  • This video is one I've wanted to do for a long time that attempts to tie together the concepts of vibration damping, vibration isolation and vibration analysis. I am using inventor Nastran to run a Modal Frequencies Response Analysis which is pretty similar to the Harmonic Analysis in ANSYS. I also correlate the results with a physical test piece to help with the visualization.

    Thanks man, there aren't too many vibration analysis vids out there that are actually engaging

    This was actually very phenomenal. I'm currently taking a vibration control course and this helped me solidify base motion concepts and transmissibility in the isolation region. Thanks a lot! :)

      Thanks! That's a huge part of why I made it. I really struggled with really understanding what was going on with vibrations and isolation early in my career. I could recite formulas and stuff but struggled to visualize what was happening. When it finally clicked I wanted to share it all together.

    Great video (the part that shows program tutorial is useful, I like your practical approach), waiting for more vibration related videos!

      Thank you! I debate how much technical content to put in each video and generally cut a ton out.

    This is a brillant video from yet another inspired engineer. Thanks for the content, it has really given me a deeper insight into vibrations, and it also made me question some of my preconceptions. One thing that I am not able to get a clear answer for is the damping you mention in the software, is it hysteric or viscous damping ? and which one is used for structures ?

    Wow, this was extremely illuminating. I'm an engineering student trying to develop a product that is based on vibration isolation. Are there any resources you would point a beginner to specifically? Tbh some of this went over my head

    Do you agree that the design should be in region r>sqrt(2)? And zeta should always be above 0.7 for a perfectly damped system?

    How does inventor compare to fusion 360?

    • @EngineeringAfterHours
      @EngineeringAfterHours  4 роки тому +1

      Honestly I only used inventor because fision 360 can't do harmonic or random vibration analyses. I modeled this part in fusion 360 and imported it.

      I'm not sure about outgassing, but lord makes some micro mounts that may work

      I havent forgotten about you. I got a quote for the software I'm familiar with Monday and its still over $8,000 USD for a year.
      I'll try to figure it out in inventor NASTRAN but that's going to be a few months out and I'm not sure if it can do what I'm hoping for.
      You mention flow...are you expecting rigid body dynamics and flow together? Thats definitely outside of my expertise.
