So although in Japan the age of consent is 13, prostitution is penalised. Nigeria has an 11 age of consent, but it's penalised there too, same with Muslim countries where the age of consent is 9.
@tuckerbugeater child prostitution? No one mentioned that. If a man of 18, and a 13 year old Japanese girl, get married, and stay in Japan, how is the "American law" going to know? That's Japan, a developed nation, what about in Nigeria where the age of consent is 11? If an American, born in America, but then was sent back when he was 13, meets a girl a year later when she is 11, and they're together for life, how is that child prostitution? People of the usa mix up the terms. Child prostitution clearly means a child doing sexual exploits for "many" (a keyword) men, in "exchange" for goods or money. They usually have a pimp, and many working girls. Now don't get me wrong, when someone (man or woman) that is clearly older, let's say 30, get with a young teen, like 14, although that's strange, it's happened many times. Scopolamine has been about for decades. It is very often used in surgery, as an antimuscarinic. It may be relatively new to the trade in illegal compounds - but that is something I know little about.
Scopolamine comes from plants belonging to the nightshade family. It’s been used since ancient times as a medicine and for ceremonial/religious/ cultural purposes. Medicines containing Scopolamine can be bought over the counter at pharmacies, it’s used to relieve intestinal cramping.

Don't lisen to the guy below , as a Colombian citizen, I COMPLETELY RECOMMEND to come here and visit Colombia! All cities and countries have their good side and bad side. Medellin is no different.
South America has a beautiful culture and people but just too dangerous man. It's literally Pablo's Homeland and this place is just too third world. Stick to Mexico and even in Mexico you gotta watch out.
Ignoring the problems with your country doesn't hide the fact that the problems are there. Even some of your fellow Columbians who fled to the US recommended people not to travel to Columbia. They said the risk wasn't worth it.
I remember years ago when I used to live in Panama, we were drinking beer in a friends house and his father was a Merchant Mariner and he said in the late 70s, when he made Port stop in Port of Barranquilla, Colombia, he would never accept an open soda or drink. He said once a store clerk open a soda, they were trained to always put the tip of the finger in the drink, then touch the tip of their tongue, his tongue felt like three injections of anesthesia for a day. I'm sure there's more powerful poison today but remember, tourist go to these places to do things they don't want their families and friends to know.
drink spiking is common in many areas, not just central or southern America. Good policy anywhere is to watch your can or bottle of beer closely. If in doubt get a new unopened one. People get paid by others to spike your drink..... and you are raped or robbed or dead.
I just came back from 10 days in Medellin. Solo female traveler. It’s amazing. The food is outstanding, interior design is gorgeous, people are kind. I got an amazing blowout in one of the best neighborhoods for $8.50, in America it would be $60. Stop with the scare tactics. I did see some scantily clad women next to the museum downtown and near a church, but Los Angeles is way worse. It’s nothing like America. I used Uber comfort and my drivers had nice cars and their day jobs were engineer, retired police, etc. the flight was so easy, two 3.5 hour legs from Detroit. $350 on Spirit. I saw Pavo Escobars lake house, rode atv, a boat. I ate amazing food. walked round a beautiful mall, beautiful neighborhoods. Huge grocery stores with everything in it. I stayed in two neighborhoods- el poblado and laureles. I did a day trip to several towns on the way to a huge rock. Everything was fine!
Colombia is not the problem, the problem is in what they are looking for… as Colombians we say: no busques lo que se te ha perdido… if you don’t want some troubles and ended up being murdered, just don’t come with your bull💩 and that’s all.
The nightlife actually isn't very good. The music is extremely loud and awful. The brothels and strip clubs can be fun but if you go to the ones all the westerners go to be ready to spend a lot of money.
"And yes, it's a problem, especially in these areas where these people go looking for what they should not be looking for." ~ No truer words were ever spoken.
Someone please give a heads up to Prince Harry. He might unwittingly wander into one of these bedrooms while he’s supposed to be on a visit to the country.
About 1 out of every 100,000 tourists who visited Medellin last year died by overdosing on scopolamine or violent death. So if you're an American like I am you're actually safer there then any city in the USA. Especially if you're not out a night looking for "action" or drugs. As someone who has lived in Medellin for over a year and a half out of the last three I can tell you the crime problem in Medellin is way over blown. There were roughly 31 tourist deaths in Medellin in 2023 and half of them were suicides, natural causes or self induced drug overdoses. For the most part the guys who do get scoped, drugged with scopolamine, are usually accidental deaths. They are guys who arrange dates on Tinder or other apps and the ladies who drugged them gave them to much so they OD. I personally knew two guys who were drugged, both lived and were simply robbed and they made stupid mistakes. Never leave your open drink accessible to people you don't know or just invite them into your room to hangout, that's good advice anywhere. I look forward to returning to Medellin next year, the people are wonderful, the culture is sexy and vibrant and the city is very clean and appealing for the most part and the neighborhoods I have lived in are second to none for quality of life. Clutch your pearls and stay home if you want to believe fear mongering like this ilo of finding out for yourselves.
The best thing about Medellín, imho, is the location. Really it is stunning. Something great to do there is to go on one of the buses that take the regular public around the towns etc. near Medellín. You will see such beautiful scenery and have a lot of fun with the Colombian people, who are very good natured. I went on a bus trip to el Peñón de Guatapé, truly unforgettable.
If the average tourist stays for 2 weeks, then the average number of tourists present is 4,000 of 100,000. Then the annual death rate is 1 out of 4000 or 25 out of 100,000 which is the average for Colombia or Mexico as a whole or the worst cities of the US.
@@stevegfromnc3482 Got Math? 1.5 million visitors a years doesn't even come close to being only 4000 every two weeks. Add another couple of zeros to that there Steve. 100,000 is the amount per crime base not the amount of tourists. You can go to Pablado on a Friday night and probably see 4000 tourists walking around. The State of Alabama has a higher homicide and violent crime rate then Medellin as do a number of States and there are well over 100 US cities that have higher violent crime statistics as well. This is a typical clickbait presentation making something sound much worse then it is. I have spent the last 4 years traveling the globe looking for a place to retire and Colombia is still number one and it wasn't even on my original list. I ended up in Medellin by chance and will be returning to retire there next year now that I am finally old enough to collect social security. Good luck if your stuck in America you'll need it.
It has to be more than scopolamine in that sleeping drug. Scopolamine is used medically for nausea and air sickness and i never felt sleepy from it. My hypothesis is they combine it with barbiturates or opiates to have the effect described.
That's because of the dose you took through that patch. It's just incredibly small in comparison to the dose that these people are using. Scopolamine has been used to induce a "twilight sleep" for hundreds of years, and still is used for that purpose above-board, for surgeries.
Scopolamine is often used for sea sickness. It’s available in a transdermal patch that is placed behind the ear. It has also been used as an “ truth serum’ but I’m not sure of the dosage . I’d like to try some in solution.
I'm from Colombian and yes coming to Colombia on vacation can be INCREDIBLE but DO NOT go to places like Medellin for things like discotecas, go to natural places like La Tairona or historical/religious places like Monseratte and if you can get a a friend who is Colombian or a PROPER spanish speaker to go with you, our country is beautiful pero no te pasas.
no reason to fear it if you are not trying to pick up whores and underagers. If you live normally with even a little decency and decorum, you won't be in that particular mix of people, where drugging is a concern. Choose your company carefully !!

95% of the market in Medellin is literally catering towards local Colombian men.
If you've ever been in one of these houses/ apartments, there are almost no gringos/tourists/ americans. It's 99% Colombian men. I just got back to the U.S. from Medellin. Tourists are only in poblado and laureless. But the city is so much bigger than those two areas. Tourists only go to Medellin, bogota, Cartagena, and sometimes Cali. There are definitely markets outside those tourist regions so how do you explain that? Tourists just get all the headlines because they post and talk about online and out in the open whereas Colombians don’t talk publicly about it.

1 OUT OF 100,000?? NO WAY TRY 100 OR EVEN MORE....
