Wouldn't have ever happened, not even in a 'what if' scenario considering Tennant wasn't even a thought in RTDs mind when Rose actually first filmed
You know if the series had opened with this, and with how 9 acts later (not sure about the ears), you'd think that 10 was actually the doctor that came *before* 9 regenerated and he just did so off screen. That'd make the return of 10 more of a cool twist in the long run.

@@beesree39 explain bud , if this had happened nuwho would be stuck in a loop with just 2 doctors 10 regenerating into 9 then 9 into 10 then 10 back into 9 and 9 into 10 nd tht would just repeat, we wouldn't get the war, 11th, 12th and 13th doctors
No doctor can be if they only regenerate into each other so classic who would be screwed aswell

@@thetimelordfat-torious2269 the original comment is saying that if this was the original opening, it would be initially interpreted by viewers that Tennant is the 9th doctor who regenerates off screen into the 10th doctor played by Eccleston. However as the series progresses and Eccleston regenerates it'll be revealed that it's actually a plot twist and Eccleston preceeded Tennant, coming full circle with 10's regeneration into 11.
It always annoys me how the doctor says "Really great year" It should of been fantastic... a really fantastic year.

@@virtualashez no he didnt, that was a grunt of pain because he was getting to the point where he couldnt hold back the regeneration anymore. Her seeing him was a potential paradox.

This is actually done in the 'Rose' novelisation.

@@momentofma9932 Yeah, that was an advantage that Russell T. Davies had of writing the novel years after the story had been broadcast.
Similairly, the scene at Clive's includes references to the ALL The Doctors, including 'a blonde woman running away from a frog'.

@@momentofma9932 The novelisations are a great way to expand the stories. Day of the Doctor, for example has Jodie in the final chapter, again an advantage of writing a story years after the televised story came out.
@@timrob12 the day of the Doctor novelisation also had Moffat write the tenth Doctor as really quite violent and completely out of character. Not a very good adaption that one. Riddled with silly Moffat things

To be fair, this sort of almost happened - if David Tennant had stayed for Series 5, the plan was for young Amelia to meet him just before he regenerates, then when she meets him as an adult he has no idea who she is, because it hasn't happened yet for him. Similar idea, I think.

Well done. There’s also a flashback sequence of Rose riding a double decker bus, from Army of Ghosts / Doomsday that takes place before she met the Doctor as well that could be included in this edit.

I’ll show this to my mum who is going to watch Doctor Who for the first time (forgive us for not starting with the Classics). This is a great way to introduce Doctor Who!

Yes, I agree, I think after seeing this clip we’ll start with Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor. He did so amazingly starting the show again after the break, and is hugely underrated

Still can’t believe the revival started the year I was born haha, I genuinely forget that fact a lot and whenever someone brings it up I always find it awesome!
This would’ve been awesome if they remade this episode someday and intergraded this into the episode. Like, imagine if Rose was walking home from her first encounter with the Doctor and then she saw ten in the shadows and they had a conversation like this and then the episode continued like nothing happened afterwards.

Thing is they couldn’t have done this bc they didn’t know if the reboot would fail or not. If it did fail they wouldn’t have made him regenerate into David tennant at the end and so this bit would just be weird and creepy. Wish it could’ve happened anyway...
That was amazing, loved that, wished it happened. But i guess, of course, there was the fear that the show wouldn't do well in 2005 so they could never have done scenes as impressive as this. If it did happen though, it would have been absolutely fantastic.

Every time I see this I always wish he told her to have a fantastic year, not just a great year.
One thing to know is that the 10th Doctor did not show his complete face because if he did then Rose would recognise that face when the 9th Doctor regenerates to the 10th causing a fabrication in the space time continuum.

This was really cool! It would’ve been interesting if this happened, I’ve always wanted something like it (we kind of got it with the season 6 opening). My only change would be that instead of “Seeking the Doctor,” because it feels a bit intrusive on the dialogue, I’d recommend “The Doctors Theme.” Either version would work but I think the opening bits to the series 4 version would fit since it’s more so Tennants theme, but again either would work.
I just love the 2005 music at the beginning! Or the end of this!

Donna and Martha didn't have episode name after them
Smith and Jones would have been named after Martha as she was Martha Jones however i don't recall an episode being named after Donna as we first saw her in the runaway bride

Aghhhh!! You missed something, in The Christmas Invasion after the Doctor passes out after he says "Merry Christmas" and Rose looks at him on the ground, it sort of gives off a vibe that he looks familiar

I doubt it. She only saw him for around a minute or so at the beginning of the year. I doubt she would have remembered that tiny interaction, especially since the doctor regenerated to the 10th around a year later.
It's not easy to remember one minute conversations with strangers.

I mean it makes some sense, if we had Tennant playing the 9th Doctor, because it would be weird to have the 10th Doctor appear for one scene, then have him return at the end of the season, if it were to fit in better, I imagine it would've been Tennant's name in the intro, and when Rose meets The Doctor proper, she recognises him, but The Doctor doesn't(having recently regenerated from War and all that)

Where is the music from by the way. I know it was reused for stolen earth but I can literally see on the edge of my brain the scene where it was first used. I’m seeing Martha for some reason in smith and jones but it really gives off a series 1 or 2 vibe

The track from the beginning is called “Seeking the Doctor” and the one from the beginning of Rose is “Westminster Bridge.”
So did rose meet the tenth doctor before the ninth so rose and doctor were destined to meet

10th doctor is dying here, he was visiting almost all of his companions to say goodbye before regenerating. He accidentally arrived to see rose before she'd met him.

The rose scene in end of time made absolutely no sense what so ever. She didnt know the doctor so how come when he regenerated into tennant she didnt question that she saw that face before?
That actually did happen, just not in the first episode.
The camera quality difference is very jarring maybe a colour correction could be done with an addition of bloom. To make them match up a bit

@@mahkimahkila6396 no I haven’t seen what they’ve done. However I doubt it could make the difference as: the program was recorded in 480p with a tiny sensor. You can’t create resolution that doesn’t exist and the small sensor would mean the image is still limited and could never look interchangeable. Due to the vastly different characteristics from the full frame sensor that was used to record the specials onward

I mean the only thing I could find about the image quality of Doctor Who and HBO Max is someone complaining that looks way too low-res on hbo
my point still stands but there’s no way The season one cameras can look good enough to match the late season four cameras.
Now I am in the UK so HBO Max is *not* available at all. however if they did some remastering to it surely someone would’ve said something about it?? Even a simple AI upscale is no trivial task (huge pc) and would be worth bragging about
I also had a look at some fan remasters and they do suffer from the inherent problems by the physical cameras they were recorded on. There is more detail it looks sharper, The bloom however is not gone, deep depth of field is still there, and the incredibly limited dynamic range is evident even still the highlights are still slightly blown out and the shadows are still slightly overly crushed.
This in comparison to how late season four looks: which is absolutely immaculate! razor sharp colours beautifully done, highlights and shadows masterfully preserved and depth of field pleasingly thin

When The 9th Doctor brings Rose back in Aliens of London, it's a year later... So 2006, but isn't The Christmas Invasion set December 2005? So Series 2 is 2006, Series 3 2007 etc. Shouldn't the meeting with Rose been 2004? However this should be the new opening of Series 1 on special edition set.
Nah everything in the RTD era is set one year ahead up until Waters of Mars I believe. So Christmas Invasion is 2006, Series 2 is 2007, Series 3 is 2008 etc
So that means Series 14 could Take Place Either in 2024 or 2025.
What happened
Basically in the end of time pt2 (2010) the 10th doctor went back in time to the 1st January 2005 to say his farewell to Rose (obviously she doesn't know who he is yet) before he regenerates into his 11th incarnation... If you recall she was pulled into the parallel universe (Pete's World) in Doomsday so he can't travel to see the present day Rose as he cannot travel between parallel worlds

He is not. He is in pain because of the heavy radiation he took into him in the end of time pt2 and his regeneration was starting to take effect

@@angelo7243 I get what he means. If someone hasn’t watched the show properly which it seems like this person hasn’t. Then the music in this clip is really awkward compared to the dialogue. It does genuinely play out as if he’s really gritted teeth pissed off at Rose in this scene. Whereas the original is much clearer in its intention and is reflected by the music
