In case anyone is interested, Boss Battle Games in Indianapolis has F-Zero AX machines and at least one of them has a working memory card slot. I got all ten AX characters easily. You need to have a memory card made by Nintendo with only GX data on it, no other games.
Normally I'd say "that's too many hoops to jump through to get those characters", but considering it took me a total of 7 hours of attempts over the years on Chapter 5 alone to unlock the Cosmic Dolphin...maybe it is worth it. I only ever saw one installation of AX in person back in 2003 or 2004, but it was broken and wouldn't accept the game cards at that arcade which was the only way to insert credits.
@@Squadaloo Wow, you beat chapter 5 on very hard, that's impressive. I was always just one second away. I did everything perfectly, but always lost by one second. You close to Indianapolis?

No, I am not but I also probably wouldn't go out of my way to play AX now that I already unlocked pretty much everything I can in GX.
