Perfect video for my December trip! As an Alaskan I'm very familiar with the cold but that being said, I'm familiar with it in Alaska! Not the rest of the world! You never know until you're actually there how the differences will add up until you're freezing and miserable! I hope the next time I can visit New York will be like...September to October. That sounds like a nice time of year for NYC and not too hot for my frozen body LOL. Thanks for the tips!

I live in NYC one of the worse pain is being soaked by a rain storm or having wet feet and legs after it snows.
Great guide for people that are going to NYC in the winter months.

I've been to NYC in December and yes it was the wind chill that was the worst, the same as here in the UK - and if we were to let the weather stop us doing things we'd never do anything, so as you say you learn to wrap up and carry on. I think I own more boots than shoes lol.

Hi Thea, great job! I appreciate the compassion your video showed. My wife moved here from Costa Rica and the temperature transition hit her hard. It wasn't until we got conscious of getting her full artic gear that she was able to navigate the streets. Also don't forget the old addage, "when your feet get cold, put on a hat." Keep up the good work.

"I have some interesting things relevant to the discussion. As my namesake suggest where I'm from, cold isn't exactly a problem in our part of the world, but not to say it doesn't get cold like a Winter in NY, it does if we consider the elevation. but we are talking about comparing 40 degrees north of the Equator that's affected by both the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf stream with 40 Degrees south where a similar warm water stream in the southern ocean that goes around the Earth starting 47 Degrees South makes it the way it is in Australian climates. But here are some Australian commonalities that although true that NY in the southern hemisphere sits about 100 Km or 60 miles north of the Island state of Tasmania over the bass straight. The north side of Bass Straight is The City of Melbourne sits 36 degrees south about 230 Nautical Km or roughly placing NY 135 NM south of the city of Melbourne, but the area is magnitudes warmer than NY winters, sea-level snow might as well for Melbourne be none year-round. Up over there as we say here, the USA city that closely matches Melbourne is fort Lauderdale. during Xmas Time Melbourne can feel more Tropical than any fort Lauderdale summer. For Australians to see snowfall at sea level we have to go to Tasmania, the state capital of Hobart which sits 43 degrees south, nearly nova scotia north of the equator, but it is still quite a rare event until elevation of 200 meters above mean sea level to consistently see snow settle in winter and somewhat in the Summer. Incredible geography right?"
