I recently purchased the Joican tripod from Amazon for about $30, looking for a temporary solution to replace my old tripod. At its maximum height of 74 inches, it serves well for casual use, such as recording my kids at baseball games or school recitals. However, I find it to be fairly mediocre overall. The tripod can support a maximum weight of 15 pounds, but I wouldn't trust it with that weight fully extended. It feels somewhat clunky when adjusting any movable parts, which detracts from the overall experience.
The construction quality is decent; it doesn't feel overly cheap, yet it doesn't scream high-quality either. While it comes with some handy accessories, like a cell phone adapter and a sturdy carrying handle, the main issue is the wobbliness when fully extended. Even without any equipment, it feels unstable, which raises concerns about its reliability when supporting a camera. For someone needing a solid tripod for professional use, this likely won't cut it.
Ultimately, this tripod meets my current needs as a placeholder until I can invest in a more robust option. It’s functional for light, occasional use, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who frequently takes their gear outdoors or needs something durable. For my purposes, it gets the job done for now, but I anticipate replacing it in the next six months as I seek something of higher quality.
