probably on its last legs. So I am gonna try save for a new and better one.
This was awesome, I loved watching!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed :)
