- Back in early 2014 music site Indaba ran a contest to remix 'Sleepwalking' by The Chain Gang of 1974. I wasn't able to finish my entry on time then - but here it is now, serving not only as a token of appreciation towards Kamtin Mohager and his amazing music, but as a sort-of-farewell gesture to GTA V.
The fifth Grand Theft Auto is turning five years old soon and the release date of Red Dead 2 is approaching. I can honestly say that no GTAs were able to touch my soul as much as GTA V and Vice City did. I appreciate IV and San Andreas for what they are, masterpieces in their own right and landmarks in the open world genre, but V and Vice will always be special for me. Amazing story, atmospheric open world, great characters and a smashing soundtrack. And obviously the trademark totally insane Rockstar level of detail on top of all this. So thanks a lot Dan & Sam Houser, Aaron Garbut, Leslie Benzies and the other 900 people across Rockstar's studios for this experience.

I hyped for the game. And bought it after a year of the release. Enjoyed it for sometime, and reached 100% completion. And got back to GTA IV again.

This actually made me feel kind of nostalgic for GTA V. The first trailer, the hype, the gameplay reveal, the launch... Playing through the first couple of hours of this game was a constant mind-blowing. I really enjoyed watching these three unique characters grow and work together, as well as struggle with each other. GTA Online was pretty good, people still play it to this day, and it isn't going to disappear anytime soon I believe, but I have to say it's been a long time since I don't play anything related to GTA Online. A little over two years or so. I'm not really interested in all the updates and the new stuff anymore. I moved on. But somehow, I miss playing THE game. Wish we had gotten a Singleplayer DLC like Rockstar promised. Starting to feel old over here.

I bought it last week and no-lifed my way thru to completion. I had never seen anything other than some of the open world elements like the street races and strip clubs 5 years ago.
I picked it up for 15 dollars and it was worth every ounce of its weight in gold. It was a truly fantastic game. I loved it so much that I bought every other 3D GTA game just to see what I was missing out on the past 18 years.
Probably not gonna play the online portion, but even without it, the SP campaign was, as some outlets put it, an “ A+ 50 hour blockbuster movie” with some truly hard hitting story beats.
P.S. Who actually picked options A or B for the ending? Option C seems like the no brainer, not only for the bombastic conclusion, but for the emotional attachment to your friends.
I really wish they did Story DLC.

Yeah it's defo an entirely different experience. First time I completed it, I just wanted to finish the story as quickly as possible and skipped all the cutscenes to avoid any spoilers online. 2nd time round taking it in, its amazing noticing the attention to detail rockstar implemented into the game.

The streets of LA, three totally diverse characters on a journey to survive, living life on the edge and risking everything to walk away a millionaire. The Curator I agree. Kinda the same feel as Goodfellas, where you grow to love the characters, even though they’re mostly bad people. Each of the characters are relatable in their own way: Trevor is crazy, Michael is lazy, and Franklin is the kid trying to make a living with the hand he’s been dealt.

Gta V multiplayer was good for a while. I remember the early days when you had to be rank 42 to unlock the Buzzard, and rank 70 for the Rhino... Rockstar actually made you play the game before unlocking any of the military hardware. There was only the Rhino, Buzzard, and Annihilator for sale. The Jet actually required skill to steal. Good times where it was mainly showing off sports cars and throwing sticking bombs at each other lol. Simpler and happier times.

I remember saving up all of my money to buy a ten car garage and just living in a zion for a good couple weeks of playing the multi player, back when you could buy a nice sports car for under a 100 and one of the fastest cars for 300
The worst of my fears used to be anyone skilled enough to steal a Lazer. Players would rely on convenience store glitches and Rooftop Rumble for quick and easy cash. Players (mostly) left each other alone. Higher end weapons required level unlocks, no exceptions. Cars were no more than a million apiece.

This song reminds me of the time where I was depressed and miserable. I played GTA V, and this song seriously hit me. I'm a completely different and joyful person now, thank God. But listening to this now actually gives me some tears and a bittersweet feeling because of realising how far I've come from the time I played this game. Grand Theft Auto is very adult and bad and all that, yeah, but this seriously is an unforgettable game.

Same. I feel you. GTA 5 first being released and all the hype was amazing! Now, it's just more like Saints Row and how there are futuristic vehicles and whatnot. The game is still fun but not as fun as it used to be. Now, I don't really play the game as much anymore. The game I'm playing right now is Borderlands 3 at the moment but who knows? Maybe, I'll hop on GTA 5 again after not touching it for almost a year.

Amazing how Rockstar Games makes amazing timeless stuff. This game came out 6 years ago and still looks like a 2 year old game. GTA IV came out in 2008 but still looks good in 2020.
There was only a 7 year gap between Gta 3 and Gta 4. Technology sure did advance fast during the 2000's.

The graphics of this game still completely astonish me, especially with the 80s filter you put over it. Some clips like 0:35, 1:10 and the following scene, *DEFINITELY* 1:20, 2:23, and 2:56, all look like real life.
That scene with Michael was so memorable. Ned Luke did an amazing job playing the "retired gangster" type.

i bought a ps3 on its later stages and this and tlou were the first game I bought and man.... the atmosphere of this game... its something else... made me realize all the saving i did to buy a ps3 was worth it

Every year that goes by makes me realize that I really miss how great the previous years are no matter how shitty they seemed compared to the previous year to them, it's just constantly getting worse yet we come up with pieces of nostalgia like this.

I played GTA 4 a lot when I was younger. In the year 2013, I remember the first day I saw the trailer on Live TV. I first saw it on ESPN, surprisingly. I was so excited and since I was 10 at the time, my parents said no (even when I had GTA4) I waited two years, I was 12, and played it for the first time. I loved it. Now, five years later, I still like it, even with the chaotic online mode and crazy mods! I'm 15 now, and I have to say.
Time flies so fast when you're having fun, so much fun, you lose track of it and realize that it's been a long time since then... a really long time.

@Big Opachou I'm turning 26 this year and I grew up playing gta. Till this day I could navigate in vice city and san andreas with my eyes closed. Those maps and the stories itself are stuck in my head forever. So many good memories of playing those with friends... Now when I pause gta 5 and that menu music kicks in, I can't think about anything else, just those old times, playing gta with friends and laughing till we drop on the ground catching breath... Damn thats though...
I was in 6th grade when it happened, I was so pumped up about it especially since I’m a gta fan. When I got the game on new year 2014, I never stopped playing. Literally to the point where I have a no life in that game. Nowadays, I’m in my junior year and all I can say is that this game is worth all of the time I had. Even if I play gta a little bit nowadays, it’s a nostalgia to me especially my glory days in gta with my crew back in the day.
If my kids will ask me: "Daddy, what's the best game you have ever played when you and my mom were 15?" I will launch gtav...and cry because of nostalgia of the greatest moments with my friends and fun i had and still have, playing it😭

Remind me of the days when I was 14 waking up starting up my PS3 and just playing GTA online hours on end. When rhino tanks were scary, when the buzzard was the most feared helicopter. When just playing the game was just so much fun and simple. GTA V will always be in my top 10 games

The fact 5 years on and videos about this trio of characters are still being made just says it all. Rockstar would rather cater to kids who spend money online after hyping us all up back in 2013 and introducing us to these three and blatantly straight up promising story DLC which was false advertising.

This particular edit really hits me everytime I go back to visit GTA 5. All the times I just decided to drive through the highway and just stare at the ocean after reaching Paleto Bay, just relaxing as Michael and taking in the wonderful atmosphere this game has, especially with Michael's crisis and history, damn I love this game's story.

This game. This fucking game, man. How do you create such a flawed masterpiece? It has so many things wrong with it, yet you can’t shake that feeling of familarity with it. Booting up that Xbox 360, and selecting GTA V from the menu, seeing that intro with the logo for the 1st time. Being so excited, playing that first Prologue mission... You can’t recreate that shit man.
