    Greetings. My spouse and I are watching this series with great excitement. I actually went out and took some branches off a peach that we have removed to practice on. First thing, I managed to cut myself. Watching this video again now. Thank 😊 you.

    Thank you so much for this wonderfully detailed instruction - the best I have found, and I have watched many. I don't understand why you don't get more views. This and many of your videos have so much higher quality content than those of other UA-camrs, who seem more intent on being adored and admired than communicating the details of their chosen subject. Great work.

      This is a great instructional video. Logical and clear. I will practice as suggested. I have one question, is the bevel side of the grafting knife facing up and the flat side facing down when cutting the scion?

    Number one recommended thing in a woodcarver first aid kit is a tourniquet for good reason. Safe tool handling is no joke. 😅😮‍💨

    This is incredibly helpful! I was getting really nervous about using the knife and would have been one of those people making all those mistakes you showed. This makes me feel much more confident about using the knife properly. Now I’m off to go practice!

      It's fine. it could help me to do a version 2.0 later with all the stuff I missed or that people asked. We'll see. It's good enough though.

    When the body is used to stop movement of the blade I call it a Break. Excellent advice. The slicing action you speak of is the same action seem on a Axe bit that has a roundish shape to the bit. A skewing action. You can place your finger on a blades sharp edge and apply pressure just don't move the finger. I don't have a good single bevel grafting knife. Been using a utility knife. I may try making one or modifying a knife. Or I should just purchase one.

    • @SkillCult
      @SkillCult  7 років тому +2

      I wouldn't buy a grafting knife unless you're going to do a lot. You can make one in an hour from a paring knife. Not that big a difference if you know your way around a knife.

    Thanks for the video. I cut my fingers making tongues so here I am learning. Does it matter how the flat side of the blade is positioned during a cut? Like if you're pulling it, should the beveled edge be facing the bark with the flat side facing out?

    • @SkillCult
      @SkillCult  5 років тому

      Ha, I wouldn't really know lol. You should be able to hold it lower down though, on the abdomen and get almost as much control. There are other ways too. Some just cut away from themselves, but I find it doesn't work as well on some scions.

      So, I generate an 11 PART series on grafting for everyone to enjoy and use for free, and all you have to say is to whine that I didn't tailor it to your preferences? Try doing an 11 part video part series on anything to please the whining, entitled masses and then we can talk. Tariq Ahmad, "this channel has no content"
