A LOT OF PROFESSIONAL COLLECTORS ARE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ITEMS THAT ARE GUARANTEED TO BECOME MORE PROFITABLE OVER TIME, LIKE COINS, STAMPS, AND BASEBALL CARDS. BUT SOMETIMES, THE MOST VALUABLE OBJECTS AREN’T EXACTLY WHAT YOU’D EXPECT.
AFTER ALL, COLLECTING IS OFTEN BASED AROUND SUPPLY AND DEMAND. FOR INSTANCE, SOMETHING THAT WAS ONCE ABUNDANT AND VALUELESS COULD SOON BECOME RARE AND VALUABLE!
AS IT TURNS OUT, SOME POPULAR ITEMS FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD COULD NOW BE WORTH THOUSANDS. BETTER YET, ONE OF THEM MIGHT JUST BE SITTING IN YOUR TV CABINET RIGHT NOW…

It isn't rare if it was mass produced in the millions .. that's why everyone in the comment section owns them .
Not everyone I don't have a copy and I wasn't born when those copies were released.
There's how many that were produced, and there's how many that survived.
Inspectah deck Consider that alot off them might be broken or not 100% intact.
Silver coins were produced in the millions yet most are gone, melted down for the silver. People tossed their VHS tapes very quickly when digital DVDS came out. You couldn't give them
away. Most ended up in the landfill.
Still got all of mine..should check on mg versions
I had every single one of these movies! I ended up donating them to the Children’s Hospital! It makes me happy that my children watched it for so very many years. While I am kind of sick at the money lost from not keeping them, the joy that these movies brought to dying children is worth all the money in the world!
Michele Clayton you lost no money because they arent worth anything
Many Disney clam shell's are only worth top dollar if they are still factory sealed, or if they were a Disney club exclusive. If they're not a club exclusive, or factory sealed, most are usually only worth $5-$10 max on a good day.
They are great old shows and I have checked on how much are they worth. And only if there is a collector out there that's willing to buy it for a major price but the best thing to do is keep it, it's worth more to you than it is trying to sell it. Those are great movie's and Disney doesn't make them like that anymore. So enjoy them and keep them.
A few weeks ago, I took all of these Disney tapes to the goodwill store.
i pefer vhs over blu ray
Do you want to shoot yourself? I have "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty and the Beast!".. Did anyone catch the price for the Beauty and the Beast tape?
This is a total myth. People list these on eBay for thousands but I have yet to hear of anyone dumb enough to actually buy them for that much. Usually, they’ll sell for about $5-10. VHS tapes aren’t collectibles.
yes this is a myth, but VHS tapes are very collectible...I have lots of very rare tapes and have sold a single tape for 600 Euro, so your wrong in your statement....Its not Disney tapes though, but all are ex rental tapes...and most of them are Horror and exploitation movies.
So VHS tapes can be worth a lot of money.
Totally agree. I wouldn't sell my collection, there are just too many memories around them. I have a few tapes with the black diamond and I'm pretty sure I have one that was recalled to be edited but I'd need to check that. I want to, one day, by a VHS player and just spend a whole weekend watching my childhood.
@Risen General bruh get em and put em on ebay
@@Elizabeth-po1tb I'm happy for you, I was born in 2002 and I don't really remember watching a lot of vhs tapes even though I know I grew up around them. Have a good morning:)
@@henrikibsen186 *you're
This is absolutely not true!! 😆 Just look on eBay for some of these. The prices on these range all over the place! They’re only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. That “special” diamond edition of beauty and the beast is not worth $9000. Don’t believe the false hype people.
Victor Rodriguez I couldn't get 50c for them at the pawn shop or my garage sale.
Simon Eden Right? I actually have that beauty in the beast diamond edition. I posted it on eBay for $2000 just to see if I’d get any response. Just wanted to see if I got anyone who was interested. I got zero offers or responses.
This is definitely one of those cases where you can’t believe everything you read or see on the Internet.
Victor Rodriguez no worries Victor, I knew all about it about 8 years ago, Cheers, Simon :)
I will wait till I have kids and give them to them..I think they might make money with it someday
This youtuber did not do his due diligence. Shame on this guy for spreading BS.
I don’t care if they are worthless, I am keeping all my vhs and DVDs. I love them !
Same
You mean, "you don't care if they are priceless?"
Yes
They are mini time capsules of our lives back then
I can trace my childhood and memories of the days before I was aware of existence and all that jazz!
Go to a yard sale....I see them every weekend...They are 1 Dollar each !!!!
Got a ton for 50 cents a piece
It doesn't sell for that much, people just list it/buy it as a joke but never pay on eBay. I just made a video about common VHS tapes that are ACTUALLY worth money and they don't talk about basically any of them here. Too bad.
Walter Blake Knoblock z
Walter Blake Knoblock as
Such as? There was that Devils Advocate movie where the art piece was animated, and then they recalled all of the tapes to edit out the original piece...
Walter Blake Knoblock
Where or how do I get your video. I have saved these Disney VHS's for many, many years also they are NBO (never been opened) I was wondering if they are worth anything and how I could find out and if so where I should or could go to sell them for the price reported.
Thank you,
Missy
What about akira on VHS😂
Bruh, these are in my dtorage unit and some vhs can still be found at thrift stores.
Very true I also have a few somewhere in the house
its a scam
brad dovel if people are buying them, the market demands them. It’s real.
My dad has old VHS tapes from Blockbuster and fr other rental stores
It be a pyramid scheme of this review of Disney VHS Tapes.
I got quite a bit of Disney tapes that still has their original covers, including a few with the black diamond logo.
if you thin 5-20$ a tape is a fortune, or maybe 45$ sealed in pristine condition with the shrink wrapper and no sun damage / fading is a fortune then okay.
Black diamond tapes are NOT WORTH THOUSANDS. I dont know why people think they are, they aren't even remotely that valuable. I don't pay more than 1$ for them at sales because they sell very slowly on ebay.
I was born in 92. I love vhs tapes and have been a collector for some time now. My local thrift shops, good will and st. Vinnies, have been selling there Disney tapes for a buck a piece now. And the little mermaid original they're asking 10 each! So yes there becoming recognized and collector's like myself love to find but these tapes are not being sold for over 200 each unless like described new sealed. Even then it's only 200 bucks new. I myself have 13 copies of the little mermaid banned cover and only one sold for 15 bucks on ebay. I now have 9 copies of beauty and the beast. I recently found song of the South in Japanese and it only sold for 75. But I got it for a dollar so it was well worth it!
I remember when I had to do community service at a good will in Westport conn. I saw these things just sitting there. Arrrr
I'm so glad i didn't get rid of any of my VHS movies now. But also finding that i might have some rare VHS's laying around. I may stick to them as well. Who doesn't remember the start of a Disney VHS movie saying that, this is yours forever and ever. Gotta love some nostalgia.
Sounds like this dude has some VHS's he wants to desperately sell
he sounds like a big fool. i'd never believe anything this dummy says
Guys, this is not true. While some of these have been sold for crazy amounts of money, they arent even worth what the thrift stores sell them for. I have tried and tired and tried and havent sold a vhs for high money at all
M.Night207 3
It’s because they have to have cut content to be worth money.
Beauty and the beast has value.
Song of the south has the most value.
I've got rare uncut versions of fantasia bambi and dumbo, worth about 25$ in reality on ebay. These things hold sentimental value only, there really isn't anyone interested in paying top dollar for them.
@@zerotodona1495 home video vhs/beta/dvd/bluray song of the south was never released in the US. Only Japan and Europe. The film was banned in the US in 1965, only 8mm prints exist. Good luck finding those.
I just love how it's about a lot of people who kept their old VHS tapes and show nothing but DVDs
Everyone here calling BS on this is correct. I've sold VHS tapes on Ebay since 1999 and that period, the late 90s to early 2000s was the golden age for selling rare VHS tapes online. Back then, when many movies had gone out of print and were years from being reissued, if at all, on DVD, etc., I was selling tapes routinely for $80+ to $200+ apiece on ebay. Those days are long gone.
Trouble with kid's vids is they've been played thousands of times & could be worn out.
I just realized that I have like ALL but 3 of these VHS tapes. Basically VHS Disney movies were my entire childhood in a magic box.
I have almost ALL of my old VHS tapes in their og covers just slightly teared from use and age
You may get lucky enough to receive $3 a tape lol
zebfox011 I couldn't get a cent for them at the pawn shop or give them away to the charity shop :)
Got mine for $0.50 each at a Goodwill
@@Lockpicklover123 wrong market, look on ebay for tapes that sold so you know what to sell yours for.
Actually you could get over 500$ for just two tapes
@@keythfn only if you find s buyer
2:40 While yes, the song "Human Again" was written during early development of Beauty and the Beast, the song itself was not included with the film's earliest VHS sales; It wouldn't be until the 2002 Special Edition rerelease, both on VHS and DVD, that the number would have its inclusion. Said Special Edition would be rereleased in the 2011 holiday, on DVD and Blu-Ray, in a 1-disc 3-pack Diamond Edition, featuring the 2002 Special Edition, the original theatrical version, and the theatrical version but with roughly half of the movie's scenes replaced with their respectives in earlier stages of development (mostly pencils and roughs).
One trip to a Goodwill store should tell anyone that idea of these tapes being valuable is a load of hogwash
You can still get SEALED copies of all 5 variants, including the early 80s red stripe ones cheap. Millions of them still exist. Not rare at all.
Shit like this has people thinking these things are worth a fortune when they simply aren't. You can get them from $0.25 to $5 all day long.
I see that black diamond all the time on vhs at thrift stores
I still have my old Disney video tapes when I watch them from the
90's - 2000's when I was a kid
Used to have all of these, but they were all stolen when my house was burglarized when I was a kid.
Only problem is that video tape is a magnetic media and the magnetism wains over time. I have several 20 year old Disney videos that are currently unwatchable as the signal has degraded so bad.
I have a bag full of old Disney VHS movies. My parents found it in their basement before they moved into their current house. It has 10 classic Disney movies, Toy Story, ET, and classic Looney Toons
Everything you read online is not true.
You Tube But that means what you said isn't true. Which means everything we read online is true. But then again that's not true. Which makes what you said true, but false.
Is the statement, "This statement is false," true or false?
"Don't believe everything you read, and only half of what you hear".
*and the never ending loop begins!*
You mean "Not everything you read online is true".
I just bought 30 Disney VHS tapes for $1 each at a yard sale. Some Black Diamonds and some still factory sealed. I thought they were worth what I saw on ebay but it’s all good, they look good on the shelf.
My mom gave away 2 of my favorite childhood movies. Great mouse detective and Ferngully. The mouse detective was the black diamond version.
First off, hardly anyone has a VCR anymore. I sold a bunch of these on Ebay for about $1 a piece. You can hardly give them away. I don't believe any of this.
I use to sell VHS Tapes too.
First on Craigslist, then later 5miles, OfferUp and letgo.
I only sold two VHS Tapes but took me couple years to sell em. Customers message me about VHS Tapes; mostly wasters, and some out of my reach from other cities that are far away from North Hollywood.
Last year donate em, VHS Tapes weren't easy to sell.
I did sold many DVD'S, and once Blu-ray. And I sold other things too.
I even have the SPECIAL EDITION of Beauty and the Beast with the song
One of those disney tapes in this video we actually have for years.
They have all of them at my thrift store in town they only cost 3.50 Canadian dollars
And they have that diamond on all of them
Ellie Flynn go out now and buy all of them!!
I have no use for them and I’m only 12
I use to have all dem shits son...the witchcraft still baffles me to this day! (Lil Mermaid). The phallus on the cover is still something I can't handle to this day . I once knew a guy from church threw away his old collection. The phallus still makes me cringe and shake up to today
Who the hell would sell these
Me wishing this video was more true as I glance up the the shelf full of maybe a hundred Disney VHS’s from the classic collection, diamond collection and even some early 80’s first gen tapes. They’re worth about as much as a heavily used pair of Walmart sneakers, but i love them and watch them somewhat regularly
Oh my gosh I have every Disney cartoon ever made on VHS !!
Me too including song of the south
James the technology kid Parsons same!
Ikr i have over 40 of them
I do too
Sadly they are not
the thing is, they are expensive because they are in high demand by many collectors. I went out and saw Beauty and the Beast for 5 bucks each and passed on it 7 times. Some, like Aladdin actually have some value but 99% of them don't
Are you kidding me that's not actually true about them being worth so much, still can buy them for 50¢ a tape
I had and probably still have most of these movies. But why would anyone pay more than 5 dollars for a tape that may or not even work
Worth $1.00 to $3.00 if lucky and someone is looking for them.
Many Disney clam shell's are only worth top dollar if they are still factory sealed, or if they were a Disney club exclusive. If they're not a club exclusive, or factory sealed, most are usually only worth $5-$10 max on a good day.
I literally posted my old Disney vhs online (a little bit less than the other prices) my finding nemo that was still in its wrapping didn't even get anything the other ones still nothing
I’ve collected a lot of Disney collectibles statues, figurines, action figures and plushies
Some of them are worth quite a bit some of it is cheap
But the value of it for me is owning it and loving having these beautiful things
For example
Revoltech stitch been in my collection since 2016
Quite a bit of money on eBay now but I don’t care i didn’t buy him for that reason
I bought him because I love stitch like most people
If this was true, the thrift stores would be rich..
I have a VCR, and now that I know these VHS tapes sell for real cheap, I’m gonna get all my favorite Disney movies instead of paying $60 each for a 4K DVD 😂
Bruh, I have so many Christmas specials and princess movies sitting around.
Ive got six diamond vhs movies. Aladdin, beauty and the beast, jungle book, peter pan and Dalmatians. But have been used.
I have a bunch of them. I have the Little Mermaid that was recalled and collectors were advertising like crazy to buy them from you for a thousand plus at that time. What it is, is in the artwork on front, if you look at the gold castle, one of the columns is most definitely "a penis". Hilarious! Glad I kept mine. 😂😂😂😂
Kiki Stu lol showed it to my mom! She was shocked and had no idea about it.
I have the original mermaid one to, with the inappropriate cover, lol
Me too,lol
I have that one, too. I saved it before my mom gave away all my old Disney VHS tapes today.
It is older than me, so it is history and should be preserved. :)
Wouldn’t sell them for the world !!!
Omar Raymundo I know to many people in this world are so into selling their childhood memories online. When I found them in a box a year after the dvd was introduced, the memories hit me hard
Omar Raymundo that makes US two
Man I wouldn't think they would be worth a dime unless their mint condition.
That's what the guy said.
Same
You'll get 10$ at most for these tapes, maybe. The only Disney VHS that is worth a small fortune is the "The Rescuers" tape with the topless lady in the window.
Oh my gosh I just gave 2 large boxes away to goodwill Disney movies .
These old VHS tapes are worth very little in reality,it's like those 50 pence pieces on Ebay, some joker will ask for £3000 when all the other exact same coins are on for £1.50.
All my VHS Disney movies I want my children to watch
Where can you sell them fast, I have a few of the high ticket items you mentioned.
They are worthless
These won't be that collectible because literally every kid in the western world had these VHS tapes as long as their parents weren't opposed to Disney.
True, but a big portion of families must have either thrown them or donated them away.
+dcta51
Right on. I really like some Disney cartoon films and remember having a bunch of those VHS tapes during the 90s. But my parents gave or threw most of the tapes away once we got only DVD and blu-ray players by the mid-2000s.
I kept mine because I didn't want to rebuy all those movies. Plus when DVD was just starting the tapes were cheaper to buy.
I have all of those in a box downstairs.
I found the Disney didn't sell that well , but unusual tapes did an early sooty did well early spiderman, nightrider old horrors do well .
My momma had all these and more we had over 500 VHS tapes📼 when I was little. But she sold all them when we got older because she was sick of packing them up every time we moved. 🙁 I have over 2,000 DVDs and blue rays so I guess the apple don't fall far from the tree. Lol 😂😂😂
You are so many people have a lot of right away from home and I will have to look back
You got it reversed the rare version of beauty and the beast doesn’t have “human again” and recent versions do
It’s not true that they’re worth that much today because a lot of people have kept them, so it’s not like no one has these vhs anymore. This might be true in the future though.
That's insane I literally have so many of those in my basement in a box
Don't believe the video, over 100 MILLION of these still exist.
I had a lot of these videos. When I replaced them with the DVDs I just gave the videos away at school for free. I didn’t think to sell them.
I just did a quick Google search. The insane prices are just dumb listings off Ebay.
I have had 26 of these Disney movies and a free vhs player on my flea market site for $25 for all for over 2 years now if the were worth money people would have jumped all over my offer
When Disney recalled a VHS of THE RESCUERS in 1999 because two frames of a magazine centerfold were in the background of one scene, I found a copy a couple of days later at a Safeway that apparently hadn't gotten around to sending them back to the Mouse. Still here, still in the shrinkwrap, and I know it's the right edition because Disney didn't get around to releasing a "fixed" edition for about three months.
I'll give you cash for it if you want to sell it
Man I had at least 150 of these movies vhs
I still have all of those vhs movies! Some are still sealed.
there worthless
I've been collecting VHS tapes of Star Trek, Star Wars and several other things for years. Most I find for 50 cents to about $5. I collect for posterity in the hopes they will be put in a museum honoring Pop culture and classic media. In the meanwhile, they make for great memories and art pieces.
This is false. Beauty n the beast diamond edition still sealed is only worth 24$. Do more research b4 you get your hopes up
The only one thats worth anything is the little mermaid phallus cover which is about 2000 sealed.
@@Daviousss I have it, but I won't give it up. :)
@@tierralaird9067 You have the banned cover? Lucky you.
@@dicloniusgames Yes, I have the banned cover.
I believe we still have Cinderella, Dumbo, and Snow White.
In 2050 maybe, but now in 2018 those tapes are still commonly owned still, give it another 25 plus years and maybe they’ll be just considered vintage but I doubt it
In 2050..even if someone has a vhs player..the tapes will probably not work ..the magnetic strip will have deteriorated.
I am gonna rant my mom out. I had a classic Bambi VHS as a kid that sold foor $7,500 on eBay and my mom DONATED it to Goodwill!
And yes, we are loaded with a lot of these VHS tapes. There's no reason for us to keep them since the DVD and Blue-ray versions are way more visually appealing to watch. I'm not really that fond of old collectables, except when they are worth lots of money that can be spent elsewhere.
I'm never selling my disney VHS tapes I had since I was a kid and ones I got from goodwill. Also I see a lot of Disney VHS tapes with the original package at goodwill.
I have a bunch of these and I have the little mermaid original one with that scene....
Any ways ILL NEVER GIVE THEM UP I still watch them on a realllyyyy old tv in a spare room
Princess of PinksparklyUnicorns - There was a scene taken out? I saw that tape version, so now I wonder what they take out... I have the one with the banned cover that looked too phallic for some. It’s a good box/poster, but I suppose I could do with less dong imagery.
I have a rare demo vhs tape of Winnie The Pooh: Spookable Pooh. I didn’t know until I bought the tape that it was originally going to be titled Winnie The Pooh: Spookable Fun! Who would’ve thought? I also have some tapes from the so-called “Neon Mickey” era of vhs tapes: That Darn Cat ‘65, The Walt Disney Magic & Comedy Revue, Winnie The Pooh & Tigger Too, A Dream Called Walt Disney World, and Limited Golden Edition II: An Officer & A Duck.
I just brought a bunch of these old Disney vhs tapes at the market dam no beauty and the beast
Dude I have these tapes in my basement XD
ok i will check in ;)
And my mother did not enter into what I was doing !!
There not worth anything. Its a hoax
Holdensingingvideos, you're right on buddy, you can't even give them away :)
Vhs tapes are not valuable I went to an antique fair they had a whole box of Disney vhs tapes they were selling for 10 bucks
Look on eBay right now. These Disney VHS tapes have some of the lowest value. Everyone collected these and flooded the market.
I have so many VHS tapes! Oh the nostalgia
where do u find buyers...i have 3 copies of the little mermaid banned edition
I have all these. So now I will hold for my retirement plan!! LOL
I HAD EVEY SIGLE ONE OF THESE AND MY MOTHER THEW THEM OUT 😭😭😭
I have the entire Disney black diamond edition released and I keep them on a self in my home if I do sell them they will not come cheap
they are worthless
As a Disney fan and former VHS collector, this hoax is dumb. They can still be found at many thrift stores from 50 cents to a buck. But I'd never sell any of my Disney videos because they're prized possessions of mine, though they're in my attic because I ain't got no tape player anymore :\
I want to know a few questions about VHS because I had a book business and I want to tell you why people that post VHS s on eBay and I saw the huge prices on all of them and why do they post them so high for
Thanks to Disney +, there's no value to the Disney VHS.
Or DVD, HdDvd and Bluray. Disney+ KILLED the resale market.
why do you think we kept them other then us not changing with the times?
Sorry. They aren’t worth anything for most people. eBay prices have collapsed. Disney movie collectibles have also collapsed. Anyone seeing this and inexperienced will rush to buy a collection, but they’ll be wasting money, time, and storage space.
I have a lot of Disney movies on VHS. No one wants them. Not putting down Disney, by saying this. I still love Disney. People don't have a player, now adays, to play them on.
Me and my family used to have a lot of these VHS tapes but my dad threw them away and destroyed them
I wish I knew who I could sale all of my Disney tapes to I wish there were any buyers takers that pays what is mentioned in the video that is quite alot of money for each one
