A little game called Battlefield Heroes started the dual shotgun thing. They had classes from short, mid, to long range. Dual long range weapons were the equivalent to double pump.
1:35 not sure if it was on accident or not but the 2nd shot was actually genius, because back then doors only had a hitbox when they were stationary so if you closed a door during the animation you could actually shoot through it. first shot was a bit odd though probably just lag
