Hey Andrew, hey E bun. Looks like a beauty day there in the north. I’ve seen similar stoves were you split the log into 3 pieces, then take the center out and use some wire to reassemble the log, in that way you make a hole in the center. Swedish log stove I think it’s called. Never made a rocket stove myself. Now I’m gonna try it. I Hope all is well. I hope the rude is doing well also. As always great to hear from ya and I can’t wait to see what’s next. 👍👍
Good to hear from you again Andrew. I made one of these a few years back with a sack of concrete and a 5 gallon bucket. Just use branches to keep it going and its reusable. Ive seen them made with cinder blocks too. Good luck, I hope you have a fabulous summer and good health to you and yours
I split a pine log into quarters and chopped the core out, made a groove into a couple of the pieces with my chainsaw. Tied it back together and lit it. Had a pot of tea boiling in minutes. Very useful 👍🏽 Used rocks to level the pot too
Glad to see ya still rocking on UA-cam I remember watching your stuff on here over 8 9 yrs ago.....late spring is right here in northern bc it's been snowing and won't stop lol
Hey guys hope you're doing well Thanks for sharing your story with us 2 Canadians living on the Gulf of Mexico sending support to you Cheers J&D 🙏🇲🇽🇨🇦🙏
If you make the bottom hole a bit bigger and feed wood from the bottom it will burn super hot in minutes and roars like a rocket.. Great vid glad to have you posting again cuz!!! ✌️
Greetings E bun and Andrew! I will always admire your office and the views you have from it! It's been a slow spring down in Minnesota as well. I think half the state north of the Twin Cities still has ice covered lakes, so yeah it's been slow here too. Lots of geese are moving here so it's only a matter of time that they make it up your way! Best of luck to you brother!!
Awesome rocket stove! I've only seen them made out of aluminum cans. They use a large V8 or pineapple juice can in place of the log, and a smaller soup can for the smaller air hole at the bottom. I seen another guy use a can puncher to make little feet at the bottom of a smaller can that he set inside a larger can. The metal tab feet allowed for the airspace similar to the smaller bottom hole. They also make these rocket stoves to make hot tubs in the bush. You can make a rocket stove out of blocks or bricks next to a bathtub outdoors. Thanks for teaching us how to make a log rocket stove!! We miss your vids, Andrew. Groot is HUGE!!
Nice day in the north! E-bun's got a great T-shirt there also! Slaayyer!!! Fellow metal fan and outdoorsman. Ya'll live the life though for sure, super jealous, been watching you for years now and it's always great content.
Hello Andrew, there is nothing better than spending time in the bush with a friend. I made one of these in the winter and cooked fish over it. I also made a video of it. They work really well. (Once you get them going). Your videos relax me brother. Keep them coming. Have a safe spring.
In alaska, we call that a swedish fire log. Works great on ice or snow. A rocket stove comes in different configurations but all are made of metal. You can make the fire with a chainsaw alone. Trapper scotty, Alaskan
A Swedish fire log, as I’ve learned, is when you cut a log in quarters. Tie the quarters loosely together standing up lengthwise, then light the middle, and it goes till it burns out. But whatever; Rocket/Swedish, as long as you get to eat, ha.
Great episode Andy! I’ve yet to make a rocket stove. Simple and effective concept. I totally want to come hang out with you and E Bun, Andy. I’m coming out there someday bro, you wait, 30 pound pike brother ha!
Damn!! That's the way to live Andrew! No shit. Excellent video Andrew. That rocket stove design definitely has a place in outdoor cooking. Variations are only limited by your imagination. Good to see ya back. So, do you always keep your bug spray right next to your food? LMAO!! Sorry, couldn't help but point that out. Funny as hell! I've seen rocket stoves made by splitting a log into 4-5 pieces then splitting off the center core edge of each piece. The idea is that when you put the log back together it will have a built in chimney stack. Wrap wire around it a few times to hold it together, fill the void with tinder and there you have it. You don't have to cook with it. It's pretty cool to set up a couple or a few of these and just treat'em like a campfire. Kinda fun and cool to watch. Once you get them going they can really shoot a flame out! Like a rocket. You might call that a fire log, like you said, same principle.
The trapping season here in the states ( Pennsylvania) was garbage, very little snow and only stayed cold for a few days at a time . Packed the traps in a month early , I was tired of cleaning fur caked in mud then realizing the fur was low grad anyway.
EBuN!!! He’s back! Haha love it! Hey fellow native trapper/hunter/gatherer/fisherman from the states check out our channel if you have a free moment! Been following you since the beginning stay safe my friend good to see ol EBUN back in action

Keep an eye out for an old top burner grate from a gas stove. Works great on the top of log rocket stoves. Easy to transport also.
