Fantastic to watch. This wasn't the French Grand Prix of 1957, as that was held at Rouen-Les-Essarts. It was a non championship race, but was known as a GP.

I've seen some shambolic starts to a race in my time, but this takes the biscuit!

I do believe that this track is still there in mostly in its entirety although it's a bit overgrown now. The main stand and pits eco to the sounds of great cars and drivers that refuse to die. look it up.

Been there 3 weeks ago. The surviving infrastructure on the start/finish line is in better and better condition each year, being taken care of by the local association Les Amis du Circuit de Reims-Gueux. These people do a great job of preserving the monument for the future.

@@greg-warsaw4708 and every year Dunlop (I believe) pay for the paint so it is refreshed regularly. Les Amis du Circuit de Reims-Gueux are also promoting more and more car orientated events. Certainly worth a visit there - but ensure you pull off the main road if you're staying any length of time

I find it hard to see how the Vanwall was much more ''aero'' than the other cars on the grid other than it had a smaller radiator opening most others.

Musso, Collins, Lewis Evans, Hawthorn, Casstelotti..all of them gone soon. But if you're gonna go down, go down in flames.

When F1 was worth watching. Just man and machine.
Today, the cars are faster but all computers and BORING to watch - like a video game.

Anyone why there was a rule that you can’t pass on the inside?

    • @jcgabriel1569
      @jcgabriel1569 4 роки тому

Well, the old rule is, the slower cars must stick to the right side of the track, and the faster cars must pass to the left. That means that on this track, it is either pass the car ahead down the straight or try to pass them on the outside of the hairpin bends, of which there were two at this track.

le grand prix eu bien en 1957. mais cette course fut hors championnat . le grand-prix de France, cette année là se déroula à Rouen et fut remporté par Fangio sur Maserati

Can we return back here? Modern tracks are just oversized kart tracks. You need real balls to drive here, Just straights and slipstreams. Formula 1 made so much money, I am sure they can put one dozen helicopters and 300 marshals and medical units at every single corner. Needless to say, modern barrier that was made in plastics.

I mean if the FIA didn’t have a straightaway length limit, which I think is complete bullshit tbh. But it’d be a great idea if the cars were a hell of a lot smaller. That being said, I think what f1 needs is at least one race that’s just balls to the walls speed. We used to have Reims and old spa, which were absolute slipstream battles. We used to have hokenheim, but that got stupidly redesigned. The closest thing you see to this kind of racing today is at monza, and it’s usually one of the highlights of the calendar

@@fabianrocha9924 I don't agree. The race is Reims not Rouen. The year is 1957.
For the race in Rouen les Essarts, 1957, you are right. 1st Fangio; Ok !
Reims is not the same town as Rouen les essarts. and not the same date.
      REIMS 14 /07/1957 : one thing
      ROUEN 7/07/1957 : another thing

@@fabianrocha9924 No, this is a non-championship race. You're talking about the earlier race, the French GP held at Rouen-Les Essarts. Musso won this race, Fangio crashed out near the end of the race.
