Love this meal! I have an old family secret not to use any water but instead use ginger ale, and the only brand to use is Canada Dry. It takes it to a heightened flavor of a bit of sweetness and a hint of ginger. We cook our veggies with it all in a crock pot on low for 7-8 hours. Speaking as an Irishman this is a new one on me I usually just do it stove top method & add a bottle of Irish beer to a 3 to 4 pound brisket. I do like this receipe & will make it this way next time thanks Mattie for the share

Mattie, you are a very wise and wonderful cook! I just made this according to your insructions and I must say this is the Best Way to cook Corned Beef, Cabbage, Potatoes, Carrots and Onions in order to have everything to turn out with the right degree of doneness and flavor! It is not the easiest way, because of the added dishes to wash and attentiveness that is needed to watch when each vegetable is done, but it is worth it without a doubt and the ONLY way that I will be cooking this meal in the future. Sooooo much more flavorful than throwing everything together in a crockpot and it turning to mush. I toasted some Irish Soda Bread to eat with it and my goodness, what a treat this was! WHEN YOU'RE USING THE SEASONING THAT COMES WITH THE CORNED BEEF (BLACK PEPPERCORNS, MUSTARD SEED, CORIANDER SEEDS, MACE, AND ALLSPICE), YOU SHOULD SLIT THE BEEF AND PLACE THE SEASONING.
Yes ma'am.. I always use the seasoning packet....i raise my meat up so that it will not only bake but steam....you need a steam rack to bake and steam @ 200. Ooh that juice is a nice gravy

I prefer my corned beef roasted in a low oven ,with a mix if dark ground nustard and brown sugar , foil sealed tight with a couple inches of water in the pan for 4 hours

It’s all up to you, how you cook! This is my way and your grandmother had hers. Doesn’t make it right or wrong. Cooking is a universal thing. That’s what makes it so wonderful. ❤️😊
The only thing I disagree with is the carrots. I never buy those funny looking carrots because they are not really baby carrots, they are regular carrots that have been shaped. I never find they have much flavor. I buy carrots when they look pretty, rinse them off and run a vegetable scraper across them lightly, then cut on the diagonal.

I prefer my corned beef roasted in a low oven ,with a mix if dark ground nustard and brown sugar , foil sealed tight with a couple inches of water in the pan for 4 hours

It’s all up to you, how you cook! This is my way and your grandmother had hers. Doesn’t make it right or wrong. Cooking is a universal thing. That’s what makes it so wonderful. ❤️😊
The only thing I disagree with is the carrots. I never buy those funny looking carrots because they are not really baby carrots, they are regular carrots that have been shaped. I never find they have much flavor. I buy carrots when they look pretty, rinse them off and run a vegetable scraper across them lightly, then cut on the diagonal.
If it turns out the carrots are not too sweet, then I add sugar or brown sugar sprinkled across them.
