This is eeriely similar to the Jon Arryn plot from the game of thrones. [Spoilers for both Ghostwriter and GOT!] McAra dies a mysterious death just as Jon Arryn both had stumbled across the truth so our protagonist takes in charge and starts to uncover the truth himself after he does so he confronts the wive and then dies shortly thereafter.

Terrific film, so many "revelations" through the entire plot, great acting except that woman I can't stand, Olivia something, always the same in every movie, some high society witch, all she can do. The rest, superb, even the technical aspects, just, perfect. Watched it 15 times, absolutely recommend it.
