    How do you do a modified Whole 30? I’ve done several over the years and would like to do another, but always looking for a fresh take!

    • @traderjoesgeek
      @traderjoesgeek  8 місяців тому +2

      Wow that’s great that you have done it several times 👏🏻 I only did it once last year and it was very eye opening especially because I feel like I’m generally a clean eater. How often do you do it?
      I was thinking of modifying by allowing more whole unprocessed foods like beans 🫘 lentils, tofu and peanut butter 🥜 which aren’t technically allowed on whole 30. I’d still avoid dairy and grains though.

    • @christineh1546
      @christineh1546 8 місяців тому +2

      I’ve done 8, but my first was in 2017, so usually one a year, but once I did 2 in the year. I might do something similar. As long as I’m cutting sugar and alcohol I feel a lot better!

    My shopping sister! Happy New Year! Was at T Js yesterday (Oklahoma City) and they didn’t have all of the plants you’ve shown but they will. Can’t wait. Did load up on some bags of lettuce and fresh veggies. How do you fix the parsnips? May have to try. Love your review of the dried fruit. Forgot to look for the tortilla espanola but now I know where to look! Also got the pilaf and will try soon, but like you, I may be able to go almost 3 weeks from the freezer! I'm going to join you in the Whole 30 next month. I needs to makes some dietary changes. Is tofu or edamane allows? Different website give different answers. They do updated version occasionally. MSG is the latest acceptable ingredients in Whole 30 😬. Apple dessert looks delicious. Went to TJs Sunday.. bough a bag of the Sumo 🍊, meyer lemon for hot water drink, Step up snack(regular) our store still have plenty of both. Guilty purchase Ciabbata roll for splurge before next month 🫣. So good,first time buying, great for tuna sandwich.

      @traderjoesgeek  8 місяців тому +1

      Yay another friend to do whole 30 with❣️I think tofu, edamame and beans in general are allowed if you’re doing the plant based version but not allowed if you’re doing the original whole 30. MSG is allowed on whole 30 😱 that makes no sense!
      I’m debating whether to do whole 30 or a modified whole 30 where I allow chick peas 🫘 & tofu & a couple of other foods.
      The ciabatta rolls and ciabatta demi baguettes are delicious which is why I rarely buy them except for special treats 😋 Did you try the skipjack tuna that comes in the blue pouch?
      My store still had a good handful of the snack mixes also (both the regular & spicy).

      @traderjoesgeek it'll be fun going on this Whole 30 journey with my favorite TJ's influencer 💐. I remembered PreCovid, this lady at gym was so noticeably thinner. Mentioned to me she was in Whole 30, at that time I wasn't too keenly interested in dieting/details. Now older, different mindset. Whole30 seems doable better than Keto/ Low Carb etc. Easier to follow. I know that green bean, snow pea and snap pea are allowed on both of them. I might follow the regular Whole. So I could just include the seafood. I did purchase tuna in pouch for the first time. But I haven't opened it yet. Ate the Ciabatta with that TJ's olive oil butter. Omg ate half, then decided to eat the other half. No willpower 😜.

      @@eg1197 I hear ya❣️Bread is my weakness 🍞🤤 If someone asked if I’d rather have a nice steak 🥩 or warm crusty bread with butter, I’d choose the bread 🍞 That’s why I get the mini French baguettes 🥖 in the freezer section because it’s built in portion control. I can’t be trusted around bread that I have to cut slices 🤭
      The olive fougasse bread is also FANTASTIC warmed up ever so slightly in the oven for like 30 seconds or so and then with a little butter 🧈 or olive oil 😋

      So I take it mostly for my arthritis & it helped me with my joints but it took a LONG time of daily consumption for it to really show a difference for me (6 months +). I haven’t noticed that much of a difference in hair or nails but when I first took it, I noticed a slight difference in my skin. Also helps to get in more amino acids especially because I don’t eat a lot of meat so any protein intake for me helps ☺️

    • @traderjoesgeek

      @@TheTerakitty hmm not sure 🤔 I take a daily scoop (2 Tb) but one serving used to be 2 scoops (but it no longer comes with a scooper) and now is 4 Tb so it lasts me quite a while. I pretty much buy 2 containers only when I see it on sale which then lasts me until whenever the next sale is. My guess is one container lasts me a little over 2 months. They also have flavored ones (chocolate and lemon). Ive tried the chocolate one but it made my coffee taste like hot cocoa instead of giving it a mocha flavor so I didn’t repurchase that one but it was good…just a little too sweet for my coffee ☕️
