I know it's important to let babies make a mess for the babies' development and it can lead to food anxiety if you're very anxious about it yourself, but I must admit that I often need to take a deep breath and remind myself to let her do it instead of helping her with everything just to avoid getting messy.... I love seeing you do this approach, he's such a sweet little bean and it's amazing to see him grow and learn! Sending lots of love to your family!! Also can I just say, when his little sock came off during his second breast feeding session! What an incredibly cute little man
Loved this! I would love to hear what kind of parenting styles/practices you thought you would do before Rowan was born versus what you actually do now! ♥ I feel like we all have the idea of "the parent we're going to be" and "how we're going to raise our kids" and then you have one and things totally change! LOL
You are very good at the BLW. Very careful and thoughtful with what you give baby. Very similar go what I dud with my babies over 40 years ago. When you're doing weaning right, hour baby will sleep through the night. Good job mom!😁
Oh Rowan is getting so big. He was just born lord where did the time go. I love how your baby is growing and learning as you teach him. For me I raised 3 young adult children and I read a lot of books to them plus and all other great things down to preparing them fresh food daily. Your on the right path. Since I’m going to be a grandmother in July I watch your UA-cam videos on the items you bought him and the Montessori learning items too. I will subscribe to that website to get the information for my daughter baby so we can start
This was so helpful! My LO is about to turn 6 months so I've been browsing videos on BLW but our wake windows and feed session times are similar so felt good to watch!!
I couldn’t stop laughing at the Timelapse of him eating his breakfast. He is so cute!!! This was such a fun video and definitely got a lot of tips! Thank you! 🤍
So fun to see your baby is eating anything you gave him. My son started just fine first time trying food then becoming more refusing any food I gave him and he’s turning 7 months soon. It’s so frustrating 😔
He's doing amazing feeding himself. The only thing I would do is cut the avocado off the skin. My grandson is his age and he loves avocados. Good job mommy!!🤗
My baby just turned 8 months is strictly bf and having solids but she does not sleep through the night she wakes up at least twice to eat. Im gonna try to nurse her more during the day. Im jealous but happy that your baby sleeps through the night 🥰
He’s really getting the hang of it! You are doing awesome! I recently taught my son how drink out of a straw it’s been so much fun. We alternate that with open cup drinking. Keep up the great work mama
These videos are so heartwarming - it's so easy to see how much you love your little dude and how hard you are working to give him the best life you can
Oh wow! I love this! So helpful! Do you ever get scared to keep the peel on the avocado? We are starting solids next week and this was so helpful! Love you Megan!
I got freaked too, as I always take peel off. I left it on first time too thinking he would react ok, it split apart too easily with my sons teeth. But he’s good now, but still I never keep peels on.
Curious why not just use oatmeal cereal rather than rice cereal? Not asking out of judgement- genuinely asking because I just started using oatmeal cereal for my 5 month old.
Love this! We are gonna try blw in a month when our son is 6 months! I’m so scared about choking. Our baby still doesn’t want to try oatmeal after his bottles, it’s like he’s too full.
Just got recommendation from YT ...n the first thing that came across was ur thumbnail...loved ur videos... subbed as well...keep up the good work Which app u ur to create ur thumbnails...? But the best part is ur cute baby...
Is that the IKEA baby high chair? If so, where did you get that placemat cover for the top of it? Also, my baby is turning 6 months this week and i am terrified of him choking...how do you get past that? I feel like he couldn't handle those bread pieces...any advice from you or others?🙂
Rowan absolutely gagged many times during the BLW process. We supervised closely and didn’t ever have to intervene or do CPR. Bread gets very soggy and mushy so it’s generally easy to swallow. We got the placemats from Etsy, but it looks like they’re unavailable now. We don’t even use them anymore. You either clean them or clean the mat and you have to clean the baby’s hands or the mat or they get each other messy and it’s extra work!
My daughter is 6 months old I’m still stuck on purée she doesn’t like to eat at all so I find a way while we are eating same time I will give her but she will not even take more than 5 spoon
I always ask so many questions lol but I’m a learning mom as well and your videos have been so helpful! Is it hard stretching his wake windows as he gets older? I’ve learned that babies can become overtired, has this been an issue with the process?
We had a big issue with him getting overtired when he was a newborn but ever since we gently sleep trained it’s been a lot easier! One thing that’s been really helpful is switching activities often. Keeps him interested! As long as you pay attention to baby’s sleepy cues and are flexible with the schedule everything will work out! I’m so glad to hear the videos have been helpful. Please feel free to ask questions any time! 💛
Do you have a cute way that you label the purées in the freezer? I feel like you do everything so organized so I thought maybe you’d have a good suggestion! 🙂
My son is 7 months he eats solids here and there but he ended up really constipated have you ever had in issue with his bowl movements? How often does he poop?
Idk if you'll ever see this, but im a breastfeeding mom and I'm struggling with feeding. Is there any tips? My babygirl gags a lot and it worries me. 🥺
I’m not an expert so check with your doctor or lactation consultant but I would guess that it’s probably a forceful letdown issue! I have the same thing when my babies are really little and some tips that I’ve gotten to help me are to pump for 1 to 2 minutes to get the let down before latching them on and feeding at a reclined angle so gravity is keeping the milk from coming out too fast
@Megan Acuna I should've been more clear, my bad but I was saying like feeding but food not breastfeeding lol. Like how did you get him to not gag and like what did you start with, my daughter is 6 months and I give her puree cause she keeps gagging but idk if I should just give her food and let her practice. I'm like confused on what to do but this video helped a bit. So thank you sm. 😭
@@JustJocelyn2 Oh that’s totally normal! Them practicing the gagging reflex is actually a really good thing and gagging doesn’t lead to choking! I would recommend looking at the solid starts Instagram for more info about this
@@MeganAcuna this is a super random question but how did you get little mans bibs to stay on the back of his high chair? Do you just have like a wall hanger or something stuck to the back of it? My daughters bibs are always just laid out in the way and I LOVE your idea of having them on the high chair
Thanks for this video girl!! Does he ever choke?! My son seems to choke so easily on the smallest pieces of food 🙈 he’s only three weeks younger than Rowan! It scares me so bad but i wanna get more into baby led weaning but we’re stuck with purées
Did I miss it or I wish you talked more about the textures and how to get your baby to not instantly gag or choke when offering solids like toast! Help lol
I think we just got lucky that Rowan didn’t have too much of an issue! He coughed a bit the first few times but he got used to it really quickly. I would definitely recommend taking an infant cpr class to put your mind at ease! Tinyhood has a great one that’s online

The skin on the avocado helps him to grip it! Otherwise it is too slippery and he gets frustrated. I just remove them when he has gotten everything off of them
If you mean 6 months that’s totally normal! Rowan has just been a little ahead of the curve. Babe will meet his or her milestones in their own time; don’t worry mama! You’re doing a great job 💛
Is there a reason why you’re already transitioning to a two nap schedule? I read on the huckleberry blog that they usually aren’t ready till the 8-9 month mark so just wondering and curious!
He was consistently refusing his third nap and since he sleeps in fairly late (7:30-8 usually) it just made the most sense for our schedule to have 3 3 hour wake windows in the day. We heard at 6-7 months it was okay to transition if the baby is refusing that last nap/there’s not enough time for a full wake window before bed with three naps.
@@MeganAcuna I see! Also was wondering because I thought my girl was ready for two naps near the end of 6 months because she just seemed to get tired at the 3 hour Mark but then she reverted back to her regular 3 naps shortly after. Weirdly what’s working for us is she sleeps at 8pm wakes at 7:45 ish and then she’ll go down for the first nap REALLY soon after like an 1 hour or 1 hour and a half. At that point her next nap is a good 2.75 hour wake window! The last one before bed is about 3 hours. If you’re interested the huckleberry blog post talked about stretching the wake window for the last two naps but not completely skipping it yet. Ofc at the end of the day you know him best and he may just not need more sleep!
His hand-eye coordination is amazing! I love how you let him use the spoon himself

Hello I have a question how many months your baby start eating?
You might try a sippy cup for his water. They have some nice ones out.
