Ingenious technique for shaping the handle manually. Going to have to use that sometime. Great looking pair of hammers. Whoever won the other one at the Bash should truly appreciate the care and quality that went into it's creation. Now about your shop safety de-merits: Using a chisel on Dad's Tablesaw top, (2) x (3) occurrences = (6) Not using a push stick while ripping, (5) x (2) occurrences = (10) That puts you at (16) for the remainder of the year... Keep your digits out of harm's way, you're going to need them for all the cool items you'll be creating in the future.
Very well done, an ellipse would be the more accurate term but oval works also. Googling Ornamental Turning would keep you busy for a year or two if that type of lathe work interests you. They made a multitude of specialized attachments that while mostly used on exotic hardwoods and ivory they could also be used on metal.
Your woodworking skills match your metalworking skills. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice, loved the offset idea, that made a nice handle.

Have you ever thought of using Tru-Oil gunstock finish? It is a strong and durable finish that is also waterproof. I use it when making pens,
Thanks for the idea!

Nice hammer

You will need my address to post me the other one, as you can’t use two at once.
Nice job, Alan.
