    Got the 2009 320CDI Sport - agree great looks...in fact go so far as to say one of nicest ever looking Mercs. Reckon will become classic, especially later as better rear end. If you like a bit more performance go for a remap. Can get amazing extra 60 to 70 bhp and even 3 to 4 mpg on long run on a mix remap. Can get 40 plus mpg on long run. Fab car all around. Love it!

      They're excellent all-rounders. I only intended to keep mine for the duration of the review but the more I drove it the more impressed I was with it, and mine's done over 120k.

    I have a 2005 CLK 55 AMG and I am not sure about the suspension but In Sport/Comfort modes, the steering unit does change feedback. Same when the Stability control is turned off. It actually changes so much that it almost mimics electronic dampeners.

    Love my silver 2001 CLK 320. Just a beautiful looking car and very smooth. The open road is what it's made for; it's a very good tourer. Feels solid and safe when you're sitting in it. Nothing much else compares.

    I have the straight 6 320 CDI E Class AMG. They are fantastic cars. Though verily if you have a diesel it is essential to have a stage one remap! It took the FOXMOBILE from 207 hp to 275 hp......and it kicks ass!!!...................💪

    Just purchased one & I love it. Power & comfort. However, the seats could be a pinch wider as they do pinch and I'm not obese. Definitely a silent German beast ready to pounce when called upon.

      I've had this one for a while now, though I never intended too. It's the kind of car for which your appreciation grows and grows over time. It just does so many things so well that after a while it gets difficult to find something else with the same breadth of abilities. Great cars. You won't regret it.

    I drove a lot of mercedes with OM642 engine. The engine makes a wonderfull sound. For a country where all cars are under 2L and 4 or less cylinders as soon as you pull up with a V6 rumble people think you are rich

    Love mine, one of the best compromises for being cheap to run and still fun to drive that I've found. Just so you know, C mode on the gearbox also misses out 1st gear and starts off in second, and for some bizarre reason known only to Mercedes, also uses a different reverse gear. Also responds ridiculously well to a good remap. :D

    • @Simon78
      @Simon78 2 роки тому +1

      The gearbox can be remapped ?!

    • @FuzzWoof
      @FuzzWoof 2 роки тому

      @@Simon78 I meant the engine, but yes, the 7speed gearbox can also be remapped - it's quite common for a good tuning place to do both together.

    • @davefrance3721
      @davefrance3721 2 роки тому

      C is comfort mode. I don't really like it as sometimes it will unexpectedly snatch down into first gear when pulling away on an incline or when moving off and you press the throttle a bit harder.
      I leave mine in sport mode most of the time so it always pulls away in first gear, and if you drive it with a light foot it still changes up the gears at the same time as it would in comfort mode, plus you have the added benefit of keeping first gear well oiled.
      You can reset the gearbox so it re learns your driving style. It takes about 3 minutes in total to complete. There are videos on UA-cam about how to do this.
      It does make a difference.

    • @ftffighter
      @ftffighter 2 місяці тому

      Theoretically, a smaller reverse gear = less loss in output from the transmission so it's possible Mercedes did it to help give the car a little more oomph. That's a completely uneducated guess though.

      I have a CLK500 V8 5.0 and a BMW E92 320D 184hp remap, i prefer the BMW for handling, sportness and steering wheel feeling, very superb .
      I found CLK's steering wheel a bit numb and the handling is not good as the Bmw , but when you have a V8 on it, you'll have a big smile too.
      Great car indeed , very good quality overall and very technological also for a 20 years old car, i love both😊

    • @davefrance3721
      @davefrance3721 2 роки тому

      The 5 speed box was left in the AMG and and the CDI sport because it can handle the torque, up to 1000 nm if memory serves me right.
      The CDI Sport got the same running gear as the AMG.
      The 7 speed box is ok, but they do need regular servicing whereas the 5 speed box is well proven and does not require servicing, But I did have mine serviced at a cost of 200 UK pounds. I was lucky I did that, as the sump was leaking slightly, the sump and filter was replaced as part of the service. The old oil wasn't that bad, but as I planned on keeping the car and it was 14 years old, I replaced all the fluids as a precautionary measure. Gearbox, back axle, and power steering.
