- Owned 6 months: It's time to replace the air filter in our 2021 Honda CRF125FB. Thankfully, the process is simple and inexpensive.
We purchased this new 2021 Honda CRF125FB (Big Wheel) from Western Honda in Scottsdale, on 2/26/2021. Our Salesman Dennis was great to work with and very helpful through the purchase process. This is video #16 in our 2021 Honda CRF125FB video series. We purchased this Honda trail bike with hopes that adults and our growing kids will make memories and find adventure while riding it. We invite you to follow along as we ride this bike, evaluate it, and modify it to meet our needs.
Modifications/Upgrades:

Nice Lil trail bike. Doin great basic maintenance will make it run its best & last a long time! Run a good semi-synthetic 10w40 engine oil like Maxima or Bel-ray..far better than Honda oil.
I was not aware of this. Do you have any good sources as to why the honda oil isn’t as good?
I'm going to look at a used CRF 125. What size socket do I need to bring in order to remove those two bolts holding the access panel?
I think it’s 8mm. Bring a 10mm and 8mm and you can’t go wrong.
Was it part number 17213-K28-910? You also said it's pre-oiled, right? Thanks for the video.

Def be sure to buy a pre-oiled filter no matter what brand filter you buy. Try Maxima products there motor oil is phenomenal. Twin Air is an excellent air filter Co too.
How often should I replace it? I’ve had mine for 4 months and haven’t changed it is that bad?
Depends on how much you ride, and how dusty it is. But I’d say at least every 6 months if you ARE riding it.

Coastal Premium Hi-Temp Grease.

Trying to track down a filter sock for this. Any ideas?
Good question! I have not considered that myself. I do not have one on mine. I trust the stock setup. But, I am not opposed to more caution when it comes to air filters. It's possible this design is still new new enough no one has made one, or perhaps there isn't enough demand. Thanks for watching.
@@SouthwestORV for sure. The closest park we have is mostly sand so a sock is highly recommended. Anywhere that's sand heavy, sock is recommended.
What if there is oil in the bottom of air box and just started leaking a little from it
Probably just blow-by from the crank case breather…your engine oil could be over full or you’re revving it hard. Or could just be too much oil on air filter and it’s accumulating in the bottom of the air box. Those are my guesses.
