What a beautiful time to have been alive There is nothing like the innocence of this era Everything after is sad madness I wish I was born at this wonderful beginning of tbe sweetest music ever ❤️
Many have recorded this song - many people believe others made it famous in the 1950s and 60's - But it was Al Bowlly and Ray Noble - not only were they the first - they were - In my humble view - the best
You're very welcome! I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the recording and the accompanying scenes. Restoring and digitizing this masterpiece was a very challenging and time-consuming process. Frankly, I'm still not satisfied with the quality of the recording. So, I'm planning to re-record it and further enhance the audio in an effort to make it sound even better in the near future.
Tulou ... excuse me 🌺 Al Bowlly can never be underrated 😉, because he 's my favorite English singer at his time 🌹 such a beautiful voice, such a beautiful character 💐 Mark
Heard this on a PBS british series & it was so beautiful. Been looking for this soulful version rather than the snappy ones. Been done in a few movies w/ perfect placing. Thank You.
Dismayed to see no love in the comments for Leslie Howard, Garbo's co-star in "Of Human Bondage" and a tremendous actor of early Golden Hollywood who, like Bowly, was taken away from us much, much too soon by the cruelly indiscriminate events of WWII. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Howard
I agree with your Howard enthusiasm, but I think you mean Bette Davis, don't you? Great camera work, but Maugham's story lends a sadness to the song I don't think it deserves.

They sure are ❤
More music that passes the test of time. Humming it all day long is the thing to do.
AL IS GRAND AND WE EVEN GET TO SEE BETTY DAVIS EYES.
Many thanks for this wonderful recording of a great song from the 1930s and the scenes included were certainly the icing on the cake

Leslie Howard, one of my favourite actors. He and Al Bowlly needlessly killed in the war.
