Wacka Doodle lol I’m with you it’s literally rapid spin. I still call it rapid spin knowing it’s not officially because that’s not what withdraw is. He should use withdraw for his shield.
Charizard didn't become a standalone in Smash 4 because he was the best out of the tree. Pokemon Trainer players basically just played Squirtle, and only switched when it got tired, before trying to go back to Squirtle. Or in a bad matchup, where they did use Charizard. Ivysaur was absolute trash in Brawl. Seriously, Squirtle was the best out of the three by far. Charizard was picked because it's fucking Charizard, one of the most popular Pokemon of all time. Pokemon Trainer was my main and I hope all three characters come back as their own playable characters. I honestly thought the design of Pokemon Trainer was genius.
I just need to point this things 1. In pokemon games it's common to teach pokemon tm/hm attacks, 2. You can use fly in battle, 3. Charizard side-air looks more like slash or scratch than dragon claw. 4. In his final smash he uses moves fly and fire blast. 5. His custom neutral special 1 is fire fang from pokemon games 6. Custom side specials 2 and 3 are blast burn (that works kinda like in pokemon games as it's more powerful attack) and dragon rush (that is not a fire type move both in smash and pokemon games).
6:09 wrong it doesn't need to evolve to learn water gun. It learns it at about level 10 I think. Edit just watched a little later in the video and I must say something LEVELING UP AND EVOLVING ARE TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS!!!!
@@EduardoHatchet I'm going to have to disagree on that one. He's not exactly top tier in Gen 1, but he is one of the strongest sweepers in Gen 1 UU due to his speed, Swords Dance, Earthquake, and Body Slam/Hyper Beam. He wasn't top tier or anything, but Gen 1 Charizard could have been a lot worse. It's also worth noting that, in Gen 1, the OU club is pretty heavily restrictive, so more Pokemon were UU than not, so that isn't actually that bad. No, Charizard started sucking in Gen 4, aka the generation that gave Rock types Stone Edge and, more importantly, Stealth Rocks. In Gens 2 and 3, he was effective as a late game cleaner due to getting Belly Drum that generation. In Gen 4? No. Losing half your health for switching in makes Belly Drum completely unusable, so Charizard lost his biggest toy to play with, along with any hope of surviving an attack. It was gens 4 and 5 where Charizard was useless. In gen 1, he was tolerable, in gens 2 and 3, he was potent, but required set up. In gens 6 and 7, well... Mega Evolution exists.
@@michaelbesser5348 when i said he was worthless in gen 1, I meant that he was not worth using in comparison to other pokemon, (and the fact that he could't learn fly wich made him a bad choice for a regular playthrough) and I knew that in gen 1 and 2 he wasn't that bad (that's why I said he -kinda- sucked) but I also knew there were way better pokemon, and the stealth rock thing
DeathZelta ewe yeah at least he was fun. And fun to fight against. Then you look at characters like Bayonetta that juggle you for the entire match and suddenly Pokemon Tekken in Smash doesn't look so bad afterall
He’s saying Pokémon Trainer was poorly designed. It was a good idea and in the end it was fun, but the stamina and effectiveness mechanics hindered the overall concept and fun of the character in some way.
Black Dragons Just because a character is OP doesn’t make them badly designed (at least in the same way as Pokémon Trainer.) Bayonetta’s combos are actual combos you can do in her games so her overall design and concept as a Smash character was handled very well (even though it makes her pretty OP)
*Obviously* Charizard returned as a standalone character in Sm4sh because he's one of the most popular Pokemon of all time and Sm4sh needed more heavyweights.
I mean look at mega charizard X. It’s black and it’s got blue flames on its tail and coming from its mouth. It’s an even cooler design for a Pokemon a lot of people already loved. Of course they’re going to market it because it will sell.
I stand by my 9 year old self from the release of brawl when I say Pokémon Trainer is undoubtedly the COOLEST addition to Brawl and it blew my god damn mind and everyday I mourn the loss of him to the 3DS' shitty hardware. Removal of the strange stamina mechanic and tweaking the effectiveness system would've helped IMMENSELY
The reason transformations were removed was because MashedPotato Samurai didn't want any one character to have more than one moveset that you needed to learn to play as or play against. I would have preferred if characters like Sheik/Zelda and Pokemon Trainer worked out though, the concept had potential.
when I play Brawled (havent played in a while), loved paying as Pokemon trainer. I guess its because of the whole "3 characters in one" thing. i didnt even mind the random change from one pokemon to another, I found it engaging and fun to see how ill adapt as the battle goes on. Had no idea about stamina and type effects though.
yeah i agreed pokemon trainer its about skill and strategy if youre lacking at pokemon trainer dont play as him (or practice to get better). i hate everyone see him suck because they dont have skill play as him lol.
You made it seem like Pokemon trainer was bad but really it was pretty good and did not deserve its flack also the gimmicks in pokemon trainer were there because brawl was gimmicky. Edit here I do not mean to say that the character was a great character but it was fun and as Smash is a fighting party game, and it is (Sakurai said himself he sees it as a party game). But it really liked the character, if I ever want to play brawl I will mess around with Ivysaurs aerials and then swapping all the way to squirtle. The character was unique it was fun, and there is lots of fun to be had playing as Pokemon Trainer
Jake Hildebrand that's not even close to true. Squirtle was okay (fast, great aerial attacks), but Charizard and Ivysaur were really bad in a competitive setting. Plus, because of the stamina system you couldn't just stay as Squirtle the whole time, you have to switch to one of the others.
+Mike Strong Since a lot of characters were broken in Brawl, the pokemon can dodge strong moves made by bosses or foes by switching. Many strategies are usually if you are a Pokemon Trainer main. People use it both for tournaments and at home. But to be fair, like all players, it actually depends how the player uses the character
Ivysaur was actually my favorite out of the three starters, and if they bring back transformation in smash 5, then I hope ivysaur and squirtle evolve into venasaur and blastoise respectively. Of course, they would all be slow, but I see no problem with this as long as they keep character customization. Also, I would love to see Typhlosion in smash, but that probably isn’t going to happen. Maybe they could add a Johto Pokémon trainer?
TheWild Pikmin i can tell typhlosion is ur favourite pokemon and that makes me so happy cause hes my favourite and basically no one else appreciates him lmao
Alonso Pérez Olmos it’s smash four version 1... the 3DS version is version 2. They were released a little bit apart from each other, but essentially the same game. It’s like the difference between Pokémon X and Y or Sun and Moon. They aren’t sequels or prequels to each other, they just exist.
I’d actually prefer them to stay as the same. Or they could switch it up like Squirtle is wartortle, ivysaur is venasaur, and charizard is charmander. But I hope they keep The Pokémon the same
Kenny McCormick I mean... it is... The opening I literally the first opening for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Diamond is Unbreakable, so I don’t know why you said yes and no...
Pokemon trainer as many flaws as he had was extremely unique and actually made him very fun because brawl was kinda a casual game. Ivysaur and squirtle are really no different from the other characters having attacks that don't actually do what they did in their game. I don't know how anyone doesn't like pokemon because at this point in time not liking it is like not liking pizza.
13:07 uh, why are you assuming these are dragon claw and tail? the one on the left can easily be slash (and doesnt have any purple effects to make it dragon-esque, and charizard isn't a dragon type so slash is more natural,) and the one on the right, while it sort of works like dragon tail does (launches far, bad priority,) the bulk of the attack comes from the flame on the tail, making it more like a smash original, since the focus isnt to hit with the tail but with the flame.
And they're back for Ultimate - except this time they're good without all the bs mechanics!

Pokemon Trainer was my main and I hope all three characters come back as their own playable characters. I honestly thought the design of Pokemon Trainer was genius.
I got good news
Since PKMT is coming back, got any tips on how to turn me from a Youngster skill level to an Ace Trainer.?

Wow, all these years of playing Pokémon, and I'm just now learning that you learn moves not by leveling up, but by evolving!
tsukinoakuma I don't evolve my Pokemon
This aged poorly. lol
Why
Guillo 15 Cuz Ultimate
@@liamryan7239 the video still aplies well
This aplies to brawl
...no they fixed the problems this video points out.
It's the opposite of aging poorly
I just need to point this things
1. In pokemon games it's common to teach pokemon tm/hm attacks,
2. You can use fly in battle,
3. Charizard side-air looks more like slash or scratch than dragon claw.
4. In his final smash he uses moves fly and fire blast.
5. His custom neutral special 1 is fire fang from pokemon games
6. Custom side specials 2 and 3 are blast burn (that works kinda like in pokemon games as it's more powerful attack)
and dragon rush (that is not a fire type move both in smash and pokemon games).
bullet seed can hit a max of 5 times, and in smash, bullet seed can be held for up to 5 seconds, dealing up to 50% damage.
This was already my favourite channel in youtube, you didn't have to add the JoJo references, but you did, and I love you
6:09 wrong it doesn't need to evolve to learn water gun. It learns it at about level 10 I think.
Edit just watched a little later in the video and I must say something
LEVELING UP AND EVOLVING ARE TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS!!!!
*Why you gotta expose him, fam?*
Yah I watched another video and he said "Mewtwo doesn't learn Shadow Ball by level up." You don't say
Guys, he've literally said this on every video where it's pertinent:
He does not care about Pokémon!

Charizard wasn't chosen to return because he was better, he was chosen for fan service.
Michael Davis if they were gonna choose it based on fan service it would've been all 3 dumbass
@@sepantap they didnt have room from all of them
@@EduardoHatchet I'm going to have to disagree on that one.

??? Wha-
Smash ultimate came out in 2018-
I freaking LOVE that JoJo's reference in the beginning. Best one I have ever seen in my life time.
Withdraw is actually a really good move in Ultimate
IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE?!?
At least Pokemon Trainer is being fixed in Smash Ultimate.
Haha 69 funny
pokemon trainer is not the worst character in smash history, by far he is not.
Star Falchion sorry I just think "dumb gimmics" and "overpowerd as fuck" are both bad designs
DeathZelta ewe F#CK WITCH TIME AND THAT UP KICK THING BAYONETTA USED

Cat, why are you eating plastic?
And then they brought back Pokémon Trainer.
Which makes me delighted! :D

And Wolf, Pichu, Young, Link, and Ice Climbers
*Obviously* Charizard returned as a standalone character in Sm4sh because he's one of the most popular Pokemon of all time and Sm4sh needed more heavyweights.
I'm proud to say that Pokémon Trainer was my Brawl main.
In fact Charizard holds a special place in my heart in Smash because of that.

Nick Smith I know right.
3:41, Woody's laugh in the background?
They chose him because of mega evolution
U didnt mention how Rock Smash also has super armor...
or he's mostly people's bias?
I mean look at mega charizard X. It’s black and it’s got blue flames on its tail and coming from its mouth. It’s an even cooler design for a Pokemon a lot of people already loved. Of course they’re going to market it because it will sell.
The final evolutions of squirtle and bulbasaur (Blastoise and Venusaur) Have Megas as well...
Dominick DiBart There were no Megas back then.
In a perfect world. Transformations are relegated to up-taunt and Sheik and the like have true Down-B's. They are freed of their 3 move curse.
Poopmin S T A N D
Poopmin Exactly. It seems like Pokemon Trainers "unike traits" were just unnesecary nerfs.
The reason transformations were removed was because MashedPotato Samurai didn't want any one character to have more than one moveset that you needed to learn to play as or play against. I would have preferred if characters like Sheik/Zelda and Pokemon Trainer worked out though, the concept had potential.
Brian Muir I believe it was also mainly due to the 3ds hardware.
I don’t understand how you think everything about them is bad? Pokémon trainer is dope AF
Ollie Najnigier he sucks at them
Nah you just suck play as pokemon trainer thats all
when I play Brawled (havent played in a while), loved paying as Pokemon trainer.
Well, he is also biased. (Idk how you can NOT love the Pokémon games, but oh well)
10:45 Oh, I always thought that was a reference to Ridley! Well, at least we have the real thing now.
Reason 4: My boy Ivysaur’s recovery.
I wanted Ivysaur
And I wanted spongebob
#ShrekForSmash
Cody Natale says the guy with a pichu profile.
Red explain how it was good
Jake Hildebrand that's not even close to true.
Anybody else’s audio glitch at 12:02? This isn’t my first time watching this video, so I know it’s a new thing
Probably copyrighted audio? He might have just cut it out
Most likely just cut it out due to the music.
_acidbath thanks for the kind words.
Smash Wii U is actually 5
Alonso Pérez Olmos it’s smash four version 1... the 3DS version is version 2. They were released a little bit apart from each other, but essentially the same game. It’s like the difference between Pokémon X and Y or Sun and Moon. They aren’t sequels or prequels to each other, they just exist.
I’d actually prefer them to stay as the same. Or they could switch it up like Squirtle is wartortle, ivysaur is venasaur, and charizard is charmander. But I hope they keep The Pokémon the same
1:12 that didnt age well
to be fair this entire video didnt really age well

Kenny McCormick I mean... it is... The opening I literally the first opening for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Diamond is Unbreakable, so I don’t know why you said yes and no...
TheGrufo because it's just the opening. The entire video isn't a reference to the show
What about the ending?
MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAUMUDA MUDA
This was the best UA-cam intro ever 🔥🔥🔥
Pokemon trainer as many flaws as he had was extremely unique and actually made him very fun because brawl was kinda a casual game. Ivysaur and squirtle are really no different from the other characters having attacks that don't actually do what they did in their game. I don't know how anyone doesn't like pokemon because at this point in time not liking it is like not liking pizza.
I miss Ivysaur. Playing with him was really fun.
"Crazy Noisy Verdanturf Town" is my favorite anime song.
Was that intro sequence a JoJo reference?
