Nice flight with the moustache until I get too far into the lee. Beautiful flying area in Normandy

- It was a great flight. However, with a wind speed of 18km/h and gusts of 33km/h, it was rather micxed meat. Had trouble keeping my height because I have 96kg at 18 square metres. But I found the updrafts and was able to keep my height steady. When I was able to raise the starting place, a gust moved me slightly and with the pendulum I got into the lee. After that, I had almost no pressure in the brake lines and still tried to fly to the left of the rock, but had so much sinking that I hard on the slope. Couldn't believe afterwards that I had almost nothing except some bruises and a little dust in my eyes. Not to imagine what could have gone wrong. Retrospectively, two wind directions were also felt when I ran back, and crossing winds are simply very dangerous so close to the terrain. A hard turn back into the wind would certainly have been good. But there probably are no intelligent accidents;)

Glad you’re not hurt. Takes thick skin to share this video!
Thank you. I always like to learn from mistakes of others, hope others do the same. This wing is so fast that you just end up in the lee very quickly, in the future I will make the line very clear to prevent something like that. Up to 15/20 km/h wind I find in lee flying mostly okay 😏
@@Flyingtree love the content. I’ve been the area there and always wanted to soar those bluffs. Pain in the kiester to carry my hang glider around the world in the C130. Now with paragliding, it’s much easier to soar while traveling. Keep up the good work, I’m subscribed 🤠
Holy crap! 😬 I'm happy you're ok! Especially with that light weight harness, glad you didn't injure your back, that was a hard landing! Thanks for sharing the video! Thumbs up.
I was also surprised that I had survived this so well ;)
Wow, a crash with the moustache is more dangerous than with a normal wing because the speed is higher. I'm glad you ended up in a relatively safe spot.
Yes, I probably had more than one guardian angel by my side 🙄
Thank you for sharing this!! I am very glad to see that you were ok. Hope you are still flying😊
Still fly a little over 100 hours a year. However, coasts are usually only a couple of days. Flying is like a reset button for me. Five children and a tree care company can be exhausting ;)
thanks for posting!
yes lee is no fun with this Ferrari...;)
Daniel, thank you for this video. Courage! I'm your weight with an 18. I love it and hope this has not put you off flying it. Could have happened just the same on another wing, would have been slower of course. I'm defo coming to Normandy soon with my Moustache!!!!
I think that he is even a lot of safety reserves because of his speed like a two-line…love it;)
Its amazing how fast lift drops out on lee-side had a close call myself a few weeks back.
I was really in a bad spot and realized it way too late. After I thought I would crash, I keep the wing over my head and slam to break before impact. I was really surprised that I have, except of a few scratches, nothing.
@@Flyingtree Right-on !
I hear that the Moustache is an excellent wing for Powered Paragliding. What do you think?
The speed range is very large. But the pressure on the brakes is also very high…over 1.5 hours you can already notice it very much 💪☝️
Damn dude, are you ok? Stay safe.
Yes, I'm doing surprisingly well, thanks for asking. lesson learned. from switzerland ;)
Tough guy! did you have any frontal collapse? almost no pressure in the brake lines. How was your brake position in the last seconds?
In the lee, the pressure in the paraglider was about half as high as normal. Then wanted to fly to the left of the rock but it went down too much just before the impact I pulled through the brakes. But always have the feeling with the wing that the pressure increases sharply when demolished, so here too.
crossing that ridge was asking for it
Yes that's right, but shortly before I got a gust, which is why I flew a little to the left. Otherwise it would have been enough...;)
I fly also a Moustache. I am afraid for this. When you take the Brake, you have no more Energy, when you fly with Hands up, you have it. Her you see, gloves and airback iş also on the beach safty. Good luck.
Yes, the feeling is especially present in the terrain, I know what you are talking about😅 Especially in tailwinds when you no longer have energy to turn into the wind....beautiful if you then have sand 🏄♂️ hehe
you were seeing how close you could get. oops you got to close. caught between a rock and a hard place. you got lucky!!!
Yes, you're right and I wasn't quite aware of how fast the wing is either :-/
in good stead of an obsolete moustache as a visual , one wise man could create a vertebrate decal as a helping mindset some day.
lucky escape .
Yes, there is no doubt about that luck was on my side 😏
🙏🏻🇬🇧
you're good the most important. experiences earn it. Fly Baby Fly.
hehe
Mistake to learn from. Lee side rotors also in laminar costal winds. Never cross that ridge!
Yes, I was just happy to have gained height again that I lost sight of the essential ☠️
Der crash hätte nicht besser laufen können 😂
Ja da hätte einiges passieren können 😬 Aber Glück gehört auch ab und an zum Leben 😎
You burned off luck enough for a year or 2 in just a few seconds...
I am an arborist and have already been incredibly lucky (Instagram baumpflege_simon). But you're probably right about this😏
Hoffentlich nichts passiert…. Aber Pilotenfehler, ein wenig übermütig geworden!!
Ja schon aber dabei auch viel gelernt 😏
