    These are so cool! There are several for sale around here, I think that I might purchase one and see if it works! Maybe try to restore it... 🙌💯

    Great job on the torches. They're awesome. I have an old C&L blow torch that seems to hold pressure. Think on cleaning it and get it running. Nice torches, none the less. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Max Lin, two very nice small Lenk blowtorches, it is nice seeing these small lenks working as I have not seen one here lit before and I am quite impressed with the flame on the gasoline model

    The orficies are different sizes in the alcohol one vs the gasoline one .. Id know. The alcohol ones are used on farms for soldering. Several sizes of lenk torches exist w brass or steel tank. Btw. The alcohol ones run best w denatured alcohol

    Early blowlamps used liquid fuel, carried in a refillable reservoir attached to the lamp. Modern blowtorches are mostly gas fuelled. Their fuel reservoir is disposable or refillable by exchange. The term 'blowlamp' usually refers to liquid-fuelled torches, and is still used in the UK. Liquid-fuelled torches are pressurised by a piston hand pump, gas torches are self pressurised by the fuel's evaporation.

    @3141madmax  11 років тому

    This is common for butane or propane-fuelled gas torches, but it has also applied to older, large liquid paraffin (kerosene) torches such as the Wells light.Many torches now use a hose-supplied gas feed, often mains gas. They may also have a forced air supply, from either an air blower or an oxygen cylinder.

  • @3141madmax
    @3141madmax  11 років тому

    Fuel torches are used in a vast range of sizes and output power. The term blowtorch is applied to the smaller and lower temperature ranges of these. Blowtorches are typically a single hand-held unit, with their draught supplied by a natural draught of air. Larger torches may have a heavy fuel reservoir placed on the ground, connected by a hose.

    Both of these larger and more powerful designs are less commonly described as blowtorches, the term blowtorch usually being reserved for the smaller and less-powerful self-contained torches. The archaic term 'blowpipe' is sometimes still used in relation to oxy-acetylene welding torches. ^.^

  • @3141madmax
    @3141madmax  11 років тому

    For other meanings, including oxy-gas torches, see Blowtorch (disambiguation).
    An old-fashioned kerosene blowtorch / blowlamp
    A blowtorch, or blowlamp (UK usage, else rare or archaic), is a fuel-burning tool for applying flame and heat for various applications, usually metalworking.

    Is there a wick inside the alcohol storage base on your torch. Mine is in great condition and functions but doesn't hold much fuel so it won't burn for long. There is a blue/white wick in base not sure if thats normal

    no 1 is that normal motor vehicle gas that is used for it?
    No 2 what if my one is meant to run on some other fuel and I put gasoline into it .. cod it explode?

    From what i can tell, you light alcohol soaked asbestos in the little tray around the pipe that comes out of the fuel tank, because the heat gets transferred downward to the tank the heat vaporizes the alcohol/gasoline which pressurizes the tank and when you open the valve, the alcohol/gasoline vapor quickly escapes the tank outward the pipe and when you light it, the small holes on the nozzle feed oxygen to the flame which in turn increases the temperature of the flame.
    One question though, once you've pressurized the tank, is it required to keep the asbestos lit, or can the heat from the nozzle vaporize the fuel? i know it's a long way from the nozzle to the tank, but alcohol/gasoline doesn't require a high heat to turn into vapor.

    What creates the pressure in these small torches? (I see no pump.) is maybe hot enough to braze steel with bronze wire?

    • @RJSoftware2000
      @RJSoftware2000 10 років тому +1

      The pre-heating causes alcohol/gasoline to pressurize in the tank since heat is transmitted down from the valve to the tank. Alcohol and gas has low evaporation temperature so it expands easy.

      Max Lin You could have just used cotton, true? I just purchased one similar, mine is a Turner with the cup. Not sure if mine is correct as the valve rod has no needle. I think it should have a needle on end so that it could poke into the tiny hole that allows gas to escape. I pushed very small needle tip into hole to clear out old sludge and got some action, but it does not work right yet. Flame is weak and I think because the hole is still blocked up. Could you tell me if there is suppose to be a needle on the end of the screw in rod valve? It is the only thing that makes sense to me, else how would the valve work...?
