I love this talk about the radios and how they worked.more of these please.
Scott! I knew that was a 'breadboard' radio the second I saw it because my father, as you know, collected and restored antique radios and I became somewhat educated in the various types. Breadboards were one of his favorites and he would go on and on about them! I wish I had saved one of the Atwater-Kent breadboards that he had. My High School 'science project' was creating a 'Cat's Whisker/Crystal' radio, lol! Nice estate haul, thanks for sharing!
Ohhh Scott!! That lampshade!!!! ❤❤❤ I'm so happy you had a good time at the estate sale!!
The antique radios are great. Plus I absolutely love the lamp and shade!
Oh Scot what treasures you found today!😊
That lampshade is Ah-maz-ing!!! And that is a mother load of great old radios. I’d say you had a successful time at the estate sale. 🎉🎉🎉
Wow, those radios are amazing!
Score of a lifetime! ❤
I want a bed canopy that looks like that shade! Beautiful. 📻 are so complex...I'm not mechanically inclined so I best stick to gardening and cooking...my luck i'd get the wires done crossed and blow myself up.
So glad you had success at the estate sale 😊. The radio’s are fantastic. Love hearing you share your knowledge on them and everything else you know about antiques 😊. Thanks Scott! Have a nice evening. 🕊️
Loved those old radios !!!
I learned far more than I expected to today. This time radio’s! Thanks for that. You are just a plethora of infotainment!
You're funny Scott, like a kid with his new toys. Can't wait to see you getting the radios working again. ❤
😂😂😂😂how many radidios does it take to make a noise? Gotta love it😅 surround sound! We feel your excitement, so glad you snagged these. Tfs☺️
Beautiful lamp!!
That shade is a spectacular find!!❤
Scott I almost dropped my garter’s when I heard you say you were in Ridley Park or maybe Prospect Park. I live in Ridley Park and am so sorry I didn’t know we had an estate sale in our town or prospect park which is next town over. They are little boroughs that are next to each other. I truly would’ve had detached retina’s if I came upon you at the local Wawa on Chester Pike🤪. Sometime help the uneducated know where to look for estate sale notifications. Please can you at least say what street it was on. So glad you got the magnificent shade and the radio’s. Candy jar was an awesome deal💲
It’s beautiful! Nice find! ✌🏼
I learn so much from you !!!
The Universe was smiling on you Scott👏. Love the radios and that divine lamp shade! Estate sales
are always fun especially when it’s a home with super vintage goodies! Makes me wonder what other yummy items were there…..congrats on your finds👍
The lamp shade is nice but I love the radios. The Freshmen is a beauty!
Ding dang it! I find myself singing your little theme song all the time now!!! ❤😊
The green glass candy dish is nice. The price was affordable.
I enjoyed seeing your finds from the estate sale. 😊
I love WaDogs yum! Reminds me of the days when I lived in Jersey.
Fantastic radios Scott I just love them. And that lampshade great condition. Can’t wait to see it on the floor lamp.🐈⬛😀
Wow wow WOW!! These radios are amazing! Why don’t they make things this beautiful anymore ??? We were happy to see something so beautiful that came from Utah! Love these fun videos but hubby (Crazy K) is jelly!! Thanks for sharing Scott! ❤❤❤
Those are some neat radio's and I love the new shade.
That shade is glorious!! Good for you, Scott! 🎉❤
I was in a Nevada antique store few years ago….they had dozens of those glass tubes like on thar radio all in like new boxes,,all different sizes.. from tiny enough that I thought I could make some cool jewelry out of..to really large ones….all were pretty cool looking
Your mahogany floor lamp will be perfect for that size of lamp shade good job on getting the shade
Fantastic find. God’s blessings
Wow Scott I’m so happy for you. This is quite a score!!!😮
That lampshade is gorgeous, especially for its age! I used to recover lamp shades for some of my vintage lamps. What a find! I am so happy for you. ☺️
I can't thank you enough for your videos, Scott. Over the years, they have helped me through some really tough times. I'm currently waiting to hear that my cousin has passed. Family has been called in by hospice. It was nice to watch your video and relax for a few minutes.
Prayers to you and your family 🙏🏻
@@kathyhodges7054thank you so much.
my dad said that the radio they had would dry out because his dad had it too close to the radiator. grandpa liked his chair close to the heat and the radio would get dried out and crack. the grand piano was on the other side of the room. it was a little living room. my sister bought the house after they passed. it was an old farm house from the 20's, but had three bedrooms upstairs and one on the first floor.
Well, turns out that small little house sure had some terrific treasures after all. So interesting learning about the old radio differences (& I know zero about them); not boring at all! Glad you had a good day despite the showers ☔️.
You hit the jackpot at that little house. Thank you for all the information on those old radios--fascinating. Around 1950 when my little brother was 6, he got a crystal set kit for Christmas.
Our Granddad, Dad and Uncle took over putting it together and wouldn't let him help--he cried. Eventually in the late 50's he let me have the crystal set. I put the antenna in the bedroom screen
and managed to get Canadien Broadcast Corp. while near Albany, NY. I never knew what the crystal was or that the little needle was called a whisker--thank you.
Congratulations, Scott! That lampshade is awesome, and I like the unusual candy dish. The radios look to be in good shape, but that breadboard model looks positively diabolical! Wouldn't you like to know the story of how that speaker got from Utah to Pennsylvania?
Aloha 🌺 Scott! My goodness thank you! Such beautiful radios! Thank you for all the info. I so appreciate radios they bring such joy to me. I listen to the radio more than I watch TV! Aloha 🌺🥰
Scott, I found that interesting about the radios. Please, do more videos like this. 😊
Where do do you think the GE radio was made?
Those radios are truly the cat’s pajamas! The Freshman radio is so clean….I’m assuming that this came straight from a radio collector. It will be fun to see what you can get going…I’m excited about this. I can almost hear the castanets playing from Paul Whiteman’s “In A Little Spanish Town” coming from that Freshman.
According to family lore my grandfather had first radio in Baltimore. Must have been even more crude than your breadboard. His parents were displeased by all the visitors the radios brought into the house. He went on to become a radio pilot for Pan Am in Peru in very early aviation days. My mother was born in Lima.
I really enjoyed this episode. I was sewing the ears back onto my puppies' favorite stuffed animal. As I am watching and listening to you talk about the radios, I can hear the passion and the excitement in your voice. It's nice. It was like I was there. I hope you enjoy your new raidos. I also hope we get to see some restoration in the future. Take care. Have a groovy day. 😎 ✨️
Scott, are you the luckiest guy, or what?😉
You scored today!!!👍
I Love your lamp shade
I love your excitement and extensive knowledge Scott! I really enjoyed going over your radio haul! And, those lampshades are beautiful! Thanks for showing us the goodies. Have a great weekend! ♥️
Love your enthusiasm & how much you enjoy sharing & teaching us. But all those radio words were Greek/Latin to me; had no clue what they meant & still I listened to everything you said. lol
Awesome lampshade!
❤❤interesting information!! Thankyou!!
Wow what a haul 😮
Man, did you ever make out today. Really happy for you. Were the old batteries used in your older models square and made of super thick glass? I've seen a few of those in old dumps I've kicked around in.
My area wasn't electrified until 1936 and old timers (gone now) would talk about the "before" times when everyone would gather at one neighbor's house to listen to his radio.
I'm sure your subscriber Joe S is loving your new radios 📻😊
I love that lampshade! You are so lucky. Did you see it in the photos before you went? If only I had gotten there first! We just don’t have things like that in Texas. I can’t even find a reproduction.
Congratulations!!!
You're speaking a whole foreign language when talking about that first radio. 😆
❤❤❤
Scott, I enjoyed hearing about these antique radios. I had never heard of the bread box radio and found your discussion of the features very interesting. I love the casket radio. How elegant. I really know very little about radios, but love history and learning about things. I forget what you called the rounded top radio, but it brought back memories of a cathedral style one from my childhood. This radio was one That I listened to in the 1950's and '60's.. During my high school years it was in my bedroom. Late at night I could draw international radio stations. Cuba came in the clearest. What a adventure! Of course the weather had to be clear and just right. Most often, I listened to a Chicago station featuring Frankie Yankovik (sp?) and his accordian and friends. I learned to love polka music. I was a farm girl from N. Indiana, about 15 miles of US 30. Now I live within 3 blocks of US 30 in a senior apartment complex. By the way, I believe you are just a few months younger than my youngest son. 😊 As someone used to sign off with, "Thanks for the memories." 😊😊😊
What would a person have been listening to on a radio they made themselves, before radios were even a thing?
There couldn't have been many stations, to start, and those must have been in larger cities.
Just interesting to think - how did they even get their start?
There must have been IMMENSE fascination with them. Maybe we're just innately drawn to communication We've certainly come a long ways in a relatively short time... as I swipe across a 2.5"w glass screen and tap to send.
Really kindof mind-blowing.
❤super fabulous find. Wow!!🎉 celebration. Congratulations
Are most of the houses in your neighborhood similar in size and age as yours?
Ann Arbor Michigan. Home of University of Michigan.
very windy here today
ann arbor, michigan university of michigan is there!
Where do you find a radio station to listen to on these old radios? Nothing modern would fit with those lovely radios.
👋🙌👍
As much as I enjoy watching a shopping video I definitely do not enjoy the frequency of people videoing everything & anything today. I've often thought if I was in a thrift store & a group of resellers descended, cameras in hand, I'd just leave- after checking if any of the handful I watch were in the group of course.
Probably sstupid question , but is there a way looking at the condenser and being able to tell if its for Television or radio?
i was just looking at a floor lamp with green glass. one on fb that they were teasing about MAYBE selling. the other overpriced on ebay.
wawa, not dunkin? i had a dunkin today
Arborphone you spoke quietly out of respect of its condition
