Just a helpful tip. I've been a manager for 3 years now. And today, I finally know what that feels like. I have a new employee, many years of experience. New to our company, back on the job after a couple of years. I work in a pharmacy so the law is very exact and the requirement is very straightforward. I had to redirect and educate. Bottom line, you know what the requirements are, you know what you need to get the job done. Do not be afraid to ask for that from your employee. That person was hired to perform those exact functions. If That is not possible you have to take the appropriate action.

Does the employee have self motivation? Does the employee care about their job. Does the employee hold themselves accountable for tasks to be finished. Does the employee come to work on time and come to work when scheduled. If they don't have any of these traits, then they will never be a good employee. Companies need to have a way were a manager can fire an employee easily who is manipulating situations to do less work or calling out for shifts. That way the message is out there if you are manipulative at work you get fired. If every company had this simple standard. We as managers would have an easier time managing & in turn will turn profits.

I wish a former employer would have done this with me. Instead, they told me what I needed to improve, I worked on it, then they pitched me out the door anyway.

Christopher Green That happens 💯 times. The “coaching “ process is to collect documentation so they can deflect a lawsuit if you sue.

One last thing, tell your employee what you expect from them. With that information the process should be nonconfrontational. If there is an issue that arrises after that, it will easily be resolved.

We want people who are cognitive and aware of their surroundings and are thinking. So, If you are dealing with all the minutia of every step that they need to follow, then you’re enabling them to stay stupid.
I found in my experience that a mediocre employee can be improved by putting good rules and policies and fences around them. There’s a process to evaluate that. If you challenge most people in the right way, they want to prove that they can meet that challenge. You’re creating these little benchmarks, these little milestones and you’re patting them on the head every time they reach the milestone.
If you’re training a dog and he’s not supposed to jump up on the couch, but you let him jump up on the couch on Fridays. Does he know what day Friday is? Does he know that he’s going to jump up on the couch on Monday, and then you’re yelling at him? Why are you yelling at me? You told me it was okay yesterday. What’s going on? It’s the same thing with people. It’s the same thing with your employees. You got to be consistent too.

Maybe leaders shouldnt force experimental medical procedures onto their employees in the first instance. You reap what you sow and you now reap employee disengagement forever and ever and ever.....................
