Everything is more expensive here but that is the case in many countries at the moment. The UK is going through the same thing where grown adults are moving in with their parents so that they can afford to buy a home. It's ridiculous the cost of rent and homes in this country. If you work and need to be in your office you need to be close to the city so you can't move further away for a cheaper home and then you live in the city and can't even afford rent. The cost of living has gone up so much and the salaries have gone up very little. I know for myself and many that have a little bit of extra cash we are investing as I'm not even sure if our pension will be there when we retire at this point - and what they give seniors is not enough for them to live in this day and age so I can understand people leaving here and travelling probably chearper. It's sad what is happening to this country. I'm glad people want to come here but they need to know that it's not easy and Canadians work hard for what they have nothing is cheap here. I'm proud that my parents came here for work in the 70s and made a good life for us but at times I think had we stayed in Europe we would have appreciated life more.

I think the Canadian dream is broken but that doesn't mean it can't be "fixed" or recovered. This is coming from someone who is extremely pessimistic all the time.
