- The Van's Aircraft RV-12is is the newest version of the already successful RV-12 ULS. It is the easiest build that Vans has produced to date and was engineered with detachable wings and therefore trailerable. It is reasonably priced compared to similar kit planes. Possibly the best two seater kit plane to date. You can build an RV-12 quicker than any of Van's other model.
Made in the USA with detailed, step-by-step and fully-illustrated builders manual. RV-12is is Light Sport, TOTAL PERFORMANCE!
Engine Start: 5:18
This is going to sound odd but I actually prefer the panel mounted trim on the RV-12 vs the stick mounted trim on the 12is. The way your arm rests on your leg, the trim is way up on the top of the stick and I actually find myself adjusting it with my right hand, of all things. The other thing that’s odd is the electric flaps. They’re continuous so you can find yourself with inconsistent flap settings until you get a really solid routine in place. But in every other way, the 12is is a superior aircraft, imo. The Piper style throttle is easier to manipulate and the fit/finish of everything just SEEMS nicer (in the one I’ve flown at least), etc. The 12is I’ve flown in also has a 2 axis autopilot so that’s a nice little feature that many of bare bones 12s don’t have.
Really nice looking plane.
That's wrong, the visibility isn't any better than any other plane in that category. The DA20 and DA40 is better actually because the pilot is seated further forward near the leading edge of the wing. Those huge wings take up a lot of the downward and lower rearward view. Also, why would Vans not switch to a flush rivet installation instead of the standard rivets?
Beautiful aircraft
Hello, I have a question. Do you bleed to check if there is water in the fuel tank?
Lands on the left side of the runway so other aircraft can pass, lol!
Great video!
Good hack on burpees
Beautiful plane and I’ve had my share of bad landings but I wouldn’t promote one of mine so left of center.
No ballistic parachute?
nope
man i was worried when he was propping that engine.
For the Rotax engine, this is normal when checking oil levels.
The first few times you do it, it feels really odd. The checklist has a big, red “MAKE SURE IGNITIONS ARE OFF” warning lol
How many G's can it pull? Can it do aerobatics?
No aerobatics for the RV-12. Not sure on the G but you can ask Vans Aircraft
No aerobatics. Not sure on the G's
+4.0 G’s and -2.0 G’s.Aerobatics are prohibited and no intentional spins.
A bit of a price increase since this video, Eh?
I haven’t really looked lately but I bet it has
Does it come with a BRS parachute option??
No not as a LSA build. It is possible to build the RV12is as an Amateur build and then you can modify it any way you like i quess.
@@planetruth9514 Thank you. And with the Rotax engine, there is no mixture control? Leaning process is fully automated??
Hint to youtubers all over, if you start your video with crappy obnoxious music and nausea inducing sped up camera work, you get less views and really short views.
Thanks for the tip, even though I have 10x more subscribers than you!
please price. thanks

@@planetruth9514 HAVE A NICE DAY. HOW MANY LITER CONSUMPTION IS IN 2000 KM WITH 300 OR 200 KM/H CONSTANT SPEED.? THANKS.
Has this, has that, has this paint, takes off in so much number of feet, quick build, but at the end of the day, It still sounds llie a snowmobile. Do you think anyone would ever buy a Harley Davidson if it sounded like a snowmobile? As much as these things cost, I want a real 2000 hour TBO airplane engine installed In my airplane please.
You can, if you're willing to pay for it. $50k is a pretty big hit to the budget.
I’d rather have a snowmobile than a Harley any day
Lycoming = old rock crusher technology…Rotax liquid cooled heads that make the engine go way past the TBO of 2000 hours if desired.
That landing was so far off centerline.
So was the takeoff lol
@@michaelharper895 13 kt crosswind will do that to you
