FAQ's:
Q: What are the buttons you press?
A: F2 - BIOS, F12 - Diagnostic Options
Q: What if you cant change between Legacy and UEFI?
A: If you cant find those options or cant change between them, move on and continue with the rest of the video. What was the result of the Dell diagnostic scan?
Q: Changing the settings in BIOS didn't help and the scan passed everything :(
A: If changing the settings in BIOS did not help and the diagnostic scan showed the hard drive to be healthy, then you can proceed with the rest of the video. You can try the Repair or Recovery options in BIOS or undoing the last update if applicable. If that does not help, your last resort would be to install a new operating system.

Q: I cant run the diagnostic scan. It wont complete or I cant access it.
A: If you cannot run the scan, we don't know for sure if the HDD is healthy or not. We will have to continue troubleshooting assuming it is for now. If its healthy, and if the issue is operating system related, I would then reinstall it.
You can see how to install Windows 10 here: • How To Install Upgrade...
You can see how to install Windows 11 here: • How To Install Upgrade...
Q: What if my HDD failed the test?
A: If your HDD fails the test, then it is most likely bad and should be replaced. Let me know if you would like help with that operation. After installing the new drive, you would need to install an operating system onto it as seen here;

You saved me from endless pain. In my case it was the CMOS battery. I never knew such a thing existed on a desktop. If it wasn't for your video I would have thought it was time to change the power source or maybe the PC itself, cos all I found online were the same answers.
So thanks a lot! By the way, in my case it came to the point where I couldn't boot the PC anymore. Totally dead. So it doesn't just affect the BIOS clock but might prevent the system from booting. I clarify this because, again, many people online insist it's just for bios memory and that a computer should still boot even with a dead battery. Not true with my PC. I have a Dell.

Are you able to try the steps seen here? ua-cam.com/video/_qF-oqPrn7M/v-deo.html. If so, what was the result of the diagnostic scan?
Hey , I followed the test instructions and nothing came back besides a “The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge.” When I exit the test , it continued to be stuck on the restart & updating screen 😩

What if the boot sequence menu in BIOS does not show Internal HDD? Diagnostics said everything is fine and “No bootable devices found. Possible causes are corrupt OS image or boot device not enabled in BIOS setup”.
1. If the HDD is good, perhaps the issue is OS related. Can you find any Repair or Recovery options in BIOS?
2. If changing the settings in BIOS did not help and the diagnostic scan showed the hard drive to be healthy, then you can proceed with the rest of the video. You can try the Repair or Recovery options in BIOS or undoing the last update if applicable. If that does not help, your last resort would be to install a new operating system.

Hello I really need help! Nothing was wrong with the diagnostics scan. When I went into BIOS the time was wrong. I changed that but it’s still stuck in a boot loop. The dell icon shows, then my laptop says it’s updating, then it just restarts and repeats this over. In boot configuration the boot sequence shows Windows Boot Manager, UEFI (with a long sequence of letters and numbers), ONBOARD NIC (IPV4), ONBOARD NIC (IPV6). I don’t really know what any of this is and it’s different to what you showed in the video. You mention about switching to Legacy but I’m really confused on what to do! i really hope my laptop can be fixed quickly without taking it apart or having to do anything too confusing. Thank you!
1. Were you able to find any Recovery or Repair options in BIOS?
2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
@@PC_Monkey There were no recovery or repair options in BIOS. And no I don’t believe anything like that could have happened to my laptop! I installed windows 11 onto a USB and I’ve tried to boot using that but I’m still running into issues. Apparently no feature or quality updates can be uninstalled. Startup repair nor system restore are working either. I think I might have to fully restart my laptop. Would you be able to advise on how to do this? Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it
@@bingbingbongbong2829 If the diagnostic scan passed everything, and there were no recovery or repair options in BIOS, your last option would be to reinstall Windows as seen here;
How To Install Windows 10: ua-cam.com/video/zYY-Gq68Dvo/v-deo.html
How To Install Widows 11: ua-cam.com/video/Yiy-53Wc-Wo/v-deo.html
You said the new install isnt going through?
@@PC_Monkey Hi again. Yes, I downloaded windows 11 onto a USB hoping my laptop would boot from that, it did not. Troubleshooting didn’t allow uninstallation of any updates, nor did the system restore or startup repair do anything. Following some tutorials, I tried some things in the command prompt tab in advanced options, I found my laptop was unable to copy boot files and couldn’t find any solution to this so gave up.
I used support assist OS recovery as I just wanted to wipe everything from my laptop and reset to factory settings, but immediately this stopped because of an issue with the operating system. I believe the pop up said something about an error and missing something with the OS. I’m not too sure, but now when I turn on my laptop there is nothing to boot from at all. The previous boot configuration was Windows Boot Manager, UEFI (with a long sequence of letters and numbers), ONBOARD NIC (IPV4), ONBOARD NIC (IPV6). Now it just shows ONBOARD NIC (IPV4), ONBOARD NIC (IPV6). I really hope I haven’t messed my laptop up I have no idea what else I can do now :’)
@@bingbingbongbong2829 If the install failed with the install media, I would try it in all the USB ports as some computers only will accept one of them for this operation. If none work, you may have an issue with the drive after all. I would then try replacing the drive and trying the install again
Still stuck, I got kind of lost of the boot configuration step because my interface looks different. I have a Inspiron 14 7415 2-in-1. Still great explanations
*Edit: I went back to the Boot menu and noticed the time went back again after a change, so I guess the problem is there
Does your date/time settings reset every time you turn the computer off?
@@PC_Monkeyyeah, it looks like it gets an hour behind. Just plugged out and replugged the cmos battery but still stuck on the startup problem
@@iamhannahmontana1153 Sounds like the CMOS may be dead. I would try replacing it at this point
@@PC_MonkeyI’m still trying to replace the cmos battery. I bought a part but it had the wrong connection, so I followed another DIY to reattach the wires to a new battery, but I probably messed up bc it didn’t work out for me.
I remember at first it said there was a thermal issue and to try cleaning the fan. I had my laptop on my carpet for a few days without using it. IT is saying it may be an OS issue from overheating and to fix it I’ll lose all my data.
I noticed you had mentioned BIOS updates before moving on to the OS reinstall. Do you happen to have a video about BIOS Flash update from the one-time-boot menu? I could not find it if you do and I would be very curious to learn how that should be performed. Your videos have been super helpful for me and I appreciate how clearly you break everything down!
Thanks for the nice comment :) Can you access BIOS at startup? If so, can you find any Factory Reset options there? If not, you can try a manual BIOS reset as seen at 9:14 here: ua-cam.com/video/HHwzA37r4e8/v-deo.html
I dont however yet have any videos showing how to flash update or download BIOS as any error could brick computers. I prefer not leading many new people down that road at this time. Sry :(
is there a website on UA-cam that will just fix my fucking computer without me taking it apart with a screwdriver or asking me for fucking money
Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 15 that has win10 on it. On F12 it first came up with a One Time Password that gives you access so you can boot usb first, I tried that but it never worked, now it never comes up again, so cant boot from disc or usb. It just goes round in a boot loop, logo comes up spinning dots, then welcome word, spinning dots freeze, screen flashes and restart. Have tried taking CMOs battery out no change. I do get a blue screen flash, that you can see by recording on a camera it says, do not turn off installing windows 64%. I am sure it’s a software problem as others have the same problem, but if I can’t use usb or drive how can I reinstall, as can’t get into recovery by restarting 3 times, could it be a virus, if so how can I run virus program, your thoughts could be very helpful as I am stumped, many thanks Barry.
I had a weird issue,
I have dell g15 5510
It was working well and when i turned on the cs2 , it wasn't letting me play then i restarted steam then steam crashed and then i restarted the laptop then it stuck on dell logo boot loop , I've diagnosed everything and it works well but couldn't find any issue

Nice, but: You explained a lot of things that are rarely the reason for a boot loop. My son and I are now trying to remove the current boot loop problem on my son's dell laptop since weeks. But nothing helps. Windows is starting ..... we can see the dell logo and we can see the start animation (dots circeling arround) of Windows ..... and then after a few seconds that laptop start again for the next boot loop ..... we tried all! .... but nothings helps. It is so frustrating.... What can we do?
What things are rarely the cause for the boot loop? In my computer shop that I have run for almost 10 years, all the things in the video are regularly the cause for a boot loop situation. Have you seen it to be otherwise in your experience fixing multiple computers a week?
@@PC_Monkey ... Please excuse me, I didn't mean to upset you. We are both very disappointed right now because all our efforts to remove this bootloop have been unsuccessful so far. Unfortunately, my son and I live very far apart, so we can only work together via Whatsapp video stream. We will check everything again today regarding the BIOS diagnostics. Maybe it will help. Your video is very good, but I'm afraid that none of your solutions will help us. We will see!
Very comprehensive. Thank you.

hello sir i have a Dell Laptop it is inspirion something and it keeps on going on dell logo then windows logo then it sometimes shows getting updates ready the time i am commenting it is at 64% if it updates then i will inform you and if u think it is a hdd problem please comment on it and by the way it also crashes and when i diagnosed it showed some error in HDD, do u suggest that i should buy an SDD and get all the HDD's removed from my laptop??
Yes. If an error is shown in the HDD, I would replace it. You could use this as a chance to upgrade to a SSD which are faster and break less often :) Remember to install an operating system to the new drive after installing it as seen here;

Thanks !! Glad this video was helpful :):)
@PC_Monkey Hello! I'm a new subscriber, I've been watching your content and i just wanted to say thank you in advance.
What brought me to your channel is that my Dell is stuck on a bootloop. the logo comes up, tries to boot, shuts down and tries again. after watching your video this is where I'm at now: hitting F12 I went in and did a full diagnostic and everything came back clean, not errors at all. So i then hit F2, went into bios. I checked the time and its correct. I then went to see about utilizing Legacy.. unfortunately what i found was a notice. "Legacy is not supported on this platform" and there were no other options to utilize. It did give an option for searching for other options but nothing was readily available and i didn't want to rummage around carelessly. Closing all that i tried to reboot again but this time after the dell logo came up I got a notice saying windows stopped suddenly and couldnt start, click ok to restart. Could you please advise me on what best to do next? Again, thank you!
Can you find any Repair or Restore options in BIOS?
I have an Insprion 5566. I have been watching your options to fix my laptop. There is no drop down menu for the harddrive. My problem is the system is stuck in a loop to repair. Can you please help?
You cant access the diagnostic test to run the HDD or Storage test? Can you find any Repair or Recovery options in BIOS?
I have a T7500 that has the boot loop issue and it started after upgrading bios to A16. Tried A17 same thing. Found a message board that said to revert back to A09 and works great but obviously without the advantages of newer bios. Are you familiar with the T7500 boot loop issue and if so are there any new fixes for this while being able to upgrade the bios?
BIOS can be a tricky thing to upgrade. No, unfortunately I dont have any advise there :( If the older BIOS works best, I would stay with that.

so I have an issue with my gaming desktop, basically it started flashing black screen and I couldn't game anymore, so I did a clean install of windows 10 and now am stuck in the Dell Boot Loop sadly and I'm wondering how to fix this if you know. thank you if so!
Sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here?
Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
@@PC_Monkey actually I have been trying to fix it for a while and it finally let me set everything up today but now I’m still having very slow boot time and at the start it’s saying I have an i/o cable issue but I hit f1 and go through but it’s been very slow so I’m updating and what not and for the first 5 minutes applications weren’t showing up so I’m wondering if it’s a hardware issue but if you have any advice on how to maybe help it run faster despite the potential hardware issues let me know please or you could do a video haha!👍🙏 thank you for the reply!
Diagnostics test is running again and again automatically in loop, no defects found in test. Not able to get out of that loop, F12 button is also not working, pls help..
1. Are you able to try the other steps in the video in BIOS?
2. Also, did anything happen before this? Overheating, liquid spill, Windows update, etc?
My laptop ( dell core i7 genth7) is stuck on shutting. what should i do to fix it?
What do you mean, 'shutting'? What do you see on the screen when trying to start the computer? Can you run the diagnostic test as seen here?
your videos are great but i have tried everything you suggested in the video and i still get the dell logo and not even the loading wheel at the bottom. i have a xps 8930. I ran the diagnostics and everything passed i even ran the long diasnotics and still passed

My little brother gaming laptop which is a dell gaming G3 laptop is stuck on the dell screen. Please help
Sounds like your on the correct video then. Have you tried the steps seen here?
Also, did anything happen before this? Overheating, liquid spill, Windows update, etc?
I commented on an older video so I'll do the same here. My fraternal twin's Windows 10 gave me a drivers corrupted message and to restart it for a repair. It couldn't fix the drivers and it's stuck in a diagnostic repair boot loop. I have the option to restart it but it goes into the diagnostic repair screen. I also have the advance options but the problem is my sister is the administrator and it needs her password to do what I need to do. Unfortunately she put in several passwords but her computer keeps saying her password is incorrect. We can't get past that because of her password. How can we bypass the administrator's rights to do a system restore and find a program that fixes drivers without having to restart the computer?
Are you able to run the Dell diagnostic test fully as seen here? Were there any errors?
@@PC_Monkey I'm answering this again. She did but it took too much time...We scanned it at night and I had to go to work. She has since unplugged everything making it difficult for me to try to get past her password malfunction.
I have Dell Inspiron 16 5620 and the laptop is stuck about 2 days.. plz help me
1. Stuck where? Are you able to try the steps seen here?

My bios is so different and im so lost mani might just have to carry this into a repair shop
There are many different versions of BIOS. What was the result of your Dell diagnostic scan? Can you find any Repair or Recovery options in BIOS?
My endless reboot ended up being an OS issue. Your video helped me fix my issue and i was able to reinstall the OS and immediately then uploaded all my family photos to the cloud. I was so upset thinking I was going to lose them. Thank you! thank you! Thank you!
Glad your all set :) Always here if needed !!
So what happens when I'm frozen on Dell screen.. Can't boot into setup or boot options.... (my laptop worked fine last night now it doesn't)
You cant access BIOS or the diagnostic scan? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
@@PC_Monkey I'm assuming windows update over night... I opened my laptop and took out my ssd and turned on my pc and I was able to get into the bios and able to enter the diagnostic scan.. Evrything came back good. So now I'm assuming my ssd went poof?
Hy, man my laptop DELL E5430 shown invalid configuration information-Please run setup program,
Then down there written that your laptop got shutdown automatically because of high temperature due to high temperature area or fan vents air blowing restrictions.
Then down error show #M1004 that call DELL support with this and down F1,F2 and F5 keys are asked to press.
Hope you help me solve the issue.
None of those fixes work. Windows keep being a software we can not trust
1. The diagnostic test isnt a fix. Its just a test to help us know the next steps. What was the result of your test?
2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
Bro you just helped me alot. Thank you!

My Dell 7400 struck in Dell logo.not responding for F12 or F2
Can you try the steps seen here? studio.ua-cam.com/users/videoNnXmTF0KAYM/edit. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
F2 and F12 don't do anything for me. Just get stuck at dell logo sometimes there's a bar with a little blue at the left or no bar at all.
1. Are you able to try the other function keys as some models will use different keys unfortunately.
2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
I have a dell inspirion 15 3510. Its looping on preparing automatic repair. I dont have the option of selecting Legacy bios. It only shows UEFI.
If you cant find those options or cant change between them, move on and continue with the rest of the video. What was the result of the Dell diagnostic scan?
@@PC_Monkey Diagnostic scan found no issues. My Dell has 2 TB of storage and I've read that I should change to legacy Bios but I dont see a way to.
I can't format my Dell laptop it keeps on restarting I already try to change the m2 and my ram still keep on restarting

I think the problem for me is the hard drive i keep getting a message telling my it’s uninstalled im kinda scared to open the entire bottom of my laptop and mess something up
Would you like help getting in there? What is the brand and model of your computer?
Can anyone know how to fix laptop stuck on loop " dell logo, updates are underway, restarting "
Sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here?

In Bios, you say, "changed to legacy or UEFI" but you did not show how to do this. I do not understand
I didnt show it as there are many different versions of BIOS and they all will do it differently. Some will be a drop down menu. Some will be using a mouse to click on the correct one. It depends on your BIOS. If you need help and cannot figure out how to change your value, you can post a video on your channel of your efforts and message me back here when you do. I can then view and advise further.
I keep getting stuck at autorecovery bios and i cannot go into f12... Any advice?

Thank you. I just got a dell latitude 5440 and already having a big issue with it .. after installing a few softwares on it, power it off .. it gets stuck at the dell logo and keeps looping ... I have added a password to it (admin password) and now I cant figure out how to get rid of it .. I mean I know what the password is but cant disable it. The bios menu looks exactly like the one shown here by the way .. One other thing that really sucks ass is that I have to be connected to the internet in order to reset that thing
So your computer starts up and works fine but you want to take the System Password off or the BIOS Password?
@@PC_Monkey
yes but I cant. usually when I have a power on password or asmin password I would type old password and then leave the new password field blank and save changes.. not this stupid laptop .
I have a Dell intelcore i3 processor desktop and I ran the test, the hard drive FAILED. So now my computer is stuck on “fixing (C:) stage 1 and then 2, but system restore, refresh, etc all fail. What next??
