Very nice. Overheating is always a concern when using a forstner bit. I have also noticed that new ones will at times underperform, in my opinion. Thanks for the demo.
Once I tried the FAMAG Bormax I never looked back. They are so much better. Try them out. Especially the Carbide tipped Forstner bits are superb!
Thanks. This is very impressive. The side by side and different speeds in oak was a great idea.
He should have used a Fisch bit for a fair comparison. At this point, it's just an ad.
Thank you Mike
I would like to see the Project Farm guy test forstner bits.....
He has the best reviews on UA-cam
Use a digital thermometer next time to show temperature, grabbing it and saying it's warm doesn't really tells us the viewers anything lol.
Nice demo. Should clamp that wood just in case. I’m going to check these out.
there's such a difference in the way it throws the chips out of the hole too
I'll think about that bit next time I get in adrilling match.
I always love your videos because I learn so much. I’m curious to see the difference between this new bit and a bit from Fisch. Do you have any Fisch fortsners?
We do! It's better than the fisch, we'll do a side-by-side video soon.
@@TaylorToolworks awesome! I look forward to seeing!
Would also be great to see how they compare to German Colt Maxicut which was my favourite before I changed to Famag
Did you mention whether or not the “name brand” bit was new?
I love it! … what did the inside of the holes look like? Any difference in finish?
There wasn't much of a difference in the finish. The heat/efficiency were what set them apart.
@@TaylorToolworks thanks for checking.
My wife says that you need to stop bringing out tools like this. 😄 - Chris
I always love seeing your comments, Chris! Thank you for the laugh.
It would be interesting to see a comparative cost of the bits per mm bored per second or something like that 🤔
Not a bad idea 🤔
How does it compare with the Fisch Wave Cutter Forstner Bits which you also sell?
Ditto. Better than Wave Cutters?
@@mikecampbell5493 Definitely better! We'll be doing a side-by-side soon.
I started buying the famag bits then found fisch black shark and they cut better still with little heat up.
I've always wondered why don't all forstner bits have hex shanks. I presume it's a cost cutting thing, but even cheap spade bits have them.
What is the brand name of the forstner bit?
There's a discount code in the description, so I'd say there may be some bias going on here. Did you receive any remuneration from the supplier for this vid?
No remuneration - What discount code are you referring to? I don't see any in the listing or in our description.
I'll try them, but think sharpening that cutting edge looks like a pain
Let us know what you think 🙂
you probably could get some better performance from your standard forstner by simply sharpening it ... they don't stay sharp forever
can this one be used with a hand held electric Black&Decker drill?
Can: yes, recommended: not really. Forstner bits are mostly used in drill presses.
Why don't you raise the wood up to almost contact with the wood?
wood contact the bit.
I dont get it? You pu compared a used bit that had a chip in it to a new one?
Why would that mean anything lol.
Wtf
So it looks like a great bit, but... Did anyone else think it looked like he was pushing really hard when using the famag bit?? lol
Pretty sure that's a wood chipper that just happens to drill holes.
The CMT bits you sell are not good (but I do love their blades). These look better.
Have to agree. The bits work but not near as fast and they do get hot quickly. The set was idk without looking, but I think 12 to 15 bits for less than the price of 5 of these, but they give you a work for sure. And I am very happy with the saw blades too.
So what did you prove here? That a highly engineered and probably way more expensive bit can outperform a cheaper one? No mention of price, which is something most all of us want to know. I’ll bet the Forster bits I use are cheaper than the Boremax bits and they do a pretty good job. Seems like just a sales pitch to me.
It's Taytools... Everything is a sales pitch since they're the ones selling them.
Ha ha, you’re absolutely right.
Famag 16 pcs set is $450.00
I told my wife about theses and at £450 for a set of 15 guess the answer 😂😂😂👨🏼🦽
For $32 a bit they'd better drill good.
Technically you're comparing sawtooth bits not forstner bits.
